Summary: Cute & Funny, A Must for Josh Duhamel Fans!
Review: I'll admit, this movie is a little cheesy. I went into the theater not knowing what to expect, and came out surprised but also perplexed. It was a cute and funny movie and Josh Duhamel was fantastic! Not a big fan of Topher Grace, but he really surprised me in this role. The plot, overall, wasn't that great, but if you allow yourself its very easy to fall in love with this movie. What surprised me was that it was pretty good, what perplexed me was the ending.

Review: "Win a Date With Tad Hamilton" doesn't entirely succeed at what it is trying to do, but it doesn't entirely fail either. It might be considered the bizarro world version of "Pretty in Pink" or a far less cynical version of "The Purple Rose of Cairo." It avoids lampooning either of its settings, small town America and Hollywood. That's just as well, since there are other movies to do that. Instead it has characters who speak intelligently and behave reasonably toward one another.I happen to adore Topher Grace, so I am inclined to be a little kinder to his character than I would be if he was played by, say, Joshua Jackson. Unfortunately, the screenplay doesn't share a fan's appreciation for a particular actor, and the movie doesn't capitalize on his strengths. Although nice to look at and at times appealing, he is a lot funnier and more charming on "That 70s Show," which I can see for free. Josh Duhumel steals the show out from under him, as a sincere but self absorbed A list actor who rehabs his image by dating a small town girl. I can't say I'm crazy about Kate Bosworth generally, but she does a competant job with what is an uninteresting character. (I was frequently distracted by the fact that she had two different colored eyes-- is she the love child of David Bowie and Jane Seymour?) The movie makes some strange choices. Some of the best dialogue is spoken by a seen-it-all bartender, who is openly in love with Topher Grace's character. The actress is right for the role, but the character is all wrong to be someone overcome with unrequited love for Topher Grace's straight-laced character. The movie could just as well have saved money and given the dialogue to Ginnefer Goodwin, who plays an equally sassy friend of Topher's. Instead, she spends her few scenes as a third wheel and doesn't seem to serve any other purpose. There are a number of things about "Tad" that don't work. The ending isn't entirely satisfying because the triangle isn't compelling or realistic. The 3 leads don't have much chemistry so I'm not sure either scenario would have provided a payoff. Watching the movie is pleasant enough, but it is already fading from memory.

Review: While intended for an older audience this movie is down there with the Lizzie Mc Guire Movie as possibly the worst movie for perpetuating stereotypes I have ever seen. You have the all-American blonde chick who has everything fall into her lap because of her looks. Please! You have the ... punk girl who is nothing more than that. Wouldn't the plot have improved if SHE was the one to win a date with Tad Hamilton?? But then, you wouldn't have any guys buying tickets to drool over the All-American blonde chick and all Hollywood cares about is the male audience, anyway. You have the tyrannical boss whose abusive tactics are all exusable because he wants the blonde employee chick like a cat wants a mouse. You have the actor who falls in love with her because she could pass for a Hollywood bombshell. Who writes these scripts?? Just another movie telling all females everywhere that if you're blonde and cute you'll get everything you want (which is shallow dreams of hot hunks fighting over you)if you're not, you better keep your Piggly Wiggly tag on because that's all you'll ever be. An interesting thing to observe here is that most of the reviews have been guys and they all liked it. Gee, I wonder why?

Summary: I really enjoyed this bad movie
Review: Win a Date with Tad Hamilton I am not sure how to rate this movie. It is bad, but not a horrible waste of time. The cast is great eye candy-even Topher Grace has appeal. The story is unoriginal. The acting is.... too good for the final cut, and the humor feels forced. But the movie also has moments (I think) that make you want to forget all the bad things. The ending is cheesy and awesome at the same time. (If I write anymore, I will end up hating this movie. I would rather have the pleasure of enjoying it at least for a few days.)

