Summary: Mindless Entertainment
Review: The first time I saw this film I thought it was a horrible mess. Liv Tyler's hysterics grated on my nerves and the entire film just seemed way too flaky. About a year or so later I was talking to a movie-buff friend who happened to mention how much she loved Empire Records. Now, this was a no-nonsense type girl whose judgement I'd always respected, so I didn't take her endorsement lightly. After we'd discussed it for a while, and she'd made a few thought-provoking points, I thought to myself, *maybe* I'll give it a second chance. As it turned out, it wasn't nearly as bad as I'd remembered. In fact, I just about fell in love with that kid Marc (Ethan Randall) - so goofy, so adorable, like a kid brother. I also noticed Coyote Shivers for the first time. (He plays punk-rocker "Berko", and does a rockin' rendition of 'Sugarhigh' on the rooftop at the end of the film.) As a result of this second viewing, I went on to discover more of Coyote's music, which turned out to be pretty cool, and we even chat occasionally about the Ramones, the band that inspired him. So, something good came out of it, all in all. It's not a bad film, really, so long as you're not expecting too much. The Liv Tyler scenes still annoy me, but overall, it's a good distraction from everyday life.

Summary: Great Movie, Not the BEST plot...
Review: I loved this movie, it WAS very stupid but halarious at the same time. It is almost like Blues Brothers as far as the humor goes. No, this movie does not have very much to say, and it doesn't shine a light on humanity, but if you are one of those people who likes not to have to think when you are watching a movie, then this is for you!!!

Summary: ... the Man! Save the Empire!
Review: If ever there was a movie that spoke more loudly all the crazy deep secrets my heart is crying, let it me Empire Records! The first time I rented it, I watched it 5 times easy, and since then I"ve seen it atleast 100 times, no joke! I have made new friends, and gotten closer to ones I have through this movie! So what if it didn't do so well in the Cinema, that only gave it more room for people to truly appreciate it for what it is w/o all the Hollywood Glitz and Glamour. Liv Tyler is amazing, her best role yet (Next to "That Thing You Do" & Armageddon") Johnny Whitworth...oh dont get me started! I'm still try to control my crush feelings! I'd have to say my favorite character was Deb, she was so real, totally dealing with her problems up front. Let this movie live on as a legacy of all that is good in teenagedom! Let there be Rock!

Summary: Unbelivable and stupid!
Review: Why did so many people like this film? I thought it was incredibly bad! why do we need to glorify kids who work in record stores, when that is where you usually get the worst customer service? Really stupid situations here...like when they all have a fake funeral for a depressed girl..and i mean they ALL do, so who is minding the store? The dumbest part was when a middle aged women UPS worker dances her way out of the store to alternative rock (something not right here)..and then we see some ballet dancer doing her thing at the listening station... i guess we are supposed to howl with laughter when we see two old ladies in their nightgowns and curlers in their hair show up to chug beer!! (COME ON!!) Oh yeah...everybody loves record store employees..they are the coolest people in the world! (online record stores are fine:-) )

Summary: A mess of a movie that somehow still works...
Review: From a critical standpoint the movie is all over the place, with wild swings in tone from scene to scene that don't fit. Yet for some reason the movie is still entertaining and works, as well as holds up to repeat viewings. Partially responsible is the cast of young hollywood stars who turn in fine performances and add quirks to their characters that make them all the more human and therefore more interesting. Renee Zelwegger in particular shines in a pre jerry maguire role as a kind hearted bimbo who is trying to be as perfect as can be. It's a lighthearted movie and is definitely something where you become more involved with watching how the characters react to the situation rather than what the situation is itself or where the plot may lead.

Summary: THE BEST MOVIE!!
Review: This is THE BEST MOVIE! I saw it when it made television getting repeated for a few years. It was definately good. Then, for my birthday I was asking my friends what movies we should rent. They all said Empire Records!! After we saw it, everyone was saying how great it was, and how you can never get tired of it. You positively should she it! You won't regret it.

Summary: Empire Records ROCKS!!
Review: I have been reading the other reviews here for "Empire Records", and noticed that most of you are probably under the age of 18. WEll, I am well over that age, and I still loved this movie!!! I have seen it several times now, and it is just one of the movies that have that unique quality - to be viewed many times - The story centers around a record store, Empire Records, which is about to be turned into a "Music Town", and the fact that one of the employee's, Dazed and Confused's pothead, Rory Cochrane, loses all the store's money in Atlantic city. When all the teen employees find out they go out of their way to save the little store. It's a day-in-the-life kind of film. It stars Anthony LaPaglia as the manager, Robin Tuney, Liv Tyler, Renee Zellwigger, Debi Mazar, Maxwell Caulfield, Brendan Sexton, and Ethan Embry. I thought that everyone was great in the film. And the soundtrack really rocks!! It is without a doubt, one of the best soundtracks ever, it is a big part of what makes the film so great. It's really just a fun, teenage romp of a film. For those teens at heart(like myself), it can be just as good as it was for the teens out there that have all given this movie rave reviews. ... (you won't be disappointed!!)

Summary: This Is An Ultimate Teen Movie!
Review: I was 10 when this movie came out, and even then I loved it. It spoke to me as this is what teenage life is like. It was and still is. I loved all the characters because they relate to someone that every teen has met in the teen-hood. I personally like AJ the "artist". I would tell anyone who has doubts to rent this movie and see if their opinion changes.
