Rating: Summary: A waste of the talents of good actors/actresses Review: I just saw this movie in theatres. Hopefully the review will help people when the DVD comes out. This movie is a disappointment, big time. You know a movie is a disappointment when the plot cannot keep you interested and you start to notice how the minute things are so awful. The plot is mother and daughter (Sigourney Weaver and Jennifer Love Hewitt) con well-to-do men into marriage, fake seductions, then quick divorces. Weaver tries to seduce Gene Hackman, and Hewitt tries to con a guy that she actually falls in love with. Mayhem soon follows. Here is why the movie doesn't work: if Weaver is the con genius that she is, why doesn't she research Russian language and culture before pretending to be Russian? The only word she can correctly use is "Da" (Yes). While flirting with Hackman, she calls him a babooshka (Grandmother). He obviously, since movies always work this way, takes her to a Russian restaurant, when she can't speak the language and avoids disaster only by singing (in English) a version of the Beatles' "Back in the USSR" that makes you grind your teeth. Another thing: do the people involved with the movie honestly think men are that stupid? Ray Liotta's character is still in love with Weaver, after she wrongs him, because he wants basically to sleep with her. Hewitt treats a man like dirt, but she all of a sudden pretends to like him, and he instantly falls in love, for no reason than apparently her cleavage. The whole point of the movie seems to be some feminist ideal that all men are hormone-crazy pigs that will do anything for sex, a point they try to prove by having Weaver and Hewitt dress one step better than hookers and use their wardrobe in heavy advertising to try and lure men in to watch. (The reason I saw the movie in theatres is because I was with a group of friends - both guys and gals - that wanted to go see it.) The third thing that bothers me is the treatment of the tobacco industry. Yes, cigarettes kill, but people who smoke know what the risks are and are dumb enough to do it anyway, thereby deserving what happens to them. Hackman is portrayed as a disgusting old man because he is a tobacco tycoon. He talks of doing tests on children, kills his pet by second-hand smoke etc. Ok, the director does not like smoking. We get the point. I spent half the movie thinking the director must be getting a little money from the government for helping their lawsuit-happy anti-tobacco ways. Additionally, the inter-character relationships work out the same way as a dull tv drama does; the over-protective mother, the daughter that treats her mother like dirt because she wrongly feels unloved, etc. To sum it up, Hackman and Weaver give the best performance they can given the script, Hewitt runs around angrily, and Liotta plays a role too silly to watch. The man is just too good of an actor to play the character he plays. This is one that maybe would be worth the two dollars to rent, since the humor is pretty light-hearted, but it is not worth the twenty to thirty dollars that the DVD will run when it comes out.
Rating: Summary: It was the best movie this year Review: I think that Hewitt and Weaver were really good in it. Especally Hewitt she was the best. I have seen the movie 5 times it was the best movie this year.I liket the coning part that was a good idea.

Rating: Summary: 3 words- FUNNY FUNNY FUNNY Review: Singorny and Hewitt area great pair in this movie. Two con women (singorny and hewitt) con rich men into marrying them expect for hewitt (page) falls in love with a guy she tried to con but she fell in love with him see the movie to see what happens
Rating: Summary: HeartLoving Review: A mother (Weaver) and her daughter (Love-Hewitt) form a con-man scheme based in Palm Beach, Florida. (Jason Lee plays a bartender whom JLH's character picks as a mark for a con, but romantic sparks come between them...; Gene Hackman plays one of their more wealthy targets.)
Rating: Summary: Highly disappointing Review: I thought with this great cast and this funny premise they could make SOMETHING out of this movie, but sadly they did not. Other than a few good one-liners (thus two stars rather than one), this movie stinks. Cliches galore, bad jokes, bad acting, and bad writing. If you want to see a good con-artist movie, get Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with Steve Martin & Michael Caine. Heartbreakers is not worth 90 minutes of your time.
