Summary: A funny movie you can watch over and over...
Review: This movie was surprisingly good. It was, for the most part, funny when it tried to be, although many of the jokes were old and oft-used. The acting was pretty good, the actors looked good, and the movie just wasn't boring. It was fun and entertaining, and that's what counts in this type of film.

Summary: Funny film, about mature topics, with alot of heart!
Review: In todays era of low brow humor it was a true joy to see American Pie burst on to the scene. It may be about the quest of high school boys attempting to loose their virginity by the end of high school, but this film maintains its heart. It is simply the best film ever made about youthfull mature topic matter. Yes, you will laugh from begining to end with this one, but you will also relate to it in some way. In a way, American Pie made me feel seventeen again. Check it out, great film!

Summary: There's something about pie. [JM]
Review: 'American Pie' is one of those films that just click with you no matter what. Constantly funny and surprsingly, sometimes, touching, for what we are talking about here, it will suceed with the majority of it's audience. Much more ambitously funny than last year's 'Something about Mary' this film knows when to stop. Of course the film isn't great, but what to you expect. Hopefully though there will be no more movies that follow in it's pattern because Hollywood needs to know when enough is enough. 'Road Trip' just came out and it was panned from the critics and audiences alike, so see what I mean?

Summary: A Very Funny Movie
Review: "American Pie" is a genuinely funny movie that doesn't manipulate the audience for laughs. The characters and the situations in this movie are real and genuine. The performances from a talented young cast are good also, this i a comedy that is destined to become a classic.

Summary: Very funny
Review: American Pie is a very funny movie. It is about four high school friends who try to lose their virginiy by prom night. The cast is mostly all newcomers like Jason Biggs, Chris Klein and Tara Reid but their are also stars who have been around like that kid in Rookie of the Year. They all give pretty good performances and it makes for a very enjoyable experience. The most suprising star is Jason Biggs, who turns out a very funny performance and is also the star of the now famous apple pie scene. There is a lot of sexual content and profanity so easily offended people might not enjoy it as much as people who don't have a problem with that stuff. It is very funny though and fans of Porky's or Animal House will enjoy this movie without a doubt in my mind. So if you like to laugh I would definitely recommend this movie.

Summary: Funny movie has lots of heart-- takes you back to your teens
Review: This was a much better movie than I thought it would be. Sure, it is all about teen sex, and has plenty of gross-out moments, but throughout the movie, you really care about most of the characters. It reminded a lot of Diner, in that the main characters talk a lot among themselves, and it was fun to listen in on them. For better or worse, this movie took me and most people I knew who saw it back to their teen years and reminded them of themselves and all the types of people they knew. This is one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long while still having some real interest beyond the jokes.

I am not sure that the unrated version added much to the theater version of the movie -- I only spotted a couple of fairly small snippets addes in. The DVD does have a good cast/director commentary, along with a good produciton featurette. These defintiely add to the movie.

No, this is not a great movie, but it is well worth more than a watch or two.

Summary: The Next Animal House!
Review: American Pie is a movie about four seniors trying to get laid. Oh this had to be the funniest movie I have ever seen in my life. If I could compare this movie to "Animal House" I would. Jim is Bluto and Steve Stiffler ( a party animal) is like Pinto, while Finch is like Flounder. This movie was pretty much the 90's Animal House. The women in this movie are babealicious! Nadia is ssssooooo hot I can't wait for her new movie ( comming out this summer, featuring Jim who is the main character in american pie). Vickey is ssssooooo hot too.To bad she doesn't get naked too :). My favorite part in the whole movie (other than the nudity) is the 2 milf guys. Those guys make me fall out of my chair everytime"! MILF MILF MILF MILF MILF! This is a great movie about sex, sports, and highschool! Every male in america should have this!

Summary: Not exactly Ben-Hur but funny
Review: American Pie is not a brainless comedy and it isn't an epic either. It's a movie about teenagers sex life and how they "do it". The story is about four guys who are desperate to lose their virginity. They agree on a pact, to lose their virginity before they graduate high school. But the road to "freedom" isn't quite easy as they expect.

I should say that a comedy like this one isn't for everyone's taste. Especially the unrated version, the version I saw. There's more explicit shots of Kevin and the mug containing the "pale ale". There is a completely different version of the famous pie scene. There is more seconds of Nadia moaning. I won't get into details on those scene, you have to see it for yourselves.

The DVD is full of amusing extras. There's an outrageous funny commentary by its directors and casts. There is some funny outtakes and bloopers. And full biography of its cast. And thing I love about Universal, is there are trailers of other movies. If you want to know if there's a trailer of Man On The Moon, this disc is for you.

Summary: Overrated but worthy homage to "Porky's" series
Review: OK, people, take a breath. "American Pie" is neither hysterically funny nor hideously raunchy. It isn't as hilarious as "Porky's" or as disgusting as your average John Waters flick. It is instead a pretty run-of-the-mill look at the eternal quest of high schoolers to get laid on prom night.

Taken in this context, the movie is a pretty solid effort. Jason Biggs is decent as an indecently-stupid senior doomed to get caught in the most embarassing situations known to man, whether by his parents, friends, or the entire town via Internet. Chris Klein is his sensitive dumb jock friend who needs to play down the sensitivity a bit if he wants to appear less effeminate on celluloid (a good thing for a heterosexual lead role, Kevin Spacey call your office). Mena Suvari is the virginal object of his affection, while Allison Hannigan is simply worthless as a repugnant band chick.

There are a number of funny situations along the way, but "American Pie" simply does not sustain the laughter throughout the film and the climax (as could be expected the first time) is a letdown. The pie scene of the title isn't any funnier nor more disturbing in the uncut version, which of course leads you to wonder why the censors even bothered in the first place.

An inconsequential movie good for a few sophomoric laughs. 3 stars mainly for the lovely Mena Suvari.
