Summary: If you don't like this movie get a lobotomy!
Review: There is nothing short of brilliant comedy in this film about a struggling movie producer(Martin) who reads "Chubby Rain" and decides to make the movie. But he can't get the biggest star in Hollywood, Kit Ramsey,(Murphy) to star in it. So he shoots it without letting Kit know he's in the film. Martin's script is genuinly funny and his performace is dead-on. Murphy is hilarious in both roles, especially Jiff. Heather Graham, a great actress, is wonderful playing a terrible actress. And Chrisitne Baranski is great as the over-the-top actress who thinks she's brilliant. Probably the funniest part is how truly bad "Chubby Rain" is. The laughs are non-stop and any comedy lover will see the brilliant wit that is Steve Martin. Believe me, this movie will keep you laughing and even has a good heart. The final sequence is hilarious and deserves its own movie. And there are great DVD features as well, like deleted scenes and outakes. BUY THIS MOVIE!

Summary: Could have been a bomb, but it's suprisingly good
Review: I think this movie is really good, especially if you take interest in how movies are made. The DVD is a very good special edition. Sure it doesn't break new ground or have fancy Ghostbuster-type menus, but content is what counts in the end, and this DVD delivers. Commentary track, documentary, outtakes, etc. Worth the money.

Summary: A classic comedy
Review: This film was a great comedy in its own right. It teams up Eddie Murphy & Steve Martin for the first time, and I'm sure not for the last. Martin plays his typical likeable part, this time as a B-film maker, and Murphy as Hollywood's hottest action heroes, and also his not so successful brother. Murphy is brilliant in both of his roles and steals the show, playing his best part since The Nutty Professor. The film is worth watching for the simple insane looks Murphy gives as his core character of Kit Ramsy, who believe that aliens are actually following him. To add to the film, Martins character decides to make a film (which Kit Ramsy does not know about), where aliens are in fact following Murphy. A very, very funny film, only American Pie made me laugh harder in 1999. The DVD has plenty of worthwhile extras, including commentary by director Frank Oz, and deleted scenes. As well has being a great film, a truly great DVD.

Summary: goofy fun
Review: Note that in addition to starring in this film, Steve Martin wrote the script, so don't expect more conventional fare like Trains, Planes and Automobiles. As in his frequent New Yorker contributions, Martin's writing here tends towards absurdist satire, and is unconcerned with creating believable characters or placing them in realistic situations. This film is about the maniacal lengths to which people will go in order to capture a bit of Hollywood magic, and celebrates that desire while at the same time satirizing it.

The DVD has plenty of worthwhile extras, including commentary by director Frank Oz. Alas, no commentary by Steve Martin.

Summary: Clever and hilarious Hollywood spoof
Review: This is one of the funniest movies I have seen in awhile. Some people seem to think it's too silly, but I loved the premise. Eddie Murphy's character, the number one action star in America, has no idea Steve Martin's schlocky movie about aliens is being filmed around him while he goes about his daily routine. What's so funny is his character has a real life paranoia about aliens, and believes it's really happening! This is Eddie Murphy's best role ever, playing both the flashy paranoid superstar and his nerdy, lovable brother at the same time. I also loved Martin's gutsy, sarcastic spoof of Hollywood's Scientology groupies, called "Mindbend". All the characters are great, especially Heather Graham and Robert Downey Jr.'s small but funny role. Buy this movie!

Summary: Not perfect but a return to form for Steve Martin
Review: It is clear that Steve Martin is at his best when performing his own material. This film is for the most part excellent fun (though the ending doesn't quite come up to scrach). The DVD has some nice features, although it's a shame DVD outtakes never last more than a few mintues.

Summary: Settle in for a nap
Review: I like Eddie Murphy & Steve Martin, so I thought this would be a great movie - boy was I wrong! I suppose if you were in the "movie business" this movie could be funny but for the average guy it's not. Mr Martin's & Mr.Murphy's performances were one dimensional & flat; of course with that script they would have to be.So settle in for that long winter's nap.

Summary: What a waste of potential talent
Review: As a very big Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy fan, I was VERY disapointed with this film. There was great potential in teaming these two comic talents together but the final film was very dull and a huge disapointment. Even the outakes were totally unfunny. If you want Steve Martins best then dump this and pick up Trains Planes and Automobiles.

Summary: Don't look for hidden meanings
Review: I have heard many people say they loved this movie and many say they couldn't find the funny parts. For those of you who can't FIND them, stop looking because they are right in front of your face. Sure I agree, this movie didn't have me laughing through the whole movie like some others. But the humor was perfectly balanced between the smart a$$ comments from Steve Martin (along with the lies he came up with on his feet) and the perfect portrayal of brothers by Eddie Murphy. He played the part of a paranoid overzealous superstar actor to the T, and we all know that he could play the part of the (somewhat) introverted brother. I really enjoyed watching a movie with different humor for once.

Summary: Wonderfully funny
Review: Beautifully done! Steve Martin has captured the essence of an artist who will do anything to make sure his work succeeds. Anyone who has a love of film and the making of movies will adore this cinematic treat. The script is hillarious, the actors are marvelous, and this film is a definate must-see. Enjoy!
