Summary: Pie Ala Mode
Review: 1999's AMERICAN PIE, in some ways, reinvigorated the "teen comedy" genre , which was a lost cause. Mixing raunchy humor with a certain amount of "realism". The film is a winner. 4 high school friends make a pact, to lose their virginity, by prom night. Hapless Jim (Jason Biggs), Jock star "OZ" (Chris Klien), Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas), and ecentric Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) all use various tacticts to win the coveted prize...

Directed by Paul Weitz, the film is, first and foremost, very funny. Suprisingly, the script by Adam Herz, balances the laughs, with an honesty, that you don't often find in films of this type. Another high point in the film is the casting. Everyone is quite good in their respective roles. The film has so many funny moments, it's hard to pick just one. Rest assured, if you have never seen the movie, you wont be disappointed with it.

I admit to being duped by Universal. I traded my Collector's Edition Unrated AMERICAN PIE DVD for the Ultimate Edition 2 disc set. Disc One features the widescreen fornat of the film. Disc Two has the full frame version. Aside from having both formats on sepatate discs, the extras remain the same, with few exceptions (that's why I only give this release 4 stars), 95% of the extras here are available on the other discs. Still you can not go wrong with having a piece of PIE for dessert. Recommended

Summary: It's the "unrated" version and the difference is...
Review: ...wait, there's a difference? Let me just say up front: if you're thinking of getting this DVD for the "outrageous!" material, don't bother. Maybe, after growing up in a tabloid world, it's pretty hard to create something with shock value for us young people today. Or maybe this "too hot for the big screen!" stuff was just weak. [I should, to be fair, point out that the little quotes are from the ads and cover in Australia. I don't know if the region 1 version promotes it this way.]

Anyway, I'm assuming that if you've looked this up you've already seen and appreciated the movie. So here's what you can expect from the disc:

Commentary by director Paul Weitz, producer Chris Weitz, writer Adam Herz and cast members Eddie Kaye Thomas, Jason Biggs and Seann William Scott - Actually a well done track, with humor and notes on the production of the film. Basically, it's like listening to a group of guys you might know with some insight on technique.

• Production notes - Usual stuff. If you're after some real detail, you know where to look.

• Theatrical trailer(s) - So you can be reminded of how hilarious it is. Chances are you were subjected to endless trailers while it was being promoted, but in case you'd forgotten here's the evidence.

• Outtakes - I was a little annoyed that they were shown in production format [poor sound, picture quality, ect]. None of it is really funny at all, the highlight being Jason Biggs practicing the pie scene.

• Spotlight On Location - Not bad. Worth watching, but you won't feel the need to give it more that a couple of views. It's mostly the actors talking about their experience while making the movie, and comparing it to their own high school years. Example quote from Alyson Hannigan: "I was a walking hormone."

• Universal Records Soundtrack Presentation & Music Highlights - Sample bits from the soundtrack. Pure promotional stuff.

• Classic Quotes - They're in the movie. Why bother?

Overall, I'd say that if you were 50/50 on if you liked this movie or not, you shouldn't get the DVD. But fans, like my brother, will enjoy it despite the slightly lacking special features. The best of which is the commentary.

Summary: Chuck This Pie In The Garbage
Review: This movie is one of the worst films ever to be recorded in American History. It is even worse than the awful and appauling Scooby Doo. The fact that the women are portrayed as nothing but sex-objects really pissed me off. I mean, haven't we had enough [***]? The whole movie is one big sterotype of teenagers. A piece of wasteful garbage. All the actors in this movie are talentless losers who I hope will get no where in life. Chuck this stinky piece of rotten apple pie in the garbage and go rent 'Real Women Have Curves' instead.

Summary: The Teen Movie of the 20th Century...
Review: This movie is definte teenage life. It's a lot of male humor for sure. The story revolves around four friends who are desperate to lose their virginity before graduation. It's funny, crazy and keeps a smile on your face. Let's look at some of the characters. Then one day they all make a pact to get laid before graduation.

