Summary: A "Must See" For Any Movie Fan!
Review: I saw "Wide Awake" on TV once and fell in love with it. This movie is so heartwarming and touching that I nearly cried at the end (and I'm not the kind of person who crys easily when it comes to movies!) The whole cast does a fantastic job-you couldn't have asked for a better cast-and it's just one of the best movies I've ever seen. If you don't believe me then go to your local video store and rent it. I can gaurentee that you'll love this movie! The only bad thing about this movie is that I had never even heard about it until I watched the "Air Bud" video, 'cause the "Air Bud" video had a preview for "Wide Awake". I don't even remember it playing at the movies!

Summary: A little movie with so much to say...
Review: I saw this film in the theatre when it was released and immediately urged friends and family to see it as well. It was one of those films that you can't stop thinking of for days. The cast was incomparable and the story line so touching. Anyone who can remember back to our innocent ideas of life when we are young will relate to this movie. But especially those who have dealt with such a loss, searched for answers and found the disapointment of what doesn't make sense at the moment but eventually leads to a greater realization at the end. An excellent film, for any age at any time.

Summary: Great movie!
Review: I saw this movie on TV last year during Christmas break. It's a good movie but there's bad acting. Joseph Cross is the worst actor I have ever seen. Can he ever act happy in his movies? He seems to be a little sad in which ever part he plays in. I saw the movie Jack Frost last year and he still seems a little sad. Oh well this is still a great movie even though if the acting is bad. A good film for the whole family to watch! I recommened this movie to everyone.

Summary: Inspiring, Interesting, Insightful, and Fun
Review: I think the the reviewer that gave this two stars not only didn't "get it" but also has a cynical attitude that needs an adjustment in order to see more objectively. He's just too biased!

I use to be a Catholic (no religion now) and did not attend Catholic school, but everyone heard the stories. This school experience (in the movie) seemed not that bad (positive actually) and even loving but also comical at times. The story was done very well and poses some interesting questions and has some equally interesting answers. The main character seems to be a precocious child but soon one also gets a glimpse of a higher consciousness and desire to know God that most adults haven't acquired. The boy searches to contact God in order to find out how his grandfather is. There are many well known actors in support roles which adds to the interest of the movie and I was quite surprised by the quality of the acting and the script even for the supporting characters. There was nice seemless flow throughout the entire movie which made one lose track of time, and then come away with even a more renewed belief of God and ITs many ways. This is one for your DVD library!

Summary: AN EXCELLENT FILM
Review: I watched the previews for this film when I rented "Marvin's Room". I was bawling at just the previews. Then the other day I was at the video store and saw this on the shelf and knew I had to get it. As soon as the movie started I was instantly in love with it. It really made me think and made me feel all warm and fuzzy. This movie was exactly what I was expecting and more. This is a great family movie and I would recommend this to anyone. I laughed, I cried and most of all I loved this movie.

Summary: An extraordinarily touching film about a child's grief.
Review: In a time when Hollywood appears to be attempting to deal with spiritual issues and failing abysmally (Michael, City of Angels, etc.), along comes "Wide Awake." I have no idea why this film wasn't more widely distributed. A totally charming film about grief, spirituality and how God is, in reality, all around us. I've seen this film three times now; my daughter adored it. Perhaps it will one day achieve the status it deserves (after all, wasn't "It's a Wonderful Life" received terribly when it first came out?). In the meantime, all I can say is RENT this film for yourself, for your family, for anyone struggling to come to grips with grief. Every performance was priceless; I cried throughout.

Summary: It's now one of my "Top 5"!
Review: In addition to agreeing with the other posted reviews, I would add: The other characters besides 'Joshua' were also important and will be identified with by many. Were you overweight and unsure of yourself at that age? Then you were 'Frank'. "All Boy" and ready for most anything? Then you were 'Dave'. And the movie teaches important lessons, as when 'Joshua' rushes out to say goodbye to the boy who has to leave school because of financial problems. The movie keeps you in suspense-- you 'know' that 'Joshua' will somehow find his answer-- but how? First the snow, and then... And I would say that most of us are searching like 'Joshua'-- for just some little 'sign' that God is real. What a wonderful confirmation when this boy finds that "...not all angels have wings"! Professional reviewers who did not like this one need some help.

Summary: Heart Warming and Awakening!
Review: It is a surprise to me that young Joseph Cross has not gone on to greater things as a hollywood actor. In this film he once again puts the adults to shame with his natural acting skills as he did in the film Jack Frost (1998). But now Joseph is getting back into acting in the American TV show "The O'keefes" in 2002/2003 and I hope that he may do another movie as an eigteen year old to see how his acting skills hav developed since he was ten years old. The film looks at the transaction from boy to man or girl to woman and how hard it is for kids to make that move. With issues such as death and the dissapearence of that "magic" as Josephs character Joshua describes it during the movie. From a world of creativity and unrestricted boudaries to just seeing the plastic and paint in a toy car. Th film also raises the issue of how we should allow children to handle the death of a loved one as Joshua has to manage when his grandpa dies of bone marrow cancer. It is shown that we shouldn't hide the facts of death from our childrebut discuss it openly and allow them to say their final goodbyes by allowing them t attend the funeral insead of keeping them away as I personally was as a child. In all this is a great movie with realism, humour and overall brilliant acting. Strongly recommended.

Review: Its one of the most beautiful - laugh & cry - movie i have seen in a long while. Its amazing that this movie has had such little publicity and was never released in the theatres.
