Summary: Where's the Special Edition?
Review: Great flick, good for all ages, and above all else, it's SCHWARZENEGGER!!! I would really like to see a widescreen special edition of this film, but Universal is severely lacking in that department. The picture quality isn't that great and it's only available in fullscreen pan and scan. But it's a great film either way.

Summary: Ya Hu
Review: Hard-bitten cop John Kimble (Arnold Schwarzenegger) gets more than he bargained for when he goes undercover as a kindergarten teacher to pursue murderous drug dealer Cullen Crisp (Richard Tyson) while at the same time protecting the man's young son. Pitted against a classroom full of rowdy, 6-year-old moppets whose monkeyshines try his patience and test his mettle, Kimble may have finally met his match ... in more ways than one.

Summary: Fun Family Film
Review: I had never been an Arnold Schwartzenegger fan in the old days of Conan and The Terminator, but I've seen several of his comedy films, and I have to say he has a wonderful sense of the humorous and a charming way with children. I'd purchased the video of Kindergarten Cop years ago, but when I got my DVD, I gave most of my video collection to the Bone Marrow Transplant wards--because of their immunosupressed status, these patients are sort of a captive audience for quite a while. I decided to get a new copy for my DVD. It's a fun, feel good kind of film. Most of my family have been teachers, so I know about the headaches that teachers experience educating the nation's children. (Who'd have the courage to spend an entire day in a closed room with ones own children, let alone a small room filled with 25-35 of them! Teachers not only deserve our respect, they deserve combat pay!) As Detective John Kimble, Arnold is confronted with some 15 of the most adorable imps from whose mouths spring some of the most extraordinary things. He suffers the usual "new teacher" syndrome: the kids push him to the limits to see how far they get. There's really nothing so funny as the "helpless male" dealing with a bunch of kids. Hulk Hogan did the bit beautifully too, in a similar film, but Schwartzenegger is a genius at it. When his partner insists he leave his gun, but changes her mind because she thinks he'll "be eaten alive," it brings to mind my own antics in the classroom when confronted with the obvious neophyte! When Kimble punches out the abusive father of one of his pupils, I can almost hear real teachers with similar real battered children cheering him on. They say that the villains make the film, and Richard Tyson does a superb job, as does Carroll Baker as his mother. So believably psychopathic is he as Cullen Crisp, one can conceive of very little that makes his end anything but a relief. The film is notable for the several strong female roles in it. Another plus in my book. Carroll Baker, as the villain's equally crazy mother, makes Cruella DuVille seem like a member of the humane society! Her total indifference to even her son's death, makes her a totally freaky character. Linda Hunt as the grade school principal is a treat. Hardly a minute taller than her pupils herself, she makes the ideal administrator in this setting. One of the funniest scenes is that wherein she gleefully "feeds" the undercover cop to the little monsters of the kindergarten class, fully expecting them to rid her of what she obviously perceives as a problem. And they very nearly do! Probably my favorite person in the film is Schartzenegger's partner, Pamela Reed, who plays Detective O'Hara. She is just wonderful, a perfect foil for her "serious" partner John, and she lets forth with some really pithy one-liners. Probably the star of the film from our perspective was the little Ferret, John's pet and ultimately his life saver. During the various fire drills, it was amusing to see the duly-designated ferret rescuer retrieve the class mascot from its makeshift cage of laundry baskets and carry it out of the school. So cute!!
A great Family Film, although perhaps a little violent in places.

Summary: A GOOD COMEDY BUT NOT ONE FOR YOUNG VIEWER'S
Review: I liked KINDERGARTEN COP with ARNOLD SCHWARTZENEGGER but I would have to say it's not for kids and here's why. Although there are a lot of funny moments which are too numerous to mention with SCHWARTZENGGER trying to run a class of kids and the situations that arise I found that the end of this film was too inaproipate for a family oriented film how it ends I won't say but you'll see what I mean. So all in all I liked KINDERGARTEN COP but I won't recommend it for all age's.

Summary: Arnold goes to school.
Review: I love this movie. I have seen many more times than I could possibly count. Arnold plays a tough detective who is sent to a small town in Oregon because the criminal he is after is rumered to be heading there to find his son. Arnold is there for servalence, but his parner(Pamela Reed) gets sick and can't cover her assignment. Her assignment is teaching kindergarten at the local school in hopes of finding the mother and the money she took. Arnold goes in her place and the results are hilarious. He finds himself in the crazy world of little kids and he seems hopeless. Of coarse he eventually finds his way as a teacher. This movie is a great mix of comedy, drama, and action. Arnold does some of his best acting in this film. His self-parody is brilliant. The supporting cast is good, as is the direction. I just really like this movie. Fans of comedy, drama, action, and Arnold will all get a kick out of this movie.

Summary: Great Film, Poor DVD.
Review: I really like this film. I also think it is rated near the top of the list of the DVDs most in need of re-production. The compression artifacts are really noticeable and distracting, the film is delivered in Full Frame and NOT Widescreen (Booo) and there is no real extras to speak of beyond your basic boring you-have-to-read-em production notes. Who buys a DVD to read production notes?! Its a multimedia format designed for the wonderful richness of animation, sound, video and interactivity yet we are still being forced to READ our DVDs. If I want to read I will get a book. Please send a message to the studios that we demand quality DVDs and don't buy this.

Summary: Five Star for the movie but Not for the DVD
Review: I think this is one of the worst DVD attempt by Universal Studio. They have totally ignore the fans of this movie. The picture transfer of this movie to DVD was not up to the standard. And why in the world they will only release this in Full Screen format only? What happen to the Widescreen format? I am sure many of us here like to see this movie as it meant to be seen. I felt like cheated by the studio. I should have read the fine print.."FULLSCREEN" I suggest not to buy this dvd and wait for better quality dvd version of this movie. I think Arnold should say something to the studio.."What Ah you thinking?!!"

Summary: Good Film - Bad Amazon
Review: I wanted a widescreen version of this movie. Amazon had widescreen for $29.99 and full screen for $13.01. Wal-Mart has Full Screen for $9.44. So I paid these rip-off artists the $29.99 plus postage. Guess what? Like so many orders before, I received the Full Screen version. After weeks of writing, Amazon agreed to refund my money, but five months later, no refund has been received and mail is not answered. This is at least the third or fourth time I have been cheated. If Amazon would screen their actions and those of their sellers, they would probably do a lot more business. After this has happened to me so many times, I feel sure that anyone who wants to rip-off people will find Amazon a good hunting ground.
