Summary: Cute Enough
Review: This movie is very fun and very charming. It's what every girl dreams about-- to meet and date a very handsome movie star. Rosalee (Bosworth) gets just that when she wins a date with Tad Hamilton.Hamilton, played by the extremely cute Josh Duhamel, is a wild boy womanizer who has to clean up his image if he wants the movie role of a lifetime. He agrees to take part in the "Win a Date" contest just so he can take out a small town girl and win over the press, who have been slamming his previous recklessness. Rosalee is the winner, who gushes over Tad, and is so small town she's never been in a limo and doesn't know fancy restaurant etiquette. Long, drawn out, story short-- Tad falls for Rosalee, realizing that her wholesomeness is endearing. Don't let Tad Hamilton or even Josh Duhamel win you over. Let Topher Grace, who plays Rosalee's boss at the Piggly Wiggly. Grace is magnificent, he delivers lines better than most, he's cute, he's funny, and he's the real star of this movie. Definitely give this movie a try. You'll probably like it. It's a good story with fun characters that you can stand to be around for two hours.

Summary: Not quite, but okay
Review: First things first. The story is quite unbelieveable, and the script didn't help it all that much. I could buy the whole win-a-date contest, but I didn't buy Tad Hamilton (Josh Duhammal) deciding to drop his life in Hollywood because he wanted to soak up some of Rosalee's "goodness." Every piece of dialogue that came out of Tad's mouth was so fake. Rosalee (Kate Bosworth) doesn't help it all that much, either. Bosworth plays the typical girl from most other romantic comedies that giggles, smiles too much, and just reaks of glee. HOWEVER... I give the film 3 stars mainly because of the supporting players. Topher Grace, who plays Rosalee's best friend Pete who is secretly in love with her, is wonderful. His sarcasm, witty one-liners, and adorable face make him such a likeable character. Whereas I was left dumbfounded as to how Rosalee fell for Tad's flat, empty romantic lines (though I blame that more on the writers for writing Tad's uninspired lines), I thoroughly enjoyed her interaction with Pete. You even forgive the fact that she's completely oblivious to Pete's crush on her, because unlike most other films where the crush is practically thrown out there, Pete's affection is fairly low-key and you can understand why Rosalee hasn't a clue. Nathan Lane and Sean Hayes are also absolutely fantastic as Tad's two neurotic agents. These two had me cracking up in every scene they were, particularly in a scene where Tad decides to take a movie role and they chant incessantly "He's going back to Cali!" just before Sean Hayes' character falls backward into the bushes from jumping around so much. Also watch for the scene where Nathan Lane's character is fighting with Tad on the phone about "nailing" the girl. All in all, this film definitely isn't a complete waste of time. It's worth the watch just for Topher Grace, really. If you can get over the Tad's cheesiness and forgive the film for having Tad's character be so fake and ingenuine in general, you'll probably like it.

Summary: Enjoyable but flawed....
Review: In a nutshell, a film stars management team (played by the Birdcage's Nathan Lane and Will & Grace's Sean Hayes) creates a competition for someone to win a date with their star Tad Hamilton, in order to quash his bad press. Kate Bosworth (from Blue Crush) wins, much to the jealousy of her best friends, played by Mona Lisa Smile's Ginnifer Goodwin, and Traffic's Topher Grace, which in turn creates a love triangle, when the film star (played by Josh Duhamel) falls for her, Topher's character having been in love with her for his whole life. The film is charming, and well acted, especially by Bosworth and Duhamel who are both very believable. The film is a fun but predictable romantic comedy, but it is ultimately flawed. Problem 1: Tad Hamilton is charming, rich, successful, famous and a nice guy.
Problem 2: Tophers character is geeky and annoying. You know the film is rooting for Topher to finally win the girl - but in my opinion Tads character simply wasn't nasty enough. He makes a couple of mistakes, but ultimately I was left wanting her to stay with Tad. You know how the film will end and you just want it to be different, leaving me unsatisfied. However the film is fun, and I did enjoy it. It's well acted, charming and sweet. Special mention should go to the music, which I was constantly aware of throughout the film, especially 'Shining' by Kristian Leontiou (I have since learned).

Review: What a nice surprise! I was wandering through the video store a few days ago and came across this gem! I never saw much press for it, but really liked Topher Grace from "That 70's Show" and thought Kate Bosworth was just adorable so I thought I'd give it a try! A simple story, but so well done! Anyone looking for an honest, sweet story, this one's for you!!

