Rating: Summary: Chevy's Best Movie Review: I'm not a Chevy Chase fan, but this is one of my favorite movies! I can't understand the one-star reviews (obviously bored teenagers with no imagination looking for an "Animal House"-type movie). The last 20 minutes are classic!
Rating: Summary: One of Chevy Chase's best movies! Review: If you have ever dreamed about quitting your job and moving to the country to get away from it all, this is your movie! It's not quite as easy as he thinks and the situations create hilarious comedy scenes. I especially enjoy the end of the movie with the "country Christmas" scenes. Absolutely hilarious.
Rating: Summary: A funny film! Review: In 1988,Warner Bros. distributed this hilarious comedy starring Chevy Chase as Andy Farmer,a freelance novelist. Madolyn Smith is Andy's wife who also writes. The Farmers move to a new home in the country, uncovering a few unpleasant surprises such as an unofficially interred corpse. The corpse is taken into police custody and moved to a cemetery. For the Farmers' wedding anniversary, the wife gets Andy a dog,but it immediately runs away. Then they get another dog that doesn't run away. Andy named it "Yellow Dog" because of the dog's fur color. The Farmers' marriage ends up on the rocks. What started that was Andy's wife immensely disliking Andy's not-yet-finished novel. Angry Andy throws it into the couple's burning fireplace(I hope you're happy,Mrs. Critic!"). She wanted it destroyed,I think. With plans for divorce in progress, the Farmers' house is on the real estate market. By Christmas, the Farmers have reconciled their differences, called off their divorce and the sale of their home. The film ends with the Farmers at a baseball game. This film was one of the many Chase has made since leaving NBC's "Saturday Night Live" in 1976. SNL was what drove Chase to superstardom. Smith's previous film credits include URBAN COWBOY and ALL OF ME. She later co-starred with Joe Pesci in 1991's THE SUPER.
Rating: Summary: Best of Chevy Chase (He thinks so too) Review: In classic slap stick form, Chevy Chase and the wonderful Madeline Smith deliver a winner. Often overlooked, this movie is actually a a full orchestrated, beauitfully filmed piece, with some classic humor. I have often heard Mr. Chase say that this is his favorite movie that he has done. I agree. If you don't get it, no problem, you just are not a fan a sophisticated, high level, slap stick. I mean come on, "cue the deer", "lamb fries", "he hooked him in the neck", it's really funny! We can hope that these two (Chase and Smith) will be together again. Enjoy this classic.
Rating: Summary: Very Funny Review: It is my favorite movie ever.It is about Andy Farmer(Chevy Chase)who moves to the country to write his stupid novel. He and his wife go threw many different changes. This is the best movie yet and I think you should watch it!
Rating: Summary: Funny Farm is good comedy Review: Just picked up the DVD today of funny farm, I watched the movie a dozen times on TV and always wanted to get the DVD, can't wait to see the great picture and sound it presents. A funny little film about a writer who travels to the town of Redbud, Vermont buys a home right in the middle of the country, to write his novel. When Andy Farmer & his wife enter red bud the chaos starts and the comedy begins. Own Funny Farm on DVD it's a keeper.
Rating: Summary: Just a Pleasure to Watch Review: Let me say that I'm not a big Chevy Chase fan - but I like this movie. The story of a couple, Andy and Elizabeth Farmer, who move from the daily grind of New York to the picturesque country setting of Rosebud, only to find their scenic utopia populated by a pack of small town lunatics. There are some truly funny moments: the cackling, alcoholic mailman who never stops; the bid to sell the house (cue the deer); the casket in the garden... it all works and provides for a good movie from beginning to end.
Rating: Summary: What was I thinking? Review: My friend and I made a very late night trip to [local store] to buy a DVD. I Went to the [price] section, in the mood for a light comedy. I narrowed my search to this and City Slickers. I had seen both, and remembered them both as funny. My friend convinced me that Funny Farm would be better for our mood, because it's funnier than City Slickers and not as sentimental. He forgot to mention one thing: this movie's pretty bad. I know it's a modern classic or whatever you'd like to call it, but please. Stop kidding yourself. I had forgotten how contrived 80% of the jokes were. And the DVD itself is worthless. I could have saved a few bucks, bought the VHS edition, and not missed out on a thing. The movie is presented in FULL SCREEN. Yes, I neglected to read the find print (it was late afterall) and don't try to tell me if given the option, anyone would pick pan and scan over 16:9. There are NO special features, either. I'm just bitter because I know I could have bought a much better product. Who knows, maybe you've got to be a kid to appreciate this one. But I'm going back to [local store] to get City Slickers.
Rating: Summary: Mellow comedy Review: Starts a little slow, but picks up over time. Make sure you are not expecting roll on the floor laughter, it never comes. But, you'll find that it is mildly amusing. My favorite scenes: the movers and "Mac", the movers and the bridge, the sign-stealing kids, and of course the "Lamb-Fries". Madelaine Smith-Osborne and Chevy Chase may not light up the screen, but they are believable in the serious scenes, of which there are only a few. Not a smash, but a cute film.
Rating: Summary: Bad tittle, something a Chevy Chase fan would like! Review: The Name Funny Farm is quite un-atractive it seems that there was quite a struggle to the writers whean it came to nameing wise.. Like I seiad it is something a Chevy Chase fan would like, I also see why Blockbuster doesnt even have it!. I think the only reason some people like it was becuase it stared Chevy Chase. I think I could have add-ed a little more humer to it or atleast make it more enteraning it seemed that the writers keep that it was a comady in the back of there heads instead of trying to write comady all over the movie! The DVD is quite poor to Just LAnege selection Scene Selection and interactive menu Not even the trailor to the movie! but it is quite doubtful that Warner Brothers would want to make a special edition on this movie.
