Rating: Summary: How to laugh with a fair comedy Review: This movie's script is not original: there's a couple of beautiful people, there's a bet, in the beginning what matters is personal interests, then they fall in love, after that there's the moment when you thing everything' s going to go wrong, and then in the end... well, if you'r older than ten and if you have not lived in a nuclear shelter, you already knows what happens in the end. So, what makes this movie worth watching? First, the acting. Kate Hudson's blonde presence, great acting and a smile that could melt Stalin's heart, and McConnaughey's surprisngly good comic vein were great chemistry on screen. The supporting cast is also appropriated and funny. Second, the comic situations. There are lots of good jokes, and none of them is crude or low-level. I laughed hard at some scenes. Third, the dialogue. Fast, intelligent and coherent. So, "How to loose a guy in ten days" is not revolutionary in any sense, but as a light romantic comedy (as it was intended to be) it's very good. Recommended as an entertainment for a Tuesday rainy night. Grade 8.1/10
Rating: Summary: So-so Review: The movie was okay. I didn't get to see it in theatres and was glad to not have spend the money to see it. The character played by Kate Hudson was supposed to lose this guy in ten days for an article she was to write about. The character played by Matthew McConauhey was supposed to make her fall in love with him. However, both were short-changing themselves and it showed from the beginning they met. I'm not going to say it was the worst movie to watch but it wasn't all that it was hyped up to be either. The only thing worth watching were the fashions worn in New York City.
Rating: Summary: eh, it was okay, but I've seen better. Review: This movie, It was kind of funny because the jokes were there, and some women (notice I'm saying some not ALL) would do what Kate Hudson did, and I feel sorry for the charactor of Matthew M. who had to put up with it. Like I said before It had some okay jokes, but it was way to predictable, and I think hollywood could have done better. A whole lot better.
Rating: Summary: Shooting Ducks In A Barrel 3 Review: North east, it sounds like you took USA's biting review personally. You are certainly allowed to like this movie as much as you want. I saw it with USA (I'm his wife) and I thought it was okay. Yes, he is an opinionated snob. But he watches the ocasional date movie with me just to be nice--which he CAN be. Then he vents by writing a review. I've warned him about being so over the top sarcastic in these reviews but he won't listen. In his defence though, he did say "We" throughout the review. He doesn't feel any less of a slave than anyone else so rest assured.
Rating: Summary: Not Impressive--How to kill your career in 2 hours Review: There was no chemistry between these two. The plot was tired, and there were no twists. You could see everything coming a mile away. I had high hopes. But it was boring.
Rating: Summary: Funny Review: God I laughed so hard. Hudson and McConaughey are the perfect couple in this comedy for the masses. I loved the "love fern" and B.S. game. Come to think of it, all of the comedy was actually funny. A great movie especially for dates, your man may even love it. Great movie, good DVD.
Rating: Summary: Saved by the actors Review: Would have given it three and a half stars, if the option was available. Kate Hudson plays an aspiring journalist who assigned a job at her less-than-serious-journalism-beauty-magazine called "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days." Her assignment: Find a poor, unexpecting schmuck, make him fall in love overnight, and then do all the annoying little stereotypical quirks that girls do to push guys away - she must get rid of him in 10 days. Matthew M. plays an egotistical womanizing guy who makes a bet with his friends that he can make some poor unexpecting girl fall in love with him in 10 days. What a coincedence -shocker!- these two meet!!! Yeah, I know! I couldn't believe it, either! The rest of the movie is Kate Hudson doing everything she can to be annoying (she succeeds with flying colors!) and Matthew doing everything in his power to be a sweet, sensitive, and understanding boyfriend to try to make her fall for him. There are funny parts, and there are also extremely predictable and dull parts. But, the movie is saved by the acting of both Kate Hudson (who is too cute for words) and Matthew M. (um, hello? sexy as hell) I liked it. Not the best comedy of the year, but definitely worth watching. I think it makes a pretty good date movie, since there is the romance and girl humor for the girls, and guy humor for the guys.
Rating: Summary: Fresh Comedy Review: I don't usually like romantic comedies, as mostly they are too sentimental and cheesy for my personal liking, but I was pleasently surprised with how much I enjoyed How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days. The story, production and acting are all good, and the film is an old fashioned entertainment flick that keeps a smile or two on your face throughout its appx 110 minutes. However, what distinguished this film from dozens or so romantic comedies is Kate Hudson. She made me enjoy the movie much more than I thought I would, and it is her best role to date, an actress who has matured well on screen, who is very pretty, cute, fresh, with a contagious smile that lights up the screen. It is so easy to fall in love with this movie just for Kate Hudson alone, not in ten days, but in ten minutes..easily!
Rating: Summary: Great movie, Review: I loved this film, it compares to Pretty Woman and that says something!!! I thought it was funny and romantic, and they really seemed to suit each other. Thank god I did not see it in the cinema as I would have totally embarassed myself with my laugh. It is a total feel good chick flick, so get your wine, munchies, etc and get rid of your man, invite your friends over and relax. It was not even as predictable as I assumed it would be, unlike the comments above. The things she does to the poor man, are hilarious, so go out and watch it now.
Rating: Summary: Classic Romantic Comedy Review: For a feel good factor, this film comes out tops. However, as a comedy i think it has little to offer - it's a bit predictable and the script is limited. As i watched it even i could think of better ways to secure a laugh. But if you're a fan of the actors in it, it's a must buy as the acting is really varied. As i said, with a better script this film could have been so much better. But as it is, it's just like any other romantic comedy - i'd say of about the same "funnyness" level of Meg Ryan's "Kate And Leopold." So, if you laughed at that......