Summary: fun romantic comedy with a likable cast
Review: I think it got good reviews when it first came out, and though reviewers have been less enthusiastic with the dvd release, I was pleasantly entertained by this fun, romantic comedy. The cast is quite likable, with Kate Bosworth as a West Virginia grocery clerk who wins a date with Josh Duhamel's Hollywood hunk needing a PR boost. Also in the mix: Topher Grace as the young store manager secretly in love with Bosworth's Rosalee. The supporting cast includes fine performances from Gary Cole, Nathan Lane and Sean Hayes, and while the plot itself is predictable, the dialogue is quite good. DVD extras include 16 deleted scenes, a gag reel, stills, cast and crew information and production notes. The film can be heard in English or French and subtitles are available in English, French or Spanish.

Summary: teenage fun not without problems
Review: This is your typical love triangle, which showcases three very attractive actors. I have to admit that I love this movie genera (clueless girl-gets-guy-in-the-end). Although this movie was cute, there were several areas in the script that I found problematic. First of all, could the lead (whose character was too cutsey to be believable) really be so clueless that she doesn't know that her friend is in love with her after he tries to sabatoge her dates? What about after this quick-witted guy can't find the words to tell her "something"? And although Topher Grace is a good actor, I would have liked to have seen them use an actor without standard good looks, perhaps an actor cute but heavy (in the scene with both guys shirts off, they both looked pretty hunky). The gags in this movie are heavy handed, and usually last about twice as long as they should. At the end of the movie (and this may "give away" the predictable end), we don't know what happens to Tad. Was he reformed by his time spent with Rosalee, or did he return to his former bad-boy ways? It also wasn't clear to me if he didn't love her, or if he DID love her and just didn't know how to express it in any way other than as "the actor". Is it all that we care about that Rosalee gets goes back to the guy who has loved her all his life? Another warning: some of the dialogue is unbelievably cheesy, although it is recognized as cheesy in the movie. For a more engaging movie that ends with satisfaction instead of open questions, see Princess Diaries instead. If you want hunky guys with their shirts off and can overlook the problems, see Win a Date with Tad Hamilton.

Summary: A Pleasant Surprise!
Review: I was expecting this movie to be the typical romantic comedy; I was indeed quite surprised to find it a very entertaining film. Believe it or not, that's why I watch movies. Some people have called this movie predictable, but I think it did a good job approaching the typical - "girl wants to be with the jerk, when there's a really nice guy standing right beside her" - script from a fresh point of view. Josh Duhamel played the "Hollywood Big-head" (Tad Hamilton) to perfection; totally out of touch with the REAL WORLD. Dagnabbit, everyone's heard of Piggly Wiggly! Well, okay, maybe it's just me 'cause I have relatives in Alabama. :-) Kate Bosworth (as Rosalee) was excellent as the small town girl with the chance of a lifetime; a date with Tad. I disagree with the people criticizing her performance in this movie. I think this was her best work yet. This is one of the best romantic comedies in a while. It was a little strange getting used to seeing Topher Grace (as Pete, the man really in love with Rosalee) in anything but "That 70's Show", but eventually I was able to do so...at least before the end of the film. The part of the movie where he talks to Tad in the bathroom stall is great, and possibly the best part in the film. That whole "six smiles" thing worked well with me. If you are truly in love with someone, you'll see things about them no one else does. I think it is a bad idea to give away entire plots in a review, so I'm not going to go into all the details, but this was a heartwarming and funny screenplay turned into an excellent movie. Some of the people who have very small parts in this film really delivered great performances. The two actors playing Tad's agent and manager were hilarious. The actress who plays Rosalee's friend did a great job in her role too. Some of the actors mentioned above, but not named: Nathan Lane, Sean Hayes, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Gary Cole are all fantastic! Review: 'Win a Date" is a cute little movie. It's a no brainer. You'll know what happens from the first second. The characters are charming, and some scenes are funny. You might no fall out of your seat laughing, but you will crack a smile. A good part of the movie is how it twists the stereotypical plot lines around (I won't elaborate) An enjoyable movie with a lot of heart.

Summary: Win a Date with Disappointment
Review: I wanted to love this movie. Honestly. But after about 30 minutes of horrid acting and predictable plot lines, I have to be truthful: The movie is awful. And for me to say that about a romantic comedy, that's pretty rare. I just kept wanting Kate Bosworth to loosen up. I wanted to believe one thing she was saying. I got to the point where I didn't care what happened. All I wanted to see was the credits. I'm not sure whether to blame the director, actors, or writer for this poor film, so I'll just blame them all and call it a day. If you want a good romantic comedy. Try Serendipity, Kissing Jessica Stein, or Shallow Hal.

Summary: Predictable Predicatable
Review: It is not so much that the movie was predictable. As much as just didn't wasn't all that great.The saving grace of this movie was Topher Grace who is just an amazing gifted actor from Traffic,Ocean Eleven, and so on. Made it worthwhile to see this movie. Not to mention the talented actress who played Kate Bosworth best friend was underuse in this movie. Josh who is great in the series Las Vegas not so in this movie.
