Summary: This hairbrained comedy will throw you out of your seat!
Review: This sophomoric comedy presents all which it should - immaturely styled jokes, crude sense of humor. Performances are outstanding! David Spade isn't his clever and witty self in this one. Anticipate familiar styles from crew such as Christopher Walken and Brittany Daniel. If you enjoy the Adam Sandler films, don't let yourself miss this one! Those who enjoy the sophisticated, and thinking types of humor - expect to find yourself deeply dissatisfied or enjoying something entirely different.

Summary: IT MADE ME LAUGH
Review: Movies like JOE DIRT can't be evaluated for script or quality values. It's a raucous, sometimes unfunny, but always entertaining movie that has enough laughs to keep you with it. David Spade mugs through the role with his usual agressive, though somewhat contained, bluster. The movie's cast consists of such stalwarts as Joe Don Baker, Rosanna Arquette, Brian Thompson (in his brief unveiling as Buffalo Bob), Adam Beach, Kathleen Freeman, Fred Ward, Dennis Miller and so on. The meteor joke is priceless and Kid Rock's attempt at acting as Robbie is also a good joke.
All in all, this isn't a classic comedy but it made me laugh.

Summary: THE BEST
Review: This movie starring David Spade is a great comedy for everyone. This is you tipical Spade movie that will keep you laughing for hours. This movie shows his trip to find his parents and along the way come lots of bad events that are so funny. He ends up finding them after he gets on a radio show that is based out of the building he is the janitor for.. I wont give away the ending but the ending is definitly not sad. If you like comedy you will love this movie and watch it over and over again. This movie is by far one of the best movies that David Soade has done and it shows threw out the whole movie!

Summary: joe dirt is still the best ever!!!
Review: I got this movie for my 33 1/2 birthday bash from josh and cara. Although they make a great couple they can't match the chemistry in this movie. Or the firepower. Or the scary part. This is a can't miss movie with all the same elements that made American Graffiti the gold standard in foreign films (foreign for us aussies mate). Please don't miss, and pay extra attention to the part where he's on that thing. It is great! I wish all movies had that thing! Anyway try giving this movie to an old friend and watch them cross you off of their "I hate you list" forever!!! It worked for me!

Summary: Joe Dirt Rocks...
Review: This is an excellent movie in itself - but you can often find yourself getting lost in the subplots. Yes, Joe is an interesting character - as is Buffalo Bob, `Chris O' and his friend Tony. I really like the way they, along with Joe, give Debbie a hard time with their SIRs and how they become data molesters along with Buffalo Bob. It brings them to the roots of their characters. I would recommend this as a gift or wedding present. I also like cornbread.

Summary: Christopher Walken Plays Clem
Review: GUILTY PLEASURE TIME!!! I love "Joe Dirt"! David Spade has captured perfectly the white-trash aesthetic here. The clothes, the trailer-parks, the music. "Van Halen, not Van Hagar!" We are completely in sympathy with this mullet-headed poor excuse for a redneck as he seeks out his white-trash parents who abandoned him at the Grand Canyon. I have known Joe Dirts in my life(truth be told I'm related to some), and David Spade is him. Good supporting turn by Dennis MIller as a radio talk-show host who uses Joe's poignant story for his audience's personal amusement. And Christopher Walken plays Clem.

Summary: Underrated. Spade's Best Work.
Review: Another reviewer stated he couldn't understand why professional critics give "films" like "Lost In Translation" five stars, and mainstream comedies such as this two. The reason is quite simple: It boils down to the "if you can't understand it, it must be deep" maxim by which directors hawk erstwhile incomprehensible fare as somehow profound.

Actually, I rate "Joe Dirt" a bit higher than "Lost in Translation," giving the latter three stars. I actually enjoyed Sofia Coppola's movie, but found the cinematography a bit wanting.

However, "Joe Dirt" has been slammed as a formulaic comedy. Indeed, that it is. However, the producers of this flick never make any intimations that this movie was anything other than what it was. Unlike "American Beauty," a compilation of suburban cliches and stale anti-bourgeoise gripes, "Joe Dirt" doesn't pretend it's the latest profundity emanating from the Dalai Lama.

And, what it is is good fun, some gross gags and a somewhat autobiographical story for David Spade. It's about dirty Joe Dirt, an abandoned orphan now grown up and living in the broom closet of a classic rock radio station. He's discovered by shock jock Zander Kelly (played by the ever droll Dennis Miller), who exploits Joe's life story for the entertainment of his radio audience.

Like so many movies of its kind, it uses the road trip analogy borrowed by so many comedies ever since Homer's "Odyssey." Joe -- who was abandoned as a child at Grand Canyon -- is searching for the parents who mislaid him so many year before. Along the way we meet tough guys that bully Joe (Joe Don Baker and Kid Rock), a real hot country gal (Brittany Daniel), an ex-mafioso hiding out as a janitor in a witness protection program (Christopher Walken, as suave as ever) and an American Indian shilling fireworks (Adam Beach).

"Joe Dirt" has a good number of sight gags and lots of literal toilet humor, involving crap meteorites and a-bomb RV toilet tanks ("I got the poo on me!" Joe cries, covered in dung). Walken has the movie's best line: "It's your tone, it's all wrong. Do it again, and I'll stab you in the face with a soldering iron.") There's even a hilarious send-up of "The Silence of the Lambs" in which transvestite Buffalo Bob (Brian Thompson) imprisons Joe in a hole in the floor.

Best of all, Joe's life is set to a great soundtrack of classic rock songs from the late 1970s and early 80s by great bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Doobie Brothers, Bachman-Turner-Overdrive, April Wine, George Thorogood and the Destroyers and Cheap Trick.

No, "Joe Dirt" is not nearly as profound as "Citizen Kane" nor as funny as "Young Frankenstein," but it's a solid film, and lots of fun, if you don't take a silly film as this seriously.

Summary: One Lame Joke after Another
Review: I often wuestion why so many people like certain movies, and this is one of them. Joe Dirt is a lame movie that pokes fun at the redneck stereotype from every possible angle and still screws it up.

The idea is that Joe Dirt (David Spade) is telling his life story to shock DJ Xander (Dennis Miller). He tells of how his parents abandoned him at the Grand Canyon and his journey to find them. However instead a funny touching movie you just get one lame joke after another until the cruelty of it all finally ends.

Don't waste your time, you can find better things to do with an hour and a half.
