Rating: Summary: I thought it was great... my parents LOVED it. Review: I am at college right now and when I brought this movie home for my parents to watch, they loved it! Extremely funny and mature satire... try it, most will like it!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful acting and highly original story Review: When I first saw Reese Witherspoon in "The man in the Moon" back in the early 90's, it was clear that she'd be a star one day. Her stunning acting talents were also very evident. Here, she is nothing less than stunning. In a performance completely devoid of self-consciousness, she embodies a character she herself bears no resemblance to in real life. Matthew Broderick is amazing here, too, in a film of real originality.
Rating: Summary: Great movie, not so great DVD Review: There's nothing else to praise about the movie which hasn't been said already, so I'll comment on the DVD. While the transfer and sound is good, the extras are lacking. One commentary by the director, and... That's it. Not even the theatrical trailer. The movie's great, but the DVD could have had some deleted scenes or a behind the scenes featurette(I saw one on the E! Channel, but I guess they weren't able to use it). I know Election didn't do too well at the box office, but Disturbing Behavior did about the same, and that disc got an obscene amount of extras compared to this disc. Still, it is one of 1999's best, most underrated movies. Don't miss it.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant! Review: This could well be the best movie ever made....and I'm not kidding. Seeing Election was therapy to me.
Rating: Summary: Great Movie Review: This movie is by far the best movie I've seen based on High School... picks up the quintiessential high school experience!
Rating: Summary: One of the best films ever made! Review: Oscar is usually cool on comedies, but this films deserves (at least) Best Picture, Best Screenplay and Best Actress awards. Word of mouth is doing for this brilliant masterpiece what the promoters did not even attempt to do. Probably because the film was considered too smart, too real to become anything but a cult favorite. Not so! It has something for everyone. Penetrating, perceptive, sexy, timely, and at the same time hysterically funny.
Rating: Summary: well... Review: I really thought I was going to like this movie, but I didn't. I thought it dragged on continuously and the story was third-rate.
Rating: Summary: see this movie Review: this is one of those movies you wish would never end, even though half the time you are cringing at the characters' folly.
Rating: Summary: The Best Film of 1999 Review: Forget those bloated atrocities "American Beauty" and "Eyes Wide Shut" -- this movie was brainier and ballsier than either. "Election" cuts into American life with the kind of wit and accuracy of Preston Sturges and Elaine May. I know of no higher praise.
Rating: Summary: Satire of school days--Easily among the best films of 1999. Review: With so much crap in the box office this summer, Election stood out.Superb acting and writing. It has dark humor, satire, and an incredible ending. I'll buy it.
