Summary: Get Get Smart on DVD!!!
Review: Although this movie doesn't hold a candle to the original series, it's nice to see all the old characters again. Now...what we really need is for the Get Smart series to be released on DVD. It would be so cool to be able to go back and watch all of the old episodes. There's tons of special things that they could do with the discs, like when you click on a selection, one of the doors could open in the hall and/or Max hangs up the phone and crosses his arms in the phone booth and drops through the trap door. They could have a bonus disc with each season...maybe one that shows the gadgets of Get Smart, one that shows all of the Control or KAOS agents, one that talks about the guest stars or the spoofs, etc. Even if they don't put any extra stuff on them, I'll buy it. If you would be willing to buy the Get Smart series on DVD, leave a review for this movie or The Nude Bomb and say so. Maybe someone who matters will notice how many people love that series and someday they might release it. I mean if Gilligan's Island and Lost In Space can come out on DVD... The only big problem I could see for it coming out on DVD is that it spent time on 2 different networks, but that didn't stop it from syndication or from marketing collectibles. Anyways, we want our Max and 99!!!

Summary: Get Smart Again - OK, But Where's the Original Series
Review: As many who have created reviews here have said, when's the original series coming out? Probably the political correctness crowd would have a cow over this series, but who cares? It's got the Mel Brooks stamp on it.

As for this remake, yes it's got some of the old jokes in there. But instead of the cone of silence, they tried to one-up the original series by introducing "hover cover" and the "hall of hush". While these were good tries, I miss the Chief and Max trying to talk under the cone of silence. I also miss the original hallway Max walks down with all its doors. In the new version this hallway is out of commission. Boo!

Also, all the old characters are there, but they seem stale compared to the original cast, and of course, there's no Chief. Also, they try to get cute with Siegfried's character by giving him a double role. It doesn't work.

IF the execs get their heads screwed on straight and come out with these DVDs they should just skip the first year and go straight to year 2 when the series was in color. For the afficionados they can offer year 1 later, but to draw a better response they should just issue year 2 if they're going to do anything at all.

I agree with a lot of the comments made already regarding this series. With all the garbage available nowadays on DVD I can't see why they haven't already issued this series. But maybe the studio execs can't figure out how to tone down the original without ticking off half a dozen ethnic groups.

Some years ago I happened to see an episode of Get Smart on either TV Land or Nickelodeon. I thought it was a scream. It had one of those 60's comedy hacks on as "da craw" (the claw). Of course, Max didn't understand that he was trying to say claw, so the villian says "not da craw, DA CRAW!" And it had the same jokes in it about "get your knee off my chest" and the cone of silence and Max's claims to having "10 agents with dobermann's outside, would you believe it?"

Maybe it'll just take a little more time and buyer interest to bring this excellent series back.

Summary: The DVD mentioned below is an illegal bootleg - Avoid it!
Review: Get Smart has never been released legally on DVD and anyone selling them is selling illegally made copies. They claim to be selling the "complete show of 96 episodes," but there were 138 episodes, not 96, so you can see right at the start they're not reputable dealers. Remember, anyone selling bootlegs is inherently dishonest, as they are committing a crime by making and selling these bootlegs, so why would you expect them to be honest and fair in their dealings with you? Don't support piracy and I think it's pretty disgraceful that Amazon allows reviews that let people sell illegal bootlegs.

Summary: WE WANT GET SMART ORIGINAL TV SERIES!!!
Review: I teach at a community college, and this year, NOT ONE of my students knew "Get Smart". What is the owner waiting for, all of the original audience to get too old to see the TV? I would buy a DVD player if the original series came out. If anyone knows who owns the rights, post it, so we can all buy stock and pressure the brainless CEO holding up the show.

Summary: Now Lets Get The TV Show On DVD!
Review: I'm huge fan of the Get Smart TV show, I became a fan of this show when a local station started showing reruns and I thought it was one of the funniest classic TV comedies I had ever watched and I was disappointed when that station changed formats and stopped showing Get Smart so I was happy when Nick at Nite and TV Land began showing the episodes but diappointed when they stopped showing them too. I saw this reunion TV movie and though not as funny as the show I liked it and thought it was the best reunion TV movie I have ever seen and it didn't suck like most of the other reunion movies for classic TV shows which were dreadful! I like that this movie is on DVD but I think that the TV show should also be on DVD in complete season boxsets with some great extra features including commentary by Don Adams, Barbara Feldon, Bernie Koppell, Dick Gautier etc.
