Rating: Summary: Slower than watching my mom write a check at the market Review: Man, this was one slow movie. A lot of SJP's giggles and gam, but not enough substance. I bet that even Parker and Connick wouldn't watch this one. You shouldn't bother, either.
Rating: Summary: If you like "Sex In The City", then you'll love this... Review: Ok, I admit it. I don't care much for "Sex In The City". Hey, I'm a guy, and it's not a guy show. But hey, if you're a fan of Sara Jessica Parker and her brand of humor, you will probably like "Life Without Dick". Directed by Bix Skahill for Columbia Tristar pictures, this is a low-brow, romantic comedy starring Sara Jessica Parker and Harry Connick Jr. It runs aproximately 97 minutes on VHS. The movie opens with Parker's character, Colleen, accidentally killing her boyfriend while attempting to scare him because she believed he was cheating on her. Unbeknownst to our heroine, her boyfriend was on a hit list of a local Irish Mafia kingpin, and the hitman is none other than Harry Connick Jr. Connick plays a would-be hitman who has a gift for singing and an inability to kill people. The plot then follows these two unlikely lovers as they find that Colleen actually is a better hitman than Connick. Of course, in the end the bad guy gets caught, the odd couple really do fall in love, and life is grand. Woven into all this unlikelyhood are ironic twists, dumb cops, and various parodies. Fairly typical for a movie of this type. How would I rate this? I give it three stars, because you have to be a fan of the actors involved to even be interested in this movie. Not much intelligence is required to digest it, and it really is not that funny. It wanders, it meanders, it is hard to stay involved with, but then again, that's a Sara Jessica Parker trademark, isn't it? However, you gotta love Harry Connick Jr.'s voice. My suggestion would be to rent a good Robin Williams movie instead.
Rating: Summary: I love it! Review: This movie is so funny! Fresh performances from all involved, it has become a new favorite!
Rating: Summary: Fun movie Review: This movie was really well done. The cast was perfect and there were actually some laugh out loud scenes. Harry Connick plays a hit man that can't kill. He meets Sarah Jessica Parker, they fall in love, and she starts killing for him. Lots of cute twists and turns, and some sarcastic humor as well. For fans of these two actors, I definitely recommend this movie!
Rating: Summary: Bad, Bad, Bad Review: This movie was so bad that I had to turn the tape off. That was about 40 minutes into the movie. There is no story, and the characters are wooden and flat at best. I can't recommend anyone see this movie. Wait for reruns of Sex And The City, or Jackass. This movie is just too painful to watch.
Rating: Summary: Talk about middle of the road... Review: This movie wasn't great...but it wasn't horrible either. The only reason I rented it was because I'm madly in love with Harry Connick Jr. To tell you the truth, he acted better in Hope Floats and Memphis Belle. In this movie, he plays a hit man who, unfortunately, can't bring himself to kill anyone. The role didn't suit him at all. All he really did was stand around and look pretty...and sing. Sarah Jessica Parker plays his love interest, a nice girl who accidentally kills her loser boyfriend. She's a little off balance throughout the movie, though. Like she's been handed this role and she doesn't know what to do with it. And Johnny Knoxville...he was in the first half hour and that was it. Why in the world is his name on the cover along with Parker and Connick, Jr.? He's a minor character at best. But still, the movie wasn't a total loss. There are some hilarious scenes that save the movie and make up for everything else. Rent it if you plan on wasting an afternoon.
Rating: Summary: I laughed out loud. Review: What a great movie. Smart, off-beat comedy and perfectly cast. Sarah Jessica Parker is wonderful.