Jim (Jason Biggs) - A shy, nice, desperate boy who doesn't have the best of luck with women. Has a crush on a Eastern European chick, Nadia (Shannon Elizabeth) that one day she comes over his house to study with him and she's changing in his room while he runs over to his buddy's house, because he broadcasted her on the internet with a mini camera so they can watch. Instead it goes out to the whole eastern directory. So instead of four guys watching, over 1,000 people are watching. While in his room, she looks at his playboys while he goes back to his room where she's naked. See what he'll do next.

Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas) - A easy going guy with a hot girlfriend named Vicky (Tara Reid). He's want to sleep with her desperately while she just wants him to say the three words, "I Love You." So he tries his best to complete his mission. See if he'll succeed.

Chris/OZ (Chris Klein)- A Lacrosse jock who thinks that it's so easy to get some. He was wrong. By taking the advise from a college girl, he decides to do it the right way by listening, being sensitive and nice instead of just demanding for it. He joins the choir where he meets Heather (Mena Suvari). See if he'll get lucky.

Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) - A somewhat weird guy who doesn't know his but from his elbow. He even goes home just to take a dump. Well anyways, he pays a girl to spread a reputation about him that he's good in bed. It works for a while. I'll tell you right now, he does get lucky, but see who he gets lucky with.

Last but not least, Stiffler (Seann William Scott) who is another Lacrosse jock who has such a big ego. He thinks he's so sexy and stunning and believe he can get lucky with any girl he wants. Will he get lucky too?

This movie is pure male humor. It is the teen movie for years to come. Buy this movie and you'll love it too.

Summary: Good, but it's been done before.
Review: Sure, we've all seen the teen gross-out comedies before this, but one measure up to its charm. What could be funnier than a bunch of high schoolers trying to lose their virginity? Oh, wait, we've seen this plot a million times.

That's not to say the movie is bad, just played out. By the middle of the movie you'll begin to predict what will happen to the five friends next.

Alot of scenes will make you laugh though. That's what makes it stand out above some of the others, such as "Porky's." The intro is worth seeing. The main character, Jim, played by Jason biggs, is caught watching scrambled porn by his mother. He convinced her it was just a nature documentary. "Jim's Dad" was made famous by this movie as he continued to involve himself in his son's sex live...

It's rated R for strong language, nudity, strong sexual content, and alcohol use. Not exactly a family film. It's worth renting, but be prepared to see the same old shenanigan's you've seen before.

Summary: EXCELLENT COMEDY , A MUST SEE
Review: American Pie is hands down one of the greatest comedies ever. This movie is raunchy, very funny, but it also has heart to it.The explict sex scenes crude humor, and strong language in this movie may be to much for some people but it doesnt bother me. Everybody says it influences teen sex and teen drinking, but this movie isnt just about teen sex and teen drinking its about growing up and the stuff teenagers go through. Jim is the dorky guy that tries to hard, Oz is the sensitive jock, Kevin is the guy who wants everthing to be perfect, Finch is the 40 year old living in a 18 year olds body, and Stifler is the wild crazy party guy. This movie also has great acting by, ( Jason Biggs, Chris Clien, Thomas Ian Nichols, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Sean William Scott, Tara Reid, Shannon Elizibeth, and of course Eugene Levy), a good script , and great first time directors. I would recommend this movie to people who like funny, raunchy, but heart warming comedies!!!!!

