Rating: Summary: Throwing Up Review: That's what the title for this movie should have been. I'm going to complain that the Rental place I rented it from, didn't have a warning sign in front of this movie! I loved Sleepless & You've Got Mail, but this movie was flat, boring, went nowhere and it's characters were entirely un-relateable! What a Joke! Hey, here's an idea, why not include an actual profound thought in your movie? Or maybe something you don't see coming an astronomical unit away! I'm actually ashamed I rented it. I don't understand how anyone can actually like this movie. Maybe they're in denial. You've been warned!
Rating: Summary: It had potential Review: I went to see Hanging Up in hopes that I would get a great little family comedy. I mean, who could go wrong with Diane Keaton, Meg Ryan, and the late Walter Matthau? Oh, boy. Ohhh, boy. I'm sorry to say this, but Hanging Up was just terrible. The storyline was okay, the acting wasn't too bad, but the film just seemed as though it didn't know where to go. It just felt very disconnected and confused and wasn't even that funny. I couldn't relate to the characters, who seemed kind of cardboardish to me. I can just say that I sat through most of the movie, asking myself, "Why am I watching this?" Hanging Up needed to be more organized. It had potential to be a very charming, heartwarming comedy, but, unfortunately, it just fell flat on its face. Go out and look for something better.
Rating: Summary: Torturous Waste of Time Review: This movie was so bad that I want to tell everyone I know to SAVE THEIR MONEY! I would rate it a negative number if that was allowed. Not only was the acting terrible and story suicidally depressing, I couldn't believe it was billed as a comedy. The only thing funny was Diane Keaton playing Meg Ryan and Lisa Kudrow's older sister. Geez, she's like 100 or something isn't she? But the worst part, the absolutely worst part was Meg Ryan's irritatingly dirty, skanky, hacked off, jaggedy hair. I suppose it wasn't bad enough that her hair has been terrible in nearly every movie for quite a few years but this was the worse. How long does it take to get someone's hair to look that dirty and scabby? Reminds me of the hair on the drug addicts in "Drugstore Cowboy." Must take some magic ingredient or something to make it look that bad since I haven't seen it yet on Meg wannabes. Depressing, depressing, miss it at all costs. Should be taken off the market. I will never see another Nora Ephron movie as long as I live.
Rating: Summary: Hanging up should be hung Review: This movie markets itself as a comedy. The only thing comedic about it at all is that it thinks it's funny. This movie shoul be avoided at all costs. If someone invites you over to see this movie, leave the country. If it is given to you as a gift I would be questioning their frienship. I was so looking forward to seeing Meg Ryan but not even she was able to redeem this sad and sorry tale of three selfish sisters with two divorced selfish parents. Walter Matheau appears in this movie but forgets to act and rather ends up delivering a poorly written script that simply requires him to be mentally vacant, which he does deliver. Meg Ryans' child and husband (who are introduced as characters) in the movie, have no real role and simply fade into oblivion leaving you to wonder who on earth is looking after this child while she is off being a martyr. Lisa Kudrow (and I am a big fan of hers) presents a no-brainer performance as the soap star sister, whose only redeeming feature seems to be that she likes dogs (surely anyone that likes dogs can't be that bad). And as for Dianne Keaton, any casting agent who seriously expects the audience to believe she is the 40'ish year old sister of the gorgeous Lisa and Meg is an idiot. She looks more like their mother and acts more like a child. Don't bother with this movie, avoid it at all costs. Donate the money to charity that it would have cost you to see Hanging Up (at least that will make you feel better than having watched this trash).
Rating: Summary: quite a heartwarming story. Review: Before watching the movie, I was thinking that this might be another comedy of Meg Ryan's. But I already knew I was wrong after watching a bit of the movie. I like the story all in all. It's about 3 daughters' relationship with their dad, who is dying, and also about how these sisters feel for their dad and one another. I think all the actors and actresses in the movie did a good job, especially the father in it. But I find the storyline quite like a cliche, especially the ending, though I guess this movie is intended to be a tear-jerker of some sort. All in all, it definitely worths it if you want to go and rent a video. But I don't think you need to go and watch it at the theater.
Rating: Summary: HANGING UP Review: THIS MOVIE IS SAD,FUNNY,AND COOL I LOVED MEG RYAN IN THIS MOVIE SHE IS ONE OF THE BEST ACTRESSES THEIR IS.LISA KUDROW I HAVE LOVED HER SINCE FRIENDS STARTED SHE IS ALSO VERY FUNNY.
Rating: Summary: stupid is as stupid does Review: Please, this movie was so stupid and boring I want my 3 dollars for renting this ridiculous movie. Good actors but pittiful plot
Rating: Summary: Quite Adorable Actually Review: I have read the reviews listed here before renting this DVD, and they weren't very good, some people gave this movie one star. But since this movie has two great actresses (Meg Ryan, Lisa Kudrow), I decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. True, sometimes the drama takes over, and the comedy kind of fades off, but the result is an adorable film, that tends to put a smile upon your face. It's mainly about family relationships, presenting the ties that are put to a test when bad things happen. Meg Ryan has the lead role, and she does it best. This DVD also contains a very entertaining "gag reel" with actual bloopers that happened during the shooting. You can absolutely tell that they really enjoyed making this film, which is probably why I enjoyed watching it, although it doesn't have a cut-edge story, or holding your tummy kind of laughs.
Rating: Summary: not very good Review: When I first saw previews for this movie I thought it was going to be very funny but it wasnt. I am a big Walter Mattheau fan and he wasnt very funny in it. The movie is mostly sad and boring. I was disappointed in it. So I give it two stars.
Rating: Summary: Hang up and dial for a different movie! Review: I found the three blondes to be the only real jokes in the movie. The main characters drove me up the wall! I may never use my cell phone again.I would have rewound this flick after about ten minutes except my wife thought it would, must, get better. Wrong. But, if I had not sat through the whole thing then I would have missed that great closing music during the credits, Jay Mcshann singing "Once Upon A Time". If anyone knows where this track can be bought please let me know at jjoplin@nts-online.net.
