Rating: Summary: This is the best "kid" movie about life ever! Review: I thought this was a great movie. Most of the other movies about kids and school are all really boring. Lloyd is not your average person as he has no friends, is made fun of by his little brother, and is an ugly kid. Yet he manages to find confidence in himself to invite a kid over (Troy played by Brendon Ryan Barrett)and become his friend as well as going after a girl he likes. I thought it was very different than your average 6th grade flick. I love the part when Lloyd starts screaming in the playground after seeing the girl he likes go with someone else. I also think that Brendon Ryan Barrett is the best actor in the movie as he was 14 when he shot this movie and looks really young.
Rating: Summary: Lloyd Review: I've never written a review before, but after reading the Editor's comments, I had to reply. I don't know if the reviewer is come kind of extreme, obsessive, political correctness zealot, but my family, which includes 8 and 10 year old girls, really enjoyed this movie. It was funny, and in many ways true to life. True, a couple of the sceens with the bully showed him as mean spirited, but that's life. This actually gave me a great opportunity to discuss this type of behavior with my children and discuss how to best avoid and/or deal with it. Unfortunately, in the real world, things like this actually happen. Very enjoyable movie, definitely recommended.
Rating: Summary: Lloyd tells the truth Review: My daughter loved this movie. It seems that the woman who reviewed this film for Amazon hasn't been on a playground for a very long time. LLOYD depicts reality or at least a child's perspective of reality in sixth grade. Bullies exist. Kids call each other names. It happens everyday. It even happened to me when I was growing up. I think it's utterly ridiculous for the reviewer to bring up the recent school shootings in her review. I know that parents and their kids will relate to the story and also enjoy it's message.
Rating: Summary: A True Family Comedy! Review: My family viewed this movie in the theatre as well as on vhs. Our family; five kids & two adults, enjoyed Lloyd very much. It is not often enough that a family can go to the theatre or sit in front of the TV together without the fear of nudity or vulgarity popping up through the screen. It was true, clean fun for my kids, and a few memories of the issues regarding kids in school, since school began, that we all face. The difference here is, the perspective comes from the kids. Also, when viewing these troubles, the kids can see it from the outside, possibly more clearly. I don't agree with your reviiewer--not one sentence!! And that could take another 1,000 words. But the point is, WE TRULY ENJOYED THE FILM !!

Rating: Summary: A universally wonderful film Review: One of the true signs of great storytelling is if you can connect with different people on different levels. This movie does just that. The humor is universal, and there is plenty here for both children and adults. I loved this movie, and actually sent it to a friend of mine as a wedding present. They loved it as well. Lloyd looks at the life of a upbeat geeky kid and his attempt to win the girl of his dreams, and just try and fit in. I think everybody who has ever been 11, or will ever be 11, can relate to this story. I know it brought back memories of my own childhood and my first crush. It shows kids that there are obstacles that you have to face growing up, and it shows Lloyd facing and overcoming them. It's a good life lesson, and one of the few films that parents can and will want to watch with their children. It doesn't get burdened down with overly complex characters, and that is part of its charm. You never hear kids say that their teacher is "Stern but fair." Nope. They say that the teacher is just mean. I think one thing that most children's programs miss today is that they don't have to make everything so sterile for the children that parents will hate to watch it. Watch an old Muppets rerun and you'll know what I mean. The Muppets were entertaining to all ages because they were just funny. Like old Warner Brothers cartoons. They were just funny. There wasn't a focus group targeting them specifically for one demographic. They just made them funny, and everybody loved them. Just like Lloyd. Hands down: It's a great movie.
Rating: Summary: The Ugly Kid Review: The Ugly Kid aka Lloyd is directed by a good friend I knew in the past. This is Hector Barron's Biggest break in life. He has made smaller low budget films, but the first ever to make a big hit in the film industry. This is not a world wide film. It was limited to screenings. I just saw the film and I loved it. Not just because I know Hector Barron, he is a kid in heart and I love films that are with great character in that situation. Lloyd lives life as being known as the ugly kid. Being called names, pushed around, not having to many friends growing up or liking himself. He learns in life that if he is marked with being called names he then learns to ignore it and fight for who he wants to be and who he is. Magic is his thing and wanting to be cool is what he wanted to be known as. Falling in love with a girl and keeping up with the school bully who steals the girl of his dreams is what he goes through out most of the movie. He meets a magician store owner and a little help by him gives it a great ending. Lloyd makes childhood life becomes of what it was when we were kids all along.
Rating: Summary: Todd Bosley? Why hasn't this kid won an Oscar! Review: Todd Bosley is by far one of the best child actors I've seen in my life. In truth I've studied his work and I have tried to emulate the way his jaw is forced into his upper lip when he gets mad. I can't tell you how many times I've watched this movie it has been at least sixty or seventy times and every time it's like a little present is being given to me. As a 65 year old woman with 312 cats, let me tell you it's not easy to calm down my pussies, but some how "Lloyd" brings be and my felion friends back to the early days of television. Oh that Perry Como he just knocks me out. Anyway back to the movie at hand. Todd Bosley and those other kids really tell a story. I can relate to being picked on, it seemed like only yesterday ol' Johnny "Bankok" MacDoogleson was poring Colgate toothpowder down my knickers. Anyway I give this movie Amazon's highest rating. I can't recommend this movie enough for young parents after there kids go to bed. It gives perspective along with an overall sense of goodoing as parents. TODD BOSLEY WAKES ME WANT TO GET UP AND DANCE LIKE IT'S 1942 AT A USO SHOW WITH LOUIS PRIMA Thelma J. Cartwright PS Thelma and Todd forever
