Summary: I am a Fan of Jennifer Lopez since wedding planner... but...
Review: I rented this movie wanting to see it, and also being a fan of Jennifer Lopez, but I can honestly say, it couldnt keep my attention, and I actually STOPPED the movie halfway through, and watched something else.. and I have no desire to watch the rest.. I thought the plot was boring.. and I'm kinda sad that Jennifer Lopez played the lead in such a bad movie.. I'm sure if she wasn't in this movie it would have done a lot worse.
If your curious about this movie..
I recommend to rent it first before buying it..

Summary: This film needs ssome serious help.
Review: This film is not what was expected. Wait, I guess it should be expected that a singer gone actress film would have it's problems, but this film has some real problems! The plot is reminicent of Sleepless in Seattle where the kid is the one who makes the parent fall in love, and gets things going. It really is a cinderella film, one that has been made again and again since movies have been around because I know I've seen this film about 20 times before. The acting is OK, but I didn't see a good mesh between the characters. Everything seemed to happen "the way it should" in these chick flick sort of films. I just wouldn't waste my time watching it again, because it is unmoving and quite bland.

Summary: Pleasant modern Cinderella
Review: This is a good film, but it makes a misstep near the end that lingered with me after its otherwise satisfying conclusion. A well-used film device is the Walkout. The Walkout involves a situation wherein the hero has unjustly lost something important to him or her. At this time a supporting character gives a measure of comeuppance to those who have taken it away by sacrificing the same thing, just to make a point. When this happens in Maid in Manhattan, despite the spot-on performances by Lopez and the other actors involved, it doesn't work, because, though she's a likeable character and has earned our sympathies, she deserves what she got. The Walkout is unnecessary, and odder still, isn't rewarded later, though it would have been easy to.

Otherwise this is an enjoyable reworking of the Cinderella myth. Jennifer Lopez has the talent of looking convincing as a maid in one scene and a stunningly beautiful debutante in the next. Performances are good all around, including a great scene-stealer from the kid. And, for those of us who care about such things, the film even features unbiased treatment of a Republican politician -- a true rarity in a Hollywood production.

Summary: BLEH!
Review: Yuck! This movie is horrible. The plot is just so boring, and I think J. Lo should stick to singing and dancing (music videos). That's something she actually has a lot of talent in. She was good in The Wedding Planner, but she was not good in this movie. I think it would have been better if they had someone different play her part. DO NOT BUY THIS!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! If you really want to see it, go over to a friend's house and watch it with them if they own it, or go rent it and make someone else pay.

Summary: It should've been better
Review: After seeing The Wedding Planner, I thought for sure that JLo had what it took to make good romantic comedies. This movie proved me wrong. Was JLo believable as a hotel maid? Sure, why not. Was Ralph Fiennes believable as a politician? Yep. Were they believable as a couple? Not at all. There was absolutely no chemistry here, and chemistry is a fundamental piece of the romantic comedy pie. One of the other critical pieces, humor, was also in short supply. The previews led you to believe that the fellow maids in the hotel were the comic relief -- not so. They could have been dealt far more comedic lines than they had. The plot was whimsical but thin -- poor hotel maid works her butt off to get ahead, winds up trying on a guest's outfit at the prodding of her maid friend, gets spotted by politician in the outfit, she's forced to play the role, they fall in love but she believes the charade can't go on. Is this movie worth a rent? Maybe. If you're a die-hard JLo fan ... probably. Is it worth the purchase? No.

Summary: A great movie
Review: I would not say that this movie is one of the greatest movies around but i did enjoy it. It is a great movie for those of us that dream for something better or those of us that just want to watch a movie that would make you feel good afterwards.

Summary: A Sweet Movie
Review: This is a sweet movie with all of the predictablity that goes into a romance like this. Rich handsome man falls in love with a woman that he thinks is rich and beautiful but in fact she is just the maid. Of course there is more to this movie then the main plot. Ms. Lopez's character learns that she can do anything she sets her mind to and more. This movie is both about strength of character as well as a feel good romance. Despite the cookie cutter effort this was still a nice way to pass a hot summer evening. Not oscar worthy but still worth watching.

Summary: Jen is cute, but Ralph Fiennes?
Review: Jennifer Lopez stars in this predictable romantic film (certainly not a "comedy!") as a single Mom who leaves the mean streets to work as a maid in a classy New York hotel. Ralph Fiennes is horribly miscast as the Senatorial candidate who is staying at the hotel, mistakes her for a wealthy guest, and falls for her. Of course, Cinderella's ball gown turns back into a pumpkin, but true love prevails, and the two become a couple.

This is the first time I have seen Jennifer Lopez on screen, and I was delighted with her. She is comfortable in front of the camera, dazzlingly pretty, and generally does a very good job of playing the heart-of-gold maid who ends up in management.

Now, about Ralph Fiennes...who thought he would be a good romantic lead, especially in a light comedy? Fiennes has played too many psychotic villians too well (Schindler's List, Red Dragon) to be convincing here. He doesn't have traditional leading man good looks and looks weak and hesitant throughout.

The little boy who plays Lopez's gifted and sensitive son is a real winner! I hope we see more of him in the future.

Fans of JLo will enjoy her performance in "Maid in Manhattan," but others will find a predictable film without laughs.

Summary: If this movie was a recipe...
Review: it would look something like this:
- take your usual romantic comedy formula (if it worked before, why change anything, right?)
- add an actor who is completely out of his usual genre, to add a taste of 'quality' to the film.
- add an actress who can't act, but has an impressive behind (which can be used in jokes).
- try to blend in some social issue - again, to add 'quality' - like issueto the movie.
The result: 'Maid in Manhattean' - a boring, perdictable movie.

Summary: TOTALLY PREDICTABLE
Review: This movie was totally predictable. I do not like Jennifer Lopaz and she proved, in this movie, that she really can not act. It was a total wast of time. Although it is kind of romantic, you will find yourself guessing the next parts of the movie, and they turn out to be right. Dont wast your time or your money on this horrible movie.