Summary: Ditch This Date
Review: After seeing a small ad for the frothy "Win A Date With Tad Hamilton!" and getting tickets to a special sneak preview, I was honestly looking forward to it. It stars some of Hollywood's newer and popular actors who starred in such films as "Blue Crush", "Traffic" and "Mona Lisa Smile", is directed by Robert Luketic, who has last summer's smash "Legally Blonde" to his credit, and is produced by Douglas Wick, who produced 2000's Best Picture "Gladiator". Plus, it's a romantic comedy, and I thought it would be a good choice for a night out with the girls. Unfortunately, it is none of these things, and is so poorly scripted that it's almost laughable. "Win A Date...", follows the story of Rosalee Futch (Kate Bosworth), a clerk at the local Piggly Wiggly mart in a small town in West Virginia, who along with her quirky friend and co-worker Cathy (Ginnifer Goodwin), dreams of meeting her movie star crush, heartthrob Tad Hamilton (Josh Duhamel). However, contrary to the image portrayed in his films, Hamilton is really the token Hollywood bad-boy, and after one too many scandals within the press, his agent and his manager decide to go to drastic measures to repair his image: release a nationwide contest to fly to California and go out on a date with the movie star, with all proceeds going to Tad's favorite charity. But, to Rosalee in West Virginia, it seems too good to be true when the nationwide contest is announced. Not long after she enters on a whim, she miraculously wins, much to the excitement of Cathy, and the dismay of her long-time friend and boss Pete (Topher Grace), who is secretly and desperately in love with her. In my opinion, "Win A Date With Tad Hamilton!" is one of those self-proclaimed romantic comedies that is an insult to the genre. Its plot, while interesting for around the first 15 minutes, begins taking odd, clumsy turns, with characters abandoning traits and opinions left and right that were established early on in the movie, just to keep the plot moving. The script, while having some funny moments mostly carried by Topher Grace, is poor, almost as if the writers started pulling plot twists out of a hat after running out of ideas as to where to take the film. Performance wise, Topher Grace and Ginnifer Goodwin are really the only highlights with their quirky sense of humor and physical comedy, but even then, the portrayals grow tiring and repetitive. In a bizarre choice, Tad Hamilton's manager (Sean Hayes) and agent (Nathan Lane) are both named Richard Levy, and sadly, both of their talents are wasted within their pointless and annoying characters. Kate Bosworth is reasonably likeable, given the sense of the writing, but she is a bit bland, like much of the cast. Overall, this movie has some amusing scenes and a good soundtrack, but in the end, the script is just too corny and clumsy to do romantic comedies as a whole proud.

Review: I got the honor of seeing the sneak preview last night for this movie. It was the greatest movie ever. There are no words to decscribe it because it was sooooo good. It was fantastic, faboulous...everything. Kate Bostworth was cute in her role as Rosalee, a small-town West Virginian who enters a charity contest to win a date with a Tom Cruish like actor, Tad Hamilton. She wins the contest and goes to Hollywood, inwhich Tad ends up falling for her. Josh Duhamel from NBC's "Las Vegas" plays Tad. He shines in this movie! Soon, Tad comes to West Virginia because he wants her goodness to rub off on him. Rosealee's best friend Pete (Topher Grace )is also falling in love with her at the same time. This movie is the best movie of 2004, thus far and is destined to become a hit. Everyone, GO SEE IT!!!!!

Summary: Enjoyable but flawed....
Review: In a nutshell, a film stars management team (played by the Birdcage's Nathan Lane and Will & Grace's Sean Hayes) creates a competition for someone to win a date with their star Tad Hamilton, in order to quash his bad press. Kate Bosworth (from Blue Crush) wins, much to the jealousy of her best friends, played by Mona Lisa Smile's Ginnifer Goodwin, and Traffic's Topher Grace, which in turn creates a love triangle, when the film star (played by Josh Duhamel) falls for her, Topher's character having been in love with her for his whole life. The film is charming, and well acted, especially by Bosworth and Duhamel who are both very believable. The film is a fun but predictable romantic comedy, but it is ultimately flawed. Problem 1: Tad Hamilton is charming, rich, successful, famous and a nice guy.
Problem 2: Tophers character is geeky and annoying. You know the film is rooting for Topher to finally win the girl - but in my opinion Tads character simply wasn't nasty enough. He makes a couple of mistakes, but ultimately I was left wanting her to stay with Tad. You know how the film will end and you just want it to be different, leaving me unsatisfied. However the film is fun, and I did enjoy it. It's well acted, charming and sweet. Special mention should go to the music, which I was constantly aware of throughout the film, especially 'Shining' by Kristian Leontiou (I have since learned).

Summary: Surprisingly Wonderful!
Review: Ok I admit it...this movie looked dumber than dumb...but I finally broke down and watched it. I laughed the whole way through! It is incredibly funny, charming, and very well written. Topher is awesome as the Piggly Wiggly manager! Anyway, if you are anything like me, you will look at the front cover and maybe watch a couple of trailers for this one, but PLEASE do not let them fool you...this movie is GREAT!

Summary: Cute, fun, extra point for cutting all Paris Hilton scenes
Review: Like others, I was surprised at how much I liked this movie (probably had a lot to do with how cute Kate Bosworth is in it). It has its flaws (the depth of the relationship between Bosworth's character and Pete isn't explored enough) but it succeeds well as a romantic comedy with a nice message to it. If you watch the extras you'll notice that all Paris Hilton's scenes were deleted (or at least I didn't notice any that remained). I give the movie extra points for this!
