Review: Ok, so when are the people at Universal going to release their final versions of DVD releases first? I don't see why they make us buy one version one year then a better version the next. I love this film and enjoyed the extras on the first printing, but please...Universal, stop with the dual prints! If you print one collector's, make it a collector's edition. Not a preview to a better version of the same disc.

Summary: Extremely good movie, disappointing unrated edition.
Review: I like this film a lot and I don't care who knows it. It is funny, romantic, dramatic, truthful, funny and did I mention it's really, really funny. However, I was disappointed by the Un-rated version. It didn't have much changed from the old movie, maybe a little bit more explicit, but please! They could've at least made it sound as good as the cover promised. Don't worry too much though, it improves on the first movie's sexual details, and you'll still find the film as enjoyable and as rewatchable. The star-studded cast all do fantastically, bringing their sexually desperate feelings blazingly alive. Most are newcomers who have had small roles - Tara Reid in Urban Legend or Chris Owen in October Sky - but they are all promising roles as good as this one in the near future. The script is repeatedly clever with it's hilarity and although drink will be coming out your nose, for the most light-hearted people, tears may be coming out of your eyes. All in all, this is a - I'll repeat it again just so you understand fully - REALLY funny film that won't appeal to everyone, but for all viewers who are looking for some raunchy fun, don't miss American Pie! It is well worth the money and the time.

Review: "American Pie" was a much-needed film in the stuffed-shirt late 90's. Teen comedies had been run into the ground in the 80's and Pie brought them back into the fold.Shannon Elisabeth Rules, Tara Reid comes in a close second and Mena Survari rounds out the awesome threesome. Cannot wait to see the sequal.

Summary: Father-son relationship
Review: Even though I disagree with the way the movie dealt with the Father-Son relationship (you know, the father shows his son sex magazines!!), I do agree that fathers should be very widely open with their sons taking into consideration different levels of age. One other thing, I don't like the idea of making virginity like the middle east crisis. It is something very simple, and when right time comes, it disappears. We should remove the idea from teenagers' minds.

Summary: Alyson Hannigan Steals this Movie
Review: Face it, this might be a guy's movie (the humor goes that way), but Alyson Hannigan has the two funniest lines in this movie and one of them is a line she improved during rehersals. She steals scenes in this movie the same way she does on Buffy all the time. About time somebody gave her a starring role in a film, because based on what she did in "American Pie" imagine what she can do with an entire movie. Oh, the other neat thing about this movie is that all the guys who are watching it and all excited because its about a bunch of guys trying to get laid, sure have something new to think by the end of this film. Unless they are total morons, of course.

Summary: It's the "unrated" version and the difference is...
Review: ...wait, there's a difference? Let me just say up front: if you're thinking of getting this DVD for the "outrageous!" material, don't bother. Maybe, after growing up in a tabloid world, it's pretty hard to create something with shock value for us young people today. Or maybe this "too hot for the big screen!" stuff was just weak. [I should, to be fair, point out that the little quotes are from the ads and cover in Australia. I don't know if the region 1 version promotes it this way.] Anyway, I'm assuming that if you've looked this up you've already seen and appreciated the movie. So here's what you can expect from the disc: Commentary by director Paul Weitz, producer Chris Weitz, writer Adam Herz and cast members Eddie Kaye Thomas, Jason Biggs and Seann William Scott - Actually a well done track, with humor and notes on the production of the film. Basically, it's like listening to a group of guys you might know with some insight on technique. • Production notes - Usual stuff. If you're after some real detail, you know where to look. • Theatrical trailer(s) - So you can be reminded of how hilarious it is. Chances are you were subjected to endless trailers while it was being promoted, but in case you'd forgotten here's the evidence. • Outtakes - I was a little annoyed that they were shown in production format [poor sound, picture quality, ect]. None of it is really funny at all, the highlight being Jason Biggs practicing the pie scene. • Spotlight On Location - Not bad. Worth watching, but you won't feel the need to give it more that a couple of views. It's mostly the actors talking about their experience while making the movie, and comparing it to their own high school years. Example quote from Alyson Hannigan: "I was a walking hormone." • Universal Records Soundtrack Presentation & Music Highlights - Sample bits from the soundtrack. Pure promotional stuff. • Classic Quotes - They're in the movie. Why bother? Overall, I'd say that if you were 50/50 on if you liked this movie or not, you shouldn't get the DVD. But fans, like my brother, will enjoy it despite the slightly lacking special features. The best of which is the commentary.

Summary: America Pie DVD
Review: The consensus of the reviews is that this is a pretty solid movie in the "Porky's" genre, and I have to agree. The key to this movie is the solid performances by the principal actors. Chief among these is Chris Klein, as "Oz", who's angle is the "sensitive-thing", who ends up discovering real sensitivity and real love with choir-member Mena Suvari. Eddie Kaye Thomas is the biggest surprise as "Finch", who starts the movie with a "thing" against using public toilets, develops an angle whereby he spreads rumors of his sexual prowess, and then turns in a tour-de-force performance doing a James-Bond-smooth seduction of Stifler's mom (Jennifer Coolidge). (This movie contributes the expression "milf" to our culture -- the description of Stifler's mom as a "mom I'd like to f---") Jason Biggs as "Jim" turns in a nail-biting performance as a guy whose every contact with a girl inspires a heart attack or other explosive episode. Jim first has a botched try at the buxom Czech exchange student (Shannon Elizabeth), but then discovers the undiscovered country of band geek Michelle (Alyson Hannigan), whose every conversation starts with, "In band camp... ." Eugene Levy as Jim's dad is hilarious as the "hip" parent trying to get his son a belated orientation on bird and bees. Finally, Thomas Ian Nicholas is "Kevin" who alone has a steady girl, but can't seem to get past the hurdle of 3rd base. I expected the usual sophomoric hi-jinks endemic to this genre, and they *are* there (e.g., Will Stifler actually drink the tainted beer???). What I didn't expect was well-developed characters, who I ended up caring for, and a funny, funny script. This movie is a gem. Buy it! The DVD has an enjoyable director's commentary, which includes the comments of the principal actors. The quality of the DVD itself is excellent.

Review: Oh yes it is funny... but in a very explicit extreme way! Now-a-days it is not easy to create a commedy or to make viewers laugh! So it would be very easy to make a cheap type of commedy by building it with a sexual foundation! It is a successful commedy but with zero morality!

Summary: You've Gotta Laugh
Review: Before writing this, I thought, why don't I be intelligent and write that this is geared at virgin teens who want to learn about how to lose their virginity interspersed with some nudity simply to make money? But then I realised, although that may be one appeal of it, its just quite simply too funny to blast this movie. The gags are well written and its probably fairly accurate in its depiction of America in some ways with its awkward 'family values' meet 'i just wanna f**k' scenes and the uncomfortable implications. But its important to lighten up and not take this film too seriously. After all, it is a comedy, and after all, you gotta laugh.
