Summary: Cult musical comedy finally available and worth the wait
Review: As with the original Little Shop of Horrors, technical quality is not the issue here. This silly little film represents at least a minor landmark in cinema history and now that it's available on DVD, everyone can judge for themselves. Schlock doesn't begin to describe the technical aspects, but Cindy Williams is a delight as Rosie the Secretary, giving a performance alternately subtle and outrageous. Years of Laverne and Shirley may have done more harm than good to her overall reputation, but this film shows that she could have been the equal of Goldie Hawn in films.

Lots of special features in the DVD (including several Easter Eggs), but grab one soon, as the bonus soundtrack CD will not be included in later pressings.

Summary: This movie needs a parka, it's so cool.
Review: Buy this dvd now. Take out your collective credit cards, People, and click your collective buttons. I first rented this movie a few years ago after it was recommended by a friend. The quality was disgusting, but it was such a great movie that I still watched it over and over again. There was comedy, there was romance, there were Dancing Dildos. Now it is available as a brand spanking new DVD and there is STILL comedy, there is STILL romance, and there are STILL Dancing Dildos. Though I do not yet have my personal copy, I did see a screening of it and the transfer is great. Order your own copy now and like me, you will be dancing around your house singing Dancing Dildos all the live long day. Not only that, but other favorites, such as Orgasm, Lesbian Butch Dyke, and of course, the lovely title song. Not only THAT, but there are so many wonderful extras on this dvd that you will become an expert in Nudie Musical trivia. So, Everyone, order your own copy of this bee-u-tee-full DVD and put your feet up, eat some cheese slices, eat some ham chunks, drink some Diet Coke, and sing along to "Perversion" with the whole family.

Summary: Ha, I say.
Review: For the record, Rebecca DID, in fact, see this DVD. Rebecca also saw the video. When one has seen the video, the quality of which is less than exemplary, one appreciates the DVD, which is as good as it could possibly be. Of course Nudie Musical does not look like the latest Speilberg movie. Criticizing this is like bemoaning the fact that silent movies lack snappy dialogue.

Summary: Two stars might be generous
Review: Hmmm, I'm not quite sure which DVD most of you were watching, but I personally didn't think the transfer was all that amazing. The sound was ok at best and as I said earlier, the transfer was only ok, I've seen better.

I expected the film to be funny and the music to be imaginative, but neither really made the grade. It's not nearly as funny as it could be, and if the DVD ever makes it to a 2nd pressing, you won't be missing much if you don't get the soundtrack. The extras are the DVD's saving grace.

Summary: Unbelievably boring
Review: I believe these other reviewers must be on some payroll, somewhere. Maybe 1% of this film was interesting. The rest was ->>excruciatingly<<- boring: slow, repetitive, weak, uninteresting, unsexy, inert, lifeless, unclever, empty, endless ... do not buy it!

Summary: You'll Laugh
Review: I don't know what movie all those other people that wrote reviews saw, but The First Nudie Musical is funny! I enjoyed all (and I mean ALL) the commentaries. The commentary on the documentary is especially funny (and I can honestly say I haven't ever heard a documentary-of-a-film commentary before!) Also, the soundtrack cd for the film which is included as a bonus is good.....I've been listening to it in my car all week. In other words, get this dvd....you won't be disappointed!

Summary: What fun!
Review: I saw this movie when I was a teenager...Had to use a fake ID to get into the theatere...Back then it seemed to be so funny and naughty. Now it's just a loot of fun to watch. Don't expect much in the way of a plot or sets, but just accept it for what it is...a lot of fun. The special soundtrack CD is lots of fun and the songs are really catchy....You'll be humming "Dancing Dildoes" to yourself without even noticing!

Summary: Moderately funny movie, TERRIBLE transfer
Review: I seriously doubt that Rebecca saw this DVD - this transfer is so far from "great" it's not funny. I got MY screener yesterday and found both image and sound to be BADLY flawed. The video and audio quality are a total mess. However, the DVD does include a nice roster of extras. I haven't had a chance to check out any of them yet, so I can't directly discuss them, but Image clearly put a lot of effort into that side of things. Too bad the picture and sound are so horrible...

Summary: You Should Own This One!
Review: I was delighted when I first heard THE FIRST NUDIE MUSICAL was being done on a DVD. I had a 3rd-rate VHS of the movie and eagerly awaited the DVD. I was not disappointed. This is a very funny movie with some of the best showtunes heard since the great shows of the 1940's and '50's.

It is amazing that this movie could be made for $150,000! It looks as good as most million dollar productions of the time.

Unless you are offended by nudity (the movie lives up to its title), I think you will be laughing and humming along from beginning to end.

The DVD is LOADED with extras! Two commentary tracks, a behind the scenes featurette, two deleted scenes (one a mucical number of a song Barbra Streisand should record), and more.

As an added bonus the DVD comes with a Soundtrack CD that has the music from the movie PLUS instrumental versions of the songs. This is an extraordinary bonus!

THE FIRST NUDIE MUSICAL is a cult favorite that deserves a wider audience. Add it to your collection. You'll be glad you did!
