Summary: This Is the Way DVD Should Be!
Review: This film is a classic comedy. Great characters, cool original story, great special effects (for that time). Thats not what makes this movie worth buying on DVD though. This DVD has the best special features I have seen to date. The 3D menu is neat. The featurettes are interesting. My favorite was the tricks and trivia option. With this you get to watch the movie with information on the backgrounds of scenes and inside info on the movie presented in the bottom letterbox. An awesome touch! With 5.1 sound and widescreen features it makes this DVD a symbol to why DVD is here to stay.

Summary: Growing up with the Ghostbusters
Review: If you grew up in the 80's, you were obscessed with so many aspects of this movie--and rightfully so. The proton and ghost special effects were totally astounding. You wished you had a proton pack. You sat down and drew a million pictures of Ecto-1 in your spare time. You begged mom for the Real Ghostbuster toyline figures. You made your parents rewind and play the Marshmellow Man scene a dozen times when it came up. The first 10 seconds of the Ghostbusters theme song gave you goosebumps.

Now it's time to keep all of this as a permanent part of your video collection (shame on you if you haven't already done so in the past 15 years!) Those who do not like this movie were comatose in the 80's and should not be listened to!

Summary: Ghostbusters: The Reason for Owning a DVD Player!
Review: I have grown up with "Ghostbusters", and was a fan of the cartoon series, the toys, and of course, the movies. I still am, and unfortunately, I wasn't all that pleased with Criterion's laserdisc release of the film. The picture contained a lot of noise, and the matte lines were so visible, that even director Ivan Reitman was upset about it. That's not the case here. With the release of "Ghostbusters" on DVD, digitally remastered and crammed to the gills with extras, including a live video commentary with Ivan Reitman and Harold Ramis that looks much like "Mystery Science Theater 3000", this makes the purpose of the invention of a DVD player clear! This DVD is excellent! It has everything I hoped for! They(Columbia/Tristar) really outdid themselves with this DVD. It includes numerous documentaries(instead of the usual 1 or 2), production photos, sketch artist drawings, and deleted scenes. Commenting on the deleted scenes, one of them was very strange, in which Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray play street bums instead of Venkman and Stantz, with Bill Murray doing his "Caddyshack" riff. It's amazing that the cameras rolled for it, but it's there. The only thing missing was the inclusion of a scene that found it's way into the Criterion laserdisc, which followed the three ghostbusters leaving the college and Venkman commenting on how "he's gonna win the nobel prize". Still, it also becomes intuitively obvious why those scenes were cut once you watch them. Anyway, if you have a DVD player and do not have this DVD, you are really missing out. It's hard to think why anyone would not want to add the "Ghostbusters" DVD to their collection. If you don't like it, your as dead as those ghosts running around.

Summary: Watch it again, for the first time
Review: If you watch this on DVD and have upgraded to Dolby Digital 5.1, it's like seeing a brand new movie. Great job by the studio remastering the soundtrack, and adding the extras that make DVD so much fun. Murray and Aykroyd--hilarious as always.

Summary: This DVD is great
Review: Not only is the movie one of the comedy classics in what has proven to be a strong decade for the genre, but it has been further enhanced by all the great special features on the DVD version of the filem. Deleted scenes, audio commentary by the director and one of the stars, special effects documentary, pre-production sketches all add up to one terrific DVD. I have seen some DVDs that are good movies, but don't have anything new to add, so why bother with the DVD version. Ghostbusters is not one of these. Buy the DVD for the movie, but continue to enjoy it for the special features that make it a great DVD.

Summary: Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Dan Ackroyd....need I say more?
Review: Everything Harold Ramis touches turns to gold; Animal House, Caddy Shack, Groundhog Day, Stripes and, of course, Ghost Busters. GB is a comedy classic blending clever humor and intelligent science fantasy. No, it's not even scary, just damn funny with enough of a supernatural coloring and engaging amount of pseudo-scientific babble to keep any fanzine geek happy. Actually, this movie is such a classic that I don't even know why I'm reviewing it...if you have yet to see this film, then you must not watch TV or go to the movies. If you have seen it and don't care for it, then you're probably a fan of European "art" films with boring story lines and terrible dialogue.... BUT HEY, even if you don't like sci-fi, and even if you don't like comedy (!), see this movie for the CUTE CHICKS; Sigourney Weaver, Annie Potts, and Slavitza Jovan (she plays Gozer...check her out in any of the B-movies she's been in the past 16 years...see the IMDB). See this movie and have some fun!

Summary: What Ya Gonna Watch?
Review: Simply put if you haven't seen "Ghostbusters" go out & rent it, buy it, borrow it, steal it, whatever. It is without a doubt one of the best comedies out there. The entire cast play off each other so well, somebody should have been nominated for an Oscar. If you can watch the DVD do it, esecially if you like to find out the behind the scenes stuff. The live comentary by Ivan Reitman and Harold Ramis is great, lots of little fun facts & bits of humor And if you are a fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000 you can set-up the live comentary with them at the bottom of the screen just like MST3K. I highly recomend any fan of the movie to get the DVD & if you are a fan of comedy I highly recomend this movie.

Summary: Good Movie, GREAT DVD
Review: You're getting your money's worth just from the movie, which is great with comedy and good acting. BUT, the DVD special features will blow your mind. I'd say you'll spend at least an hour or two playing around with these great special features.

Summary: It's the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man
Review: Ghostbusters is one of the greatest movies of all time. It is very funny and has very succesful foreshadowing for further events in this movie and or the next movie. Bill Murray is just an extremely funny guy and when you give hima back-up cast like this, you just can't go wrong. If you ask me, you could watch this movie and be content for days just playing it over and over in your head. It is such a great movie and i am surprised that Ivan Reitman (Animal House, Ghostbusters 2) did not get an oscar for the producing of this film. Harold Ramis (Stripes, Ghostbusters 2) should have also gotten a few oscars for writing it (with Dan Akyroid), directing it (again with Dan), and starring in it (yet again, with Dan). If i were Siskel and Ebert, it would get two thumbs up. But im not, so i am just going to say that it is a great movie and every person on earth should watch it. Your life is not complete until you see this movie.