Rating: Summary: Heartbreakers (2001) Review: Sigourney Weaver broke free from ALIEN image and left it behind her and has taken up on a new, sexy image for this hilarious comedy that is directed by David Mirkin. ANGELA NORDINO (played by Sigourney Weaver) is a beautiful, intelligent woman. But she can never find the right man to be with. She has already been married twelve times, but they always seemed to end after 24 hours after she catches her them with another woman. Her divorce settlements helped cheer Angela up, since all the men she has married were, indeed, very wealthy. Angela has finally found the right one: DEAN CUMANNO (played by Ray Liotta), a wealthy businessman in the automobile business. They have dated for four months and their wedding day has finally arrived. After their reception, Dean and Max head upstairs and gear up for the consummation, but Angela seemed to have a little too much wine, for she has passed out on the bed. She wakes up the next morning, claiming to be sick to the stomach. Dean has to run to the office for an hour or two before they leave for their honeymoon. He arrives at the office and checks on a Mercedes, which is his wedding gift to Angela. His secretary, WENDY (played by Jennifer Love Hewitt), is writing up the necessary papers for the Mercedes. He signs the papers and Wendy goes on her way seems to have accidentally dropped the papers, which leads Dean into kissing Wendy. He stops himself, remembering that his married, but Wendy is sexy as hell, so how can he resist. Angela walks in and finds Dean with Wendy. Angela is now filing for her thirteenth divorce. Angela's divorce settlement is another great success, where she made $300,000 and the Mercedes. Angela drives up to a gas station and finds Wendy exiting a cab. She heads over to Angela and takes off, what seems to be, a wig. This whole thing was all planned out. 'Angela Nordino' is not her real name. Her real name is MAX CONNERS. 'WENDY' is not Dean's secretary's real name. Her real name is PAIGE CONNERS and she is Max's daughter. Paige is Max's beautiful daughter and the two work as mother-daughter con artists, where Max leads the men into a serious relationship and then leads them to the alter. Paige comes in as the men's secretary and seduces them the day after the wedding, causing Max to file for divorce and receive a hefty divorce settlement. After this one, Paige wants to go off on her own, thinking Max has taught her everything she needs to know. Max finally agrees and the two go to New York to divide up their money. But when they get to New York, they meet GLORIA VOGAL (played by Ann Bancroft), who works for the IRS. Seems as though the IRS has taken all of Max and Paige's money and the two have only 90 days to pay. In the car, Max is handing Paige the money she needs to survive on her own, but Paige agrees to pull one more con in order to help pay off the IRS and go her own way. They relocate to Palm Beach, Florida. Not only do they pull off love-cons, they pull off every con possible. They pull up to a very posh hotel and make that their temporary address for their stay. Instead putting aside a reservation or renting a room on the spot, they pull the traditional flopper-diver. They are taken to a suite and told they are allowed to rent the suite for free during their stay as a compliment to Paige's supposed accident. As they search for their next target, Dean plans to find 'Angela' and try and get back together with her. Paige and Max search for their next target. They find WILLIAM TENSY (played by Gene Hackman) who works for the Tensy Tobacco company and is worth $3,000,000,000 in divorce and Max is interested, despite the fact that he is 5x older than she. They decide to target William for their next score. During the early stages of this con, Paige meets JACK WITHROWE (played by Jason Lee), a bartender who, is worth $1.5 million in divorce. Paige tries to aim for Jack, but screws it up by falling in love with him. Max picks out another alias, this time, she is 'OLGA EVANOVA', a beautiful Russian woman. William immediately falls under Max's plan and begins falling in love with her. Max seems to have a new record. The first twelve times, it took her only three months to get the men to propose. For Dean, it took four months. But William is so in love with Max that it only took a her one month to get him to propose. She has already gotten Paige to go for the job as William's housekeeper, after he had to fire his old housekeeper, Ms. Madress, who was set up by Max and Paige, for robbing Max. By this time, Max has already found out that Paige is trying to pull a con on Jack, which she has no problem with, but has problem with her falling in love with Jack. Max comes home from lunch with a friend and prepares to have William propose to her by printing up a fake departure letter, that states that 'Olga' has to return to Russia. William says he was going to propose, but is informed that if he proposes, then the letter means nothing. But William, who is never seen without a cigarette, coughs himself to death... literally. Will Max find another target? Will Paige go through with her love for Jack? Find out by watching this hilarious comedy as these two sex bots take over your TV set.
