Rating: Summary: Norm MacDonald kicks! Review: If you like Norm MacDonald and his work on SNL, you will love Dirty Work. It has tons of laughable jokes and many funny cameo appearences from Chris Farley, Gary Coleman, Adam Sandler, and John Goodman. It is about two friends who start a revenge for hire business. It is loaded with laughs, and Norm does a good job in his first starring role.
Rating: Summary: MacDonald is Hilarious!!! Review: Dirty work is by far one of the best movies I've seen. I especially like the fish/drug/shootout scene, I loved the change on their faces and couldn't stop laughing
Rating: Summary: A must-see for MacDonald fans...and really, everyone else Review: A disclaimer to all potential viewers of this movie: if you don't care for Norm MacDonald at all, then you might not enjoy this. If you have no opinion of his work, or think he's a comic genius, then this is a film definitely worth checking out. The plot revolves around two best friends starting up a lucrative revenge-for-hire business to raise money so that the father of one of the two guys can get a heart transplant. The film is better than most of the recent outings by Saturday Night Live stars (A Night at the Roxbury, Wayne's World 2, and Blues Brothers 2000 spring instantly to mind), primarily because the ho-hum scripting generally associated with such films has been beefed up by MacDonald's direct and exaggerated delivery. His comedy style is refreshing, but one gets the sense that his range may be limited to only this style of acting. New jokes as well as some well-placed cameos, make this movie great. The comedy is consistently hilarious the whole way through and several scenes will make you laugh until you fall off the couch. Also featured are Chevy Chase, Don Rickles, Artie Lange (formerly of Mad TV), Christopher McDonald (the villain from Happy Gilmore), and Traylor Howard (from Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place).
Rating: Summary: Enough jokes for an SNL skit, not a movie. Review: Though I still think Norm MacDonald was the funniest Weekend Update anchor Saturday Night Live ever had, he didn't put his best foot forward in this movie, where he opens up a revenge-for-hire business. One payback involves dead fish. Another one involves, guess what, dead fish. Yet another one seems absolutely creative in comparison, utilizing skunks. What originality! MacDonald's pal Sam (Artie Lange) gives such an awkward reading of his "serious" lines that I wonder if someone picked randomly off the street could have done better. Chris Farley appears in a few scenes, but isn't given much to do. Not even the bloopers that roll during the credits are funny. If you like Ernest movies but wish they had more raunchy humor, "Dirty Work" might be for you.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious, immature film for those who can take a joke Review: Dirty Work is a hilarious film. I went into it with a very negative 'Another movie with SNL cast members', but it is so funny I almost died laughing. If nothing else, you should go see it for the following reasons: 1)Arnold from Different Strokes, you know "What you talkin' bout Wilis?" is in it And 2) In the end a skunk rapes a chihuahua <not graphic>. Need I say more? If this doesn't amuse you, than you don't have the right kind of sense of humor for the film.
Rating: Summary: Funny, stupid, sick, and revolting to all mankind Review: "Dirty Work" is one of those revolting comed films you love to see. It costars Chevy Chase, Chris Farley, Christopher MacDonald, and John Goodman. The storyline: Revenge, whores, doctors, whores, and oh yeah whores. That's all it talks about is whores and it gets real old real fast. Though there are some amusing moments. But they are wide spread and few. If you are ready for sick comedy about sex, whores, and revenge. You should see this one-joke comedy.
Rating: Summary: Very funny, worth seeing! Review: I am usually very skeptical about films like these. Critics seem to despise comedies these days, but I thought that this film was extremely funny. Also, if you like this you should also check out "Half Baked", which has a similar tone and is just as funny.
Rating: Summary: Finally a movie that parents and children can enjoy together Review: This comedic masterpiece had a brief stint in theatres and was a favorite in many art house circles. The film presents Norm MacDonald in his greatest role since Frank in Billy Madison. Bob Saget wowed critics with his dazzling directorial debut managing to balance a film with both Chevy Chase and Don Rickles. Don't walk, run to purchase this perfection in VHS form. A must!
Rating: Summary: Just like Norm's standup...dry as a bone! Review: But sometimes you need some dry, stupid humor and DIRTY WORK provides that and then some. Everyone thinks about getting revenge on someone, but it's always the consequences that makes you think twice about it and the plot thrives on that. Mitch (Norm MacDonald) and Sam (Artie Lange) open up Dirty Work Inc., a Revenge For Hire business, in order to raise money for a heart transplant for Sam's dad Pops (Jack Warden). Christopher McDonald plays Travis Cole, the 'bad guy', and McDonald does a wonderful job in the role, as he has done with similar roles in movies like HAPPY GILMORE. The not well-known but always cute Traylor Howard does a nice job as well.Directed by Bob Saget, DIRTY WORK also features small but hilarious roles from comic legends like Chris Farley, Don Rickles and Chevy Chase. It didn't do very well at the box office, but it's a movie that it seems just about every comedy fan has seen and with good reason. It's a great comedy and fully recommended.
Rating: Summary: This is the same movie as Happy Gilmore Review: This movie is a retread of Happy Gilmore. You have Christopher McDonald once again playing the same jerk bad guy, this time Norm will use his powers of revenge, instead of hockey skills, to pay for the operation to save his dad, instead of getting the money to save grandma's house. You have a Traylor Howard playing the same part that Julie Bowen played in Gilmore. Same story arc, comeback at the end. Still very funny and worth watching though.
