Rating: Summary: Bravo to the creative people behind this movie Review: A very enjoyable movie -- this is one of the better ensemble films I've ever seen, and I've seen most of them. Highly entertaining, and there are a number of poignant moments in this film that really got me. Different than the typical Hollywood movie and definitely worth checking out. Other reviewers here seem caught up in comparing this to "The Big Chill." It's not that movie at all, and shouldn't be compared to it. I really don't know why people compare one film to another anyway.... that's like comparing cats to dogs. ***Caution to the testosterone-addicted crowd: There is a plot, but this is a fairly character-driven movie. So if you're looking for car chases, explosions, gunfights & gore, this movie won't be for you.
Rating: Summary: unspeakable Review: Could not have been a worse movie. Horrible, stiff acting; embarassing dialog that made me cringe; not one moment of humor; pointless symbolism (a plate of moldy food on the doorstep...deep, man). Truly the worst movie I've seen in years.
Rating: Summary: A Great Independent Film Review: God, Sex & Apple Pie is a well-written independent ensemble film that you can't help but enjoy. Each character keeps the ensemble on track as they have a story to tell. The first time filmmaker found a cast that was great on the eyes to vividly bring the story to life. The story moves well with great direction. A film treat for sure.

Rating: Summary: Disappointing script and acting Review: I read other reviews and thought that I would enjoy this, but the movie I found quite disappointing. The acting is weak and the actors unable to really get "into" their characters. I found myself several times thinking 'oh, this is an actor/actress reading lines from a script,' as they made uncharacteristic speechs, or just spoke inconsistently.
The dialogue was generally weak; I didn't feel like the actors were speaking something natural, but they were saying things because the plot required them.
In many places, the movie had too much going on---too many plot elements, too many things---and there was never a sense of resolution. It's like the writer had too much in there and just wanted to get it all into one film, round-robining from one couple/character to the next in order to give everyone their fair chance.
I had the feeling that this movie was made according to a formula someone learned in film school. It was almost theatrical in its scripting, with gratuitous things happening just because you expected them to happen or because the writer wasn't disciplined enough to cut out what was extraneous.
So, I found it disappointing. It wasn't bad, in the sense that you walk out saying "this was awful," but it was bad in the sense that at the end I thought, "hey, I could have spent that time watching a much better movie."
Rating: Summary: God, Sex & Apple Pie Review: I really liked this movie. I saw it the first time around at an independent film festival and came away quite impressed. Prior to seeing GS&AP, my assumption was that I was going to see another version of "The Big Chill;" but while there are similarities (any movie nowadays that has couples/friends getting together for the weekend is going to suffer this comparison), this film can stand comfortably on its own merits.Jerome Courshon wrote, directed, and stars in the movie. He's done a great job assembling a more than competent cast and putting together an engrossing, cohesive story. It's also great to see Katy Kurtzman (long absent from film and television) back on the screen. I watched the DVD again tonight and found myself enjoying it all over again -- the acting, the writing, and the soundtrack. You'll also get some outtakes as well as a commentary from Jerome about the making of the picture. I wish there was more, but heck, I was happy just to have the film on DVD! If you get a chance, get yourself a copy, then watch and enjoy.

Rating: Summary: less than one star Review: I recently rented "God Sex & Apple Pie" at Hollywood video. Truly enjoyed the film! Hats off to Jerome Courshon and the rest of the cast/crew. Great writing, great acting, great film! What I like most about GS & AP that most indies fall short on, is the solid ensemble cast. Not easy to assemble more than 2 or 3 really solid actors, and this film pulls that off. Refreshing, fun, and entertaining! Thanks! MR

Rating: Summary: Good flick! Review: I recently rented the DVD God, Sex and Apple Pie and was quite amused by the excellent story line, strong characterizations and surprise ending.I particularly enjoyed the diversity of characters. The movie had everything: the Post Office geek, sexy young lover, a macho-kind of dude,a super hot chick and a yuppie couple. This is however not an action flick but an interpersonal journey of old friends who have gotten together for a reunion, much like that in the decades-old classic, The Big Chill. The story line rests in how the characters have changed, what changes they are currently going through, and what actions are going to be taken by them. The story makes one swift turn after another until the incredible surprise ending. Definitely worth the DVD price!!!
