Review: Filmed in the beautiful mountains of West Texas. Small, low budget film depicting life in small town. It truly does small towns justice. I live in the town of Fort Davis were this film was shot and it was a joy to see someone do a film like this. Even more joyous was that they used our mothers, fathers, aunts and uncles and our children to be a part of this Hollywood madness. Great job by Peter, Breckyn, Ethan, Eddie and most of all Tim. Oh last, but not least bravo to Dana and Peter. Good Work.

Summary: touches your heart, family safe
Review: Four boys who are friends since childhood ponder their lifelong promise to leave the remote, tiny town for Los Angeles when they graduate from high school. One is orphaned and living with his grandfather, another is the child of a life-long alcoholic, another the son of a rich oil man and finally one that is the son of a rancher who intends to pass the business off to his son.Different boys who become men, all with different families, commitments and hopes that they must deal with. Going from a town of 81 people to a town of 13 million seems exciting and overwhelming at the same time and the four must face the fact that some may stay behind because they want to and some might leave because they have to. It's nothing what any of them had foreseen and it puts their friendship to the test. The characters are real and if you've ever had friends that came from a small town, these guys will remind you of their most endearing qualities. The film doesn't put a stereotypical slant on these guys... they are educated and plan on going to college. They've heard of the Internet and actually know how to use a computer... they're not just riding broncos all day, chewin' tobacco and leaning on fence posts... but they do have a different perspective on life. They're less obsessed with "things" and more interested in getting out of the small town to meet other people and see how other folks live... and their friendship is the most important thing they have, in or out of Dancer, TX. For those from big cities who might read this review, I lived in Dallas for 30 years before moving to Denton, a town of 80,000... don't be misled that only folks from tiny little towns will be able to appreciate this film. My only negative comment would be that the DVD is without any extras. No interviews, cast bios or behind the scenes footage. How about interviews of some of the folks that actually live in the town this was filmed in? Word of mouth will continue to make this film popular in the video market and not having extras on the DVD makes it almost silly to have it on DVD to begin with. No nudity or foul language, car explosions or light-sabre duels... this is a realistic portrayal of real guys in a small town facing their families, their friendships and their future. If you're into action-only films, this will not satisfy, but rest assured this is not a coma-inducing film. It is cerebral and touching and I highly recommend it.

Shot in beautiful country, it tells the story of each of the town's four graduating high school seniors, with the impact of their decisions for their futures on their families and community. It has funny as well as sobering moments. The sense of caring for one another that can come in such a place makes me want to increase its population by at least 2 (with my husband and myself.)

Review: I don't begrudge anybody their opinion, but I'm amazed so many people actually like this film. It's perhaps the most boring film I've ever seen. Period. If it wasn't for the cast, which includes a good number of my favorites, this film might have received one star from me and a much more stinging review. There is no doubt that the relative slowness of the movie was to paint a more accurate portrayal of small town life, but how does that explain the poor dialogue? For someone who is about to move to LA I never got much feeling of excitement from Breckin Meyer. The friend who's father ran a ranch(can't remember his name) had a story which was very poorly characterized. Maybe it's me but this film nearly drove me to tears it was so dull. If you're like me and enjoy the work of Breckin Meyer, Peter Facinelli, and Ethan Embry you'd be better off watching Can't Hardly Wait. And for the best Breckin Meyer check out the movie Go.

Summary: Slice-of-life-changing-forever movie everyone can relate to.
Review: I liked the movie because it shows how very different people are drawn together, even though the individual life stories are radically different. It has that youthful "I'm gonna do it no matter what" grit that I think most people can relate to. Most people I know have some regret about decisions which were made in youth, good or bad. This movie explores that angle. The performances are very real even though some of the plot is very contrived and at times too cliche'.

Review: I think it was a great film. It was sweet & charming, and something the whole family can enjoy. Its the first movie I've seen in along time that does need profanity or nudity to make it enjoyable. I definatly recomend it!

Review: I was looking for a 'small' film filled with goodcharacters. The premise was enough, fine with me. 4 guys in a smalltown trying to decide if they will move on to the big city. You don't need much of a plot if the characters are good. The comic relief character is not well written and directed without restraint. The Robin Williams-Jar Jar Binks like character doesn't cut it. It even weakens the main premise. The other 3 main characters are surprisingly serious about their futures and that makes it interesting. But it is unlikely that they would take this idiot to the big city with them. They tried to mix pathos and slapstick in one character and it didn't work. My advice-- take that character and go against the stereotype somehow, please. Either make him smart and clumsy or dumb but hard-working ( a paper route in a town of 81 can't be hard work). Maybe give him a girlfriend. Something.
