Summary: Great movie, shows how versatile of an actor Arnold can be
Review: "Kindergarten Cop" is a one of a kind movie. It shows that Arnold Schwarzenegger can be a versatile actor when he wants to be. During the first half of the movie, he plays a cop that is off the job and seeks employment in a local elementary school as a substitute teacher. While there, he has his ups and downs with the class and finds a woman he's interested in (Penelope Ann Miller) who teaches down the hall. While he's a teacher at the school, that's where the comedy parts of the movie are the best. Later on in the movie, the son of the woman Arnold is interested in is kidnapped. The kidnapper sets the school on fire on his way out to distract everybody. That's when the action sequences flourish and become the dominant factor of the movie.

I recommend getting "Kindergarten Cop" to add to your collection and to find out if Arnold and his sidekick, (Pamela Reed), will be able to catch the kidnapper and return the school back to normal. This is one of the best comedy/drama movies of the 90's.

Summary: Dig the heck outta it....
Review: ....the stubbled Dirty Harry styled undercover cop runs for cover from rampaging six year olds. Fuuun-neee! Best scene: Kimble catches kid eating everyone's lunches..."you eat der lunt-ches?" Kid is scared stiff as Kimble gives him the eye to eye. "Stop it!" Kimble shakes and drops kid like he would a drug dealer off the roof of a five story and walks off. I always get a kick outta that! See it once more. Good movie.

Summary: Four words: "It's not a tumor!"
Review: Arnold Schwarzenegger is, by far, the best action star in cinema history. Not only do the writers of the films he's in give him the best one liners ever written, but he has a warmth in him in his good guy roles that just him fun to watch.

This movie is great fun. I first saw it when I was 9, and absolutely loved Arnie on screen. He just worked well with the children. The plot of the movie actually makes sense too, although Arnie being hired on as a teacher seems contrived (unless they used police connections to get him in).

I don't really know if these movie is appropriate for young kids. There are just too many stupid parents out there right now. If you've raised your child responsibly, then there is no reason why he shouldn't be able to watch this film. I loved violent movies when I was younger, and I don't eat people!

Bottom line
I think kids would love this movie as an intro to Arnie movies. The more I think about it, the more I understand why his films are now being aired on AMC. Arnie is an American icon with a broad range of roles. This movie proves it.

Summary: Pleasing
Review: For a screen play that could have easily gone nowhere, this was a suprise hit. Arnold "Terminator" Schwarzenegger plays a cop who (through a twist of fate) must go undercover as a kindergarten teacher.

Although there are the obligatory gory scenes, much of the film centers around his adjusting to working with small children and a homey community. The musical score is lovely and shows the actor's real life talent for working with children.

Despite the above mentioned praise, it is too convienent that his partner (who has had background training as a kindergarten teacher) gets food posioning the day before class starts. Equally unconvincing is the stereotypical portrayal of the mob mother as a controlling platinum-haired drill seargent. One would have thunk Ivan Reitman could have delivered something more original.

Also of note is that the later scenes of the movie should not be seen by small children.
