Rating: Summary: It makes me cry everytime i watch it Review: I've seen the film about 5 times, and once in spanish. It is the only film that has made me cry everytime that i have seen it. I would recommend it too anyone who is a fan of emotional movies.
Rating: Summary: On a scale from 1 to 10 this movie is a 20! Review: This is my all time favorite movie. I have seen it about ten times, I have almost memorized the movie, and it still makes me cry every time!
Rating: Summary: Vada's Friend Thomas J. Review: In 1991 My Girl came to the movies. The director Howard Zieff directed My Girl 2 in 1994 My Girl 2 Opened on 2/11/94
Rating: Summary: This movie is the BEST! Review: This movie is my all time favorite movie! It is such a cute movie and Anna Chlumsky and Macaulay Culkin are the sweetest! It is the best movie ever made in my opinion!
Rating: Summary: Even more a tear-jerker than "Titanic"!!!! Review: Anna Chlumsky plays a very nice part in this movie with an all-star-cast. Vada Sultenfess's mother is dead (she's convinced her birth killed her mother), her father runs a funeral home, and her father's assistant is young, pretty... and could be her new mother. Then there's Thomas J. Thomas James Sennett, to be exact. The summer of 1972, when this story takes place, is a signifigant one for both of them. Vada's only friend, and her best friend. The only friend she also has is her former fifth-grade teacher, Mr. Bixler - who she has a crush on. Yet things aren't the same when someone steps on a beehive when the person's allergic and dies... but that person you will have to find out who!! (I promise you it is not Vada.)
Rating: Summary: A must see movie that is an absolute classic! Review: This movie is the best, great acting great music, great plot!! THE BEST MOVIE EVER>>>>>~~~~~~~~~!!!!
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Movies Ever Review: This movie first came out seven years ago when I was only fourteen years old. At the time, I knew just from seeing the commercial that I just HAD to see this movie if it was the only movie I saw all year. It turned out to more than fulfill my expectations. Anna Chulmsky is an amazing actress in this movie. She is adorable as the intelligent young Vada. She also does an amazing job at conveying Vada's thoughts and feelings. I have seen this movie seven or eight times by now, and I still cry every time I see it. If you want a lighthearted movie for your kids to enjoy, this movie isn't it. But if you're looking for a high quality tear jerk, pick up this one.
Rating: Summary: No less than the best film to reach our screens...ever! Review: The fist time i watched this film i vowed i was going to change my name by depol to Veda Sultanfuss, get a bike with streamers, a boy as a best mate an make sure he didn't go near bee's. this film tackles a lot of really good issues from a childs perspective. Veda has the trauma of believing she is responsible for her mothers death to deal with, along with the fact her father (harry) pays more attention to his new girlfriend than her and then to top it all of her best mate pops his cloggs! i cry ever time i watch it even thogh i know every line, pause and song. its funny, touching and a good sunday afternoon family film. if i hadn't of grown up with this film i hate to think what kind of person i'd have turned out to be =D...x
Rating: Summary: wonderful movie Review: Even thirteen years after its release, My Girl makes me cry every time I see it.
Rating: Summary: Why do I make myself watch this movie? Review: For reviewing purposes of course! But no matter how young/old I am when I watch it, I always end up trying to wipe away the tears, so no one notices! Highly embarrassing. About as bad as crying on a bus. But I think I'll be in my rocking chair, complaining about not being able to get my teeth in and I'll still be crying over this movie!
The movie is taken from a child's point of view, that of Vada Sultenfuss', played by Anna Chlumsky, who has since disappeared from the acting world. Although there are rumours of My Girl 3, called "Still My Girl". I think it would be fantastic for another one, although I don't see how they can do a grown up version of it really. Vada experiences everything in this movie: her first kiss (which wasn't that great, but I suppose everyone says their first kiss is their worst!), death, hormones, growing up, fancying a school teacher, a possible new mum, a screwed up gran, and life as a young girl who's best friend just so happens to be a boy. She's also a hypochondriac, who has had a chicken bone stuck at the back of her throat, and is practically on first terms with the doctor's receptionist. Her dad ignores her, and she thinks she killed her mum.
All this is nicely wrapped up in a sweet little film, with an outstanding cast: Dan Akyroyd, Jamie Lee Curtis (with hair) and an incredibly young Macaulay Culkin, before he divorced his parents and hit puberty.
The sequel is just as cute, but definitely not as touching. This will tug at your heartstrings, and have you bawling at whatever grand old age you are. I think what the movie is trying to say is what would you say to someone before they died/went away/lost touch. And I hate the thought of that ever happening.
If you've never seen this movie, then you don't know what you're missing out on. I can't imagine a guy having much fun watching it, unless he was a big fan of Dan Akyroyd. I think so many girls will identify with Vada in this movie, especially the "I'm haemorrhaging" scene! I think every girl will identify with THAT!