Summary: American pie- Get a piece. 3 and a half to 4 stars
Review: Ok, so it was gross, childish, immature, and it's been done many times before in better movies. But, and come close so you can get this the first time, IT WAS FUNNY!! From the beginning with the "sock incident" to the "pale ale" scene to the end with Allyson Hannagins character Michelle. My sides hurt from all the laughter. So here's the plot, Jim (Jason Biggs), Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas), Oz (Chris Klein) and Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas) make a pact one day at a party to lose their virginity before graduation. Kevins plan is to work on his girlfriend (Tara Reid) till she gives in, Oz (the jock) tries his charm on a choir girl (Mena Suvari), Finch (a 40 year old in an 18 year olds body) pays a girl (Natasha Lyonne) to tell her friends a few flattering lies about him, and Jim is basicly all around hopeless. His chances of getting any drop down to negative 10 when he's caught creaming his jeans from one touch of the lovely Nadia (Shannon Elizabeth). Now everyones plans goes according to... plan until they all basicly sabotage them selves one by one, some get help and some don't need it. But in the end everyone gets what they want. The movie is funny even though the premise of "getting some" has been around the movie industry since the invention of the camera. It's also been done better like in all the Porky's movies or National Lampoons Animal House. Now in my review I left out a few people but the two I missed that we all know about are Stifler (Seann William Scott) and Jim's dad (Eugene Levy) and they basicly steal the movie. Stiflers "pale ale" scene is hall of fame type stuff and Jim's dad giving Jim a little chat on sex is embarassingly funny. Stifler getting revenge on Finch is real gross and you can't stop laughing about but the way Finch got back at Stifler in the end was probably one of the worse things you could do to a guy. I can't really say much else about the movie because most of it you have to see for yourself and my review does the movie no justice. So if you like to laugh take an hour and a half out of your day and check this out. And for those of you who didn't like the film, deal with it. The movie has already been made and is in millions of homes around the world and there's nothing you can do about it. Your not getting your money back if you saw it in theaters, you can't return it if you bought the dvd, and you have to accept the fact that Hollywood will be making more of these movies down the line. They make them, we pay to watch them, we laugh, we go home, they get our money. You see the movie on tv do what I do when I see something I don't like (Ex: those phony religous shows or networks or Jerry Farwell), change the channel.

Summary: The best teen movie!
Review: The best movie in the world! Witty humor and sub-romantic qualities are put to life in this extremely enjoyable and highly entertaining raunch-fest! The stars and characters are a great ensemble as well!
The story centers around the coming-of-age of James/Jim (Jason Biggs), who fantasizes about girls often and even has crazy occurances with pornography, but never once has had a girlfriend. After a party, (in which he and his buddies hope to get laid, but have no such luck), thrown by goofball, semi-friend, Steve Stifler (Seann William Scott), the guys find out that the biggest nerd in school, Sherman the "Sherminator" (Chris Owen) claims to have gotten laid with a chick he just met; so he (Jim), Chris "Oz" Ostreicher (Chris Klein), Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas), and Paul/"Finch" (Eddie Kaye Thomas) all vowed to get laid before they graduate....but not just love 'em and leave 'em, but with some emotional standards and loving to it! The objects of their affections are: Vicky (Tara Reid), Heather (Mena Suvari), Michelle (Alyson Hannigan), Nadia (Shannon Elizabeth), and Jessica (Natasha Lyonne). The supporting cast includes Jennifer Coolidge as Stifler's Mom and Eugene Levy as Jim's Dad.
I will detail this more at another time!

Summary: I should've watched it in the first place...
Review: I used to hate this movie! It was with no good reason however. When it first came out for rental my roommate rented it. I had started a new job at the time and was unable to watch it because I had to go to bed in order to get up by 7:30 am. It was a week night and my roommate had some friends over. They laughed so much and so loud that I was unable to sleep. I had a hatred toward the movie because of this. As I laid in my bed with a pillow over my head, I thought how funny could that damn movie possibly be!! I know it's a silly reason for me to not have watched the movie till now, but I was so bias due to a nights sleep lost right before starting that new job. So now nearly 5 years later, and after seeing the 2 sequels, I brought myself to buy the unrated version. I now know why they were laughing so loud. It's not only funny but well written with great characters. So even tho I got to know the characters in AP2 and American Wedding, it was nice to rewind and see where it all started. And yes once again it was dumb of me to blame such a cool flick, but I still think my roommate was rude. He knew I had to get up early. Well thanks for listening to my somewhat tragic story, I just felt it would help me to explain how cool the movie turned out to be even after I hated it for so many years ..to no fault of it's own. ~UNRATED DVD includes: A spotlight on location featurette / Commentary with filmmakers / Outtakes / Soundtrack info & music video / Info about cast members & filmmakers / plus more.

Summary: An absolutely classic film and one of my fave ever.
Review: 'American Pie' is one of the greatest things ever to come out of the other side of the pond. Though I'm not sure it has the same following on this side of the Atlantic I am certainly one of the series biggest fans and it's easy to see why. An incredibly funny flick from start to finish and great performances from Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott and Eugene Levy who have become my favourite actors as a result of this fab trilogy. A must see
