Summary: Purely Entertaining!!
Review: Ever wonder what it would be like to go back to high school as an adult? That is what Jon Cryer's (also in Pretty in Pink, great movie) character has to do to hide out from some people who are trying to kill him. He changes from a bearded broker in the big city to a clean shaven, t-shirt wearing "kid" in a different town, staying with his cousin and even fooling his aunt (she doesn't know it's him!) There is a nice mix of comedy, romance, and action in this movie.

Summary: "Olie Olie Ox and Free!" Re-release HIDING OUT!
Review: Hiding Out is one of the best 80's teen films I have ever viewed. Which is why I was extremely upset when a neighbor 'accidentally' taped over my 10 year old copy of Hiding Out. I find myself reciting lines from its plethora of one-liners in its script and I become extremely nostalgic for the film. 'major nosebleed' 'that's my man, Lamar in the gym working on the pom-pom squad' 'he had this sort of Dracula hair do'...all of these lines are quite acceptable in everyday conversation and yet, when I admit that I took these from a movie, I have no way of sharing this awesome movie with my aquaintences. It is imperative that this film is rereleased onto video. The youth of the country needs to fall in love with Jon Cryer and Keith Coogan once again.

Summary: A lot of fun!
Review: I know what you must be thinking: what the h*ll is he talking about? I'm not talking about the movie in general, which is OK, but rather a specific scene in which a teacher tries to brainwash kids into thinking Nixon was a great president. Come ON. Have you ever known a teacher like that? Of course not. The brainwashing from high school teachers comes from the other side of the political spectrum. That scene is a good example of the insidious left-ness of Hollywood.

Anyhow, watch the movie, it's pretty entertaining, but be alert for covert political messages.

Summary: A lot of fun!
Review: I really enjoyed this movie. It was a bit uneven in places, but overall, a lot of fun!

And a note for the gentleman (?) whose review precedes mine: Yes, teachers like that really do exist, or did when I went to high school [late 1960's] I agree, if you have not experienced a teacher like this, you might think she was an overdrawn caricature, but in reality, the teacher in this movie could easily have passed for Mrs. H****. [Eerily, the physical resemblance was quite strong too! It would not surprise me to find that someone involved in this film went to my school as well!]

A great part of the charm of this movie is that, despite some comedic exaggeration and slapsticky moments, it resonates with most of us who went to high school in the second half of the last century. And probably those going to high school now will still recognize elements of their experiences.

Summary: GREAT MOVIE
Review: I was old enough and saw it when it first came out and have been hooked on it ever since. I have recently been wanting to purchase it and can't find it anywhere. It has got to be one of the funniest movies. I totally feel in love with Jon Cryer in this movie. I wish the movie studios would read these reviews and decide to re-release this movie PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: How Can You Not Like This Movie? Name from a Coffee Can?
Review: I was really impressed with the HBO to Video now DVD. So hidden has this movie been from the spotlight that it I am impressed at how little press it has ever gotten. I own the video and will some day buy the DVD.

This movie takes you from the Boston Stock market and trainyards to an small outlying city where John Cryer hides out at his cousins high school. This is a great story with a rather plausible plot. There are some very funny scenes when Cryer, playing Max, has to explain why he knows so much for a high school senior.

As he faces up to the challenges of 'teen age' he becomes more liked by his 'peers' and gets volunteered to the be the Sr. Class President.

He is hiding out because he is a witness in a case against a mobster for trading issues that involved Cryer (Andrew Morenski) and his team. One of his associates gets bumped off by a hitman and Morenski has to run. And the hitman is relentless in his pursuit of Morenski.

There are some very touching scenes, a little romance and really an introduction to a talented Annabeth Gish. Cryer gets in the middle of all the high school antics and frustrations.

It is an amazing comparison between an adult who has become of age and facing death, but renewing his life as a 'youth.'

As a comedy I rate it a 5 out of 5.

As a romance I rate it a 4 out of 5.

As an action thriller I rate it a 4.5 out of 5.

There is a little language, some blood, a lot of action and a great story. Add this little gem to your DVD library and enjoy it from time to time with family and friends. So many will wonder where the movie came from and thank you for introducing them to it.
