Summary: Sweet, funny, and silly, yes, but enjoyable
Review: Feel-good film extraordinaire. Sure, it's a suspension of reality. It's an improbable set of events. But, that's movie watching sometimes. You must agree to believe the set of reality they have laid out for you. Once you allow yourself to believe the premise is true--at least in the context of the movie--then you can sit back and enjoy the movie for the saccarhine sweet puff it is.

"Pretty Woman" takes place in Beverley Hills. With Julia Roberts as Vivian Ward playing as a prostitute. Richard Gere as Edward Lewis a very successful wealth man. Edward pays for Vivian's services for a week. You will just have to watch the movie to see what the out come of the movie is. "Pretty Woman" is a great comedy, classic movie. Great for any adult to enjoy.

Julia Roberts and Richard Gere work good together. With both bringing such good acting to their movies. "Pretty Woman" and "Run Away Bride" both starring Roberts and Gere are great movies. Both Roberts and Gere out do themselves in both movies. I would recommend any of Julia Roberts or Richard Gere movie's for any adult.

"Pretty Woman" is one of the greatest romantic movies made. With Roberts and Gere they just seems to be a perfect pair. They seem to work great together.

I give "Pretty Woman" a 5 star because, it is a really great movie that anyone could enjoy.

Summary: Pretty Woman's just perfect
Review: I usually don't like romantic dramas. "Pretty Woman", however, is the exception to the rule, though. The story is basicly "Cinderella" by was of "Pygmalian". Julia Roberts (in her brakeout role) plays a Hollywood hooker who excepts a week long job to escort the rich and handsome Richard Gere. The two fall in love, and the rest is history. I think it's funny that Richard Gere shot to stardom playing a Hollywood hooker (in the much darker "American Gigilo") and then he has his comeback playing with the same concept (though on a much lighter note). The soundtrack is excellent, and the supporting cast is superb. But it is Gere and Robert's easy chimistry and charm that is what carry the movie way the cheese it could have been. I think that it is wonderful that two cynical and cold people can melt each other and find more to life than their control of it. It kind of gives us all hope.

Summary: 3 stars is for Richard Gere
Review: I cannot understand the hype about Julia Roberts. May be it is beacuse I am not American. In this movie she plays a warm, honest, compassionate prostitute with good moral values. How this happens?Prostitution on the streets must be quite tough, dealing with dangerous men,etc and some girl cannot get away with it with innocent huge eyes and being sweet. A movie does not have to be realistic but it should not be nonsense either. Then the nice hooker helps a millionaire to find his way and ended up being employed by him for a week to be his girlfriend. The millionaire being Richard Gere is cold and distant, but very well mannered, kind, generous, intelligent and plain gorgeus. I did not buy the "he was a ruthless business man before the sweet prostitute" theme, he was nice from the beginning- how many men can be so kind to a hooker?...I can understand the director's motives here-to create an opposite attracts, the poor nice girl warms the rich man's heart, anyone can live a fairy tale if intentions are good...
Still, there are good sides of this movie-Richard Gere. With grey hair and great suits he is epitome of mature gorge. ...

Review: The modern classic drama "Pretty Woman", staring Richard Gere as Edward Lewis, and Julia Roberts as Vivian Ward was 1990 Smash hit. Directed by Garry Marshall this 119 Minute film received much critical acclaim. Julia Roberts received a 1990 Academy Award for Best actress, and 1991 Golden Globe for best actress. This film was one of the top grossing films of 1990.

This romantic comedy is among the best ever, Richard and Julia had a great on screen chemistry. Richard was playing the part of high powered business executive who was very disconnected from his feelings. Julia was portraying a Hollywood prostitute that was just trying to survive until she could save enough money to go back to school. They have a chance meeting and Edward ask Vivian to stay the week. You will have to pick this one up and give it a viewing, to see how it turns out. This film brings out many emotions, and takes a few turns, but it is very entertaining. This film will not disappoint, if you like Julia or Richard and you have not seen this film you have to pick up today.

Summary: A Dream Come True
Review: Pretty Woman debuted in 1990 starring Richard Gere as Edward Lewis and Julia Roberts as Vivian Ward. Gary Marshall directed the film and the run time is 119 minutes. Julia Roberts earned the Academy Award for best actress in 1990 and the Golden Globe for best actress in 1991.

This is one of the best romantic comedies ever made. The casting of Richard Gere and Julia Roberts in the starring roles is magnificent and their supporting cast is equally brilliant. Edward is a cold-hearted executive in town to buy up a family owned shipping business and sell it off piece by piece. Edward and Vivian met because Edward is lost on the streets of LA driving his lawyers sports car that he really cannot drive. He stops and asks two prostitutes for directions and Vivian ends up driving him back to his hotel. She goes up for the night and ends up staying all week. She accompanies him on many business outings and takes on an amazing transformation. This is one of the best dream come true stories ever made and deserves to be watched repeatedly.

Summary: Pretty weak
Review: Julia Roberts is hot but Richard Gere is not- Gere has no chemistry with Roberts- hes a stuffed shirt and he acts as if hes worried about his image or something- hes terrible, self-concious and just awful to watch. Gere was in "Looking For Mr. Goodbar" 1977 and he was the sleeze in "American Gigolo" 1980. I have the VHS of Pretty Woman and the print is good, I like video tape better than DVD- tape is organic while DVD transfers are known to be bad. Enjoy the movie!

Summary: Great Film - Atrocious DVD
Review: This is fantastic film, let down by a really poor audio track. Part of this is my fault for not noticing that this DVD is Dolby Surround 2.0 and NOT Dolby Digital 5.1. WHY!!! the boxed set with Runaway Bride WAS Dolby Digital 5.1 and great quality, unfortunately it was sold out before I got a chance to get a copy. In addition the sound level on the Audio is at least 50% lower than any other DVD I have and very thin in quality with little bass.

As for the movie itself I was expecting an uncut original version of the Film as nowhere did it indicate that the 10th Anniversary edition had been changed from the original. Imagine my surprise when the the introduction says that the film has been modified from the original version and has been edited for content, again WHY!!! the boxed set wasn't.

My advice is save your money for a better release than this 10th Anniversary edition. If you can find a source of the boxed set with Runaway Bride snap it up and save me a copy while you are about it. The boxed set was brilliant and I wish I had been quicker to buy it...

Summary: Pretty Woman Is Pretty Damn Fantastic
Review: This has become one of my favorite movies. Julia Roberts definitely lightens up the screen as Vivian Ward, the hooker from Hollywood Boulevard.