Rating: Summary: HEARTBREAKERS Review: FUNNY FUNNY AND FUNNY. I LOVE THIS MOVIE. IT IS SO FUNNY AND HAS GREAT ACTORS LIKE JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT GENE HACKMENAND RAY LIOTTA. ITS IN MY TOP 10 MOVIES.
Rating: Summary: This Movie Is No Heartbreaker Review: "Heartbreakers" stars Sigourney Weaver, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ray Liotta, Gene Hackman, and others. This is a great comedy for all ages. Its humor keeps its viewers laughing during and after watching. Its theme of a woman who cons many men offers many interesting twists and turns, always keeping everyone interested. Such theme takes a big turn when her daughter begins sliding away from her for a man, whom she truly falls in love with. The suspense builds as her most recent ex-husband searches for her. The writers are brilliant. The actors offer their own humor. Sigourney Weaver performs her role as the con artist wonderfully. Her fake russian accent can fool anyone. Her performance of "Back In the USSR" almost lives up to the original Beatles version. Gene Hackman's role as her latest victim is hilarious. The smoke constantly blowing out of his mouth and his nostrils gives the movie its own flamboyance. Everyone else also acts their roles wonderfully. "Heartbreakers" is a great comedy for those looking for a laugh fest. This unforgettable experience will not disappoint its viewers. Those wanting more should also watch the special features. They have many interesting clips: deleted scenes (including Weaver's full performance of "Back In the USSR"), interviews, behind the scenes footage, and more.
Rating: Summary: Cute...But Is It Worth The Rental Fee?? Review: The best I can say about "Heartbreakers" is that, at times, I laughed! This is billed as a lightweight romantic comedy/con caper. As cons go, it is all too predictable - as a matter of fact, I believe it's been done before, and better, in "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels." And any romance involved here is lukewarm, at best.
Sigourney Weaver and Jennifer Love-Hewett play mother daughter grifters, Maxine and Page Conners, (and a variety of colorful aliases), on the lookout for any man wealthy enough to be bilked for all he's got. Curvy Moma Conners is on husband number 13, and her aide-de-camp, 20 year-old Page, has her own game going with Jack, (Jason Lee), a monied bar owner. The duo also has a vast repertoire of money-making scams, from putting glass in restaurant food for a free meal to securing a complimentary suite of rooms in a posh Palm Beach hotel. At first these con-games are funny, but after a while they grow old and one can see them coming a mile away.
The IRS threatens jail unless Maxine and Page come up with undeclared back taxes. So they're off for "one last score." Ray Liotta plays Dean Cumanno, the last man Max ripped-off. He is still wildly in love with her, even after she took him to the cleaners and got his Mercedes to boot. He takes off in pursuit not knowing all the facts about his ex. Ailing billionaire tobacco baron William Tensy, (Gene Hackman), who looks a few days over one hundred, with ashen, liver-spotted skin, pink nose and a 5 pack-a-day-man's hacking cough, is the next target. I must say, Weaver, playing the Russian vamp Olga, makes for some big laughs, and she has the accent down pat. And Hackman is so disgusting, he's cool! There's a wild dinner scene where she is asked to sing in Russian, which could be worth the rental price alone. Unfortunately, Love-Hewett, who does petulant with a capitol "P", has an extremely limited range.
The film moves at a reasonable pace, although not fast enough to make it work as a comedy. It starts good, but goes downhill way before the conclusion. And it's far too long at 123 minutes - I mean this is NOT "War and Peace." Weaver, who has a knack for comedy, gets to ham it up and have fun. Apparently director Dave Mirkin wants his audience to focus on his stars' natural assets. There is enough cleavage shown here to warrant the attendance of any man who wants to watch. However, the continual, although partial, baring of boobs is just another cliche. The characters are likeable and the chemistry is good, especially between mother and daughter - but good will and likeable are not enough to hold a film together. This one needs more cement!
