Summary: Bad Santa- Oh Is he Bad!
Review: Bad Santa, the new anti-holiday comedy from director Terry Zwigoff is one funny movie. It is just what you'd call hilarious and Billy Bob Thorton does make one very bad santa.
Thorton plays a lascivious, acoholic who works with an elf, (hilarious Tony Cox). They're both bad allright! They're business specializes in stealing, by working at different malls around the area and waiting for the right moments to take what they want. Soon a bartender (Lauren Graham) falls for Thorton. The story works out well, it's not amazing (obviously) but it does this movie just fine. As for humor, this movie receives a high rating on my scale. Note: If you find Christmas too sacrosant to joke about or if you don't like scenes using abusive language towards children, then you should skip this. Also Brett Kelly plays a kid, who think Thorton is a real Santa and won't leave him alone.
This is a dark comedy, no doubt. If you have a dark sense of humor, you should definetly look into it. Though the film is vulgar and some of the humor might be viewed as vile, it is entertaining all the way. Bad Santa is rated R for Pervasive Language, Strong Sexual Content and Some Violence. The language is consistent and seems to never end, the sexuality is fairly explicit, you mainly hear sounds, but some is shown. There are only about 3 sex scenes but none include nudity. The violence is reasonably mild, a shootout near the end, which surprisingly isn't bloody and some fistfights. Billy Bob Thorton has also received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor for his performance, he does make a great, bad santa, but I'm not sure if he deserves it. Other contenders include, Bill Murray for "Lost in Translation," and yet another nomination this year for Jack Nicholson for "Something's Gotta Give. All in all, a fine comedy, the one thing I might've changed was the constant profanity but I guess it helps make the movie even more funny. Worth seeing in theatres and not a bad pick for owning on Video or DVD.

Summary: Could've, would've, should've.. DIDN'T
Review: If your going to go this far you should go all the way. As off the wall as BAD SANTA is, it could have been darker and funnier. I don't know about anyone else but I didn't find Billy-Bob Thornton funny in this role. As many of you know by now he plays an alcoholic, swearing, pee upon himself, suicidal Santa Claus. And he does a convincing job, I just didn't think it was funny. Although many people were laughing out loud in the theater, I was just saying.. Why? I did laugh at the chubby kid. The way he responds to Thornton's character is the way I responded to the entire movie. You know when he asks a question, he asks it in such a straight forward honest tone of voice, and even when Thornton screams a mean spirited answer, the kid just keeps in character and ask another question calmly. So in short, my 2 stars is for the kid. Who ..during the making of this movie got cursed at more than most people get in a lifetime. BAD SANTA wasn't worth the free movie passes I wasted.

Summary: A Great DARK Comedy, but definitely NOT for the kids.
Review: Billy Bob Thornton gives a great portrayal of a guy who is so down and out, that even his dreams are down and out to us! For example, his dream is to "own a little bar on the beach and maybe marry a waitress." But, his serious alcohol problem dashes his hopes, it always has; so, each year he's worse off, physically and financially than the year before. Then he meets the most adorable "snot nosed kid" (Literally!) who invites Santa to stay at his house. Santa agrees (it's a free place to live and to rob!) but Santa begins to actually care for this kid. A great line from the movie comes from after Bad Santa has thrashed a bully, who has been harrassing the kid (we are spared having to watch the actual thrashing, thankfully). "I did something good today, I beat up a 15 year old kid and I feel really good about it!" As I said, his dreams and "accomplishments" are low to us.
I couldn't believe some of the "Professional film critics'" review of this film, saying it attacked one of the last icon of American culture. Get a clue guys, this movie is not about Santa at all. It's about how low some people are willing to go to make a buck and the profound changes that unconditional love can make. If you like ironic dark humor, without alot of gore, or graphic sex, you will enjoy this movie. I laughed the entire time! But keep it where the kids can't get to it, it's way inappropriate for them.

Summary: Best Christmas Movie Since Home Alone!
Review: Well, I loved Bad Santa and everything and I saw it three times in theatres but I kind of disliked the movie because it was so mean spirited. Kids certainly arent people I enjoy being around, but I dont like cuss them out or say mean things to them like Billy Bob Thortan did. But anyway, the movie was hilarious, I dont think Ive ever laughed harder or more consistantly at anything ( exept a 4 foot philopeno kid hitting on the waitress at Pizza Hut). Almost everyone that I talked to including people my age all told me not to see this movie because of its explicit language. But that surely didnt stop me and they all are fired. I really dont get what the big deal was over this movie because like i'm 15 and I am exposed to all sorts of graphic and bad language at school, and I hear it from everyone including teachers. It's a way better choice to take your "older" kids to rather then other comedies out right now. The movie may have a lot of bad word choice and sexual situations, but the ending and how willie and marcus change at the end sets a far better positive scene for its younger viewers. In conclusion, Bad Santa is very funny, but if you have a problom with profanity and sex this movie is not for you. But if you dont this movie is very much for you.

Summary: One-note movie
Review: I wonder sometimes what people see in these one-note comedies. You know the kind I mean--the kind in which there's not much to the movie beyond what you see in the poster. If you've seen that, and particularly if you've seen the trailer, is there really any need to actually sit through the movie? Billy Bob Thornton is mean and rude; he drinks and throws up on himself; and he's a petty criminal who rips off the department stores where he works. That's it. There's the joke.

Of course, this being a movie, the character must learn a valuable life lesson and earn some measure of redemption. The one positive thing I can say about this movie is that Zwigoff does NOT yield to what must have been intense pressure from the studio to make this film hokey as heck in the latter half. But it's still not much of a movie. But hey, most people seemed to love it, so if the idea of a really bad and disgusting guy as Santa Claus is funny to you, go for it. Billy Bob Thorton is certainly convincing in the role. Okay, that's two positive things.

Summary: Bad yes, but also has a sweeter side.
Review: I can't express in words how much I enjoyed this movie at the movies the day it came out. It was great, violence, language, funny dialog, then even some sweet moments. An all around, bound to be a classic, great (...) movie!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: IT'S REALLY A PRETTY SWEET SPIRITED MOVIE!
Review: (...)Bullies pick on the little boy (and it's pretty obvious WHY they do), but eventually Bad Santa comes to the rescue. It is (seriously) heartwarming to see the bad little demon spawn brats get put in their place by SANTA!

Cloris Leachman was in great form as the nutty grandmother left to care for the little boy. It's sad when you realize that he's being cared for by a senile old woman, and is effectively taking care of himself. One of the redeeming qualities of the movie is that Santa and his new woman friend look after the boy (okay, Santa's motives aren't purely altruistic, but he DOES end up taking care of the little fellow).

I'm a sucker for a story about a misfit child, have been rather nerdy myself growing up. I was almost in tears ONCE during the movie, when Santa was mean to him. But, the end was well worth the watery eyes. This movie actually has a HAPPY ENDING. Yes, I said a HAPPY ENDING!(...)

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Possibly the Funniest movie of all time
Review: I saw this movie the first night it came out. I was laughing my ass off the entire way through it. It isn't a kids movie because of the sexual situations and the vulgar language. But it is excellent. I can't wait for the unrated version on DVD. I recommend this for all of you looking for a laugh.
