Summary: Modern Cinderella Story
Review: Jennifer Lopez is Marisa Ventura, a maid in a Manhattan hotel, and Ralph Fiennes is her prince charming, Senatorial candidate Christopher Marshall, in this modern version of the Cinderella fairy tale. When the upper-crusty Marshall mistakes Marisa, the hired help, for a guest of the hotel, he finds himself immediately attracted to her. Although Marisa shares those feelings, she feels she must prevent him from discovering her true identity. While Marisa is trying to evade him, Marshall is trying to track her down so that they may meet again. Aided by her coworkers, Marisa is able to have one night on the town with Marshall, complete with borrowed diamond jewelry and a regal ball gown, before she must abandon the charmed life for good. But that isn't the end of the story. This is a fairy tale, after all.Maid in Manhattan is the kind of movie that Jennifer Lopez makes specifically for her many young fans. It is a modern-day fairy tale. The story is contrived and improbable, but charming. She includes a message of empowerment and encouragement for those young fans: Don't let other people's expectations define you. The song "I'm Coming Out" by Diana Ross ridiculously materializes out of thin air for the characters to dance to on several occasions. Everyone lives happily ever after -except the bad guys. But this is a fairy tale, so I really can't fault the film those things. What impressed me the most about Maid in Manhattan is the casting. Jennifer Lopez is surrounded by heavy-duty thespians in what are essentially fluff roles: The incomparable Ralph Fiennes is handsome and charming in a role considerably less demanding than his usual fare. Stanley Tucci is quite convincingly abrasive as Chris Marshall's campaign manager. Natasha Richardson is the insufferably neurotic hotel guest for whom Marisa is mistaken. Bob Hoskins is a hotel butler sympathetic to Marisa's predicament. These accomplished actors take this opportunity that they don't have in more serious films to have fun with their characters. Particularly admirable are Stanley Tucci and Natasha Richardson, who play their characters over-the-top to great effect. Fans of Ralph Fiennes may be disappointed to see him in a role of so little depth. But he is the best looking and best mannered Senatorial candidate I have ever seen, so I can't say that I mind. Tyler Posey is also charming as Marisa's young son Ty. Maid in Manhattan is not a great movie. But it is fun, light and sweet. Jennifer Lopez and Ralph Fiennes are attractive and appealing in their leading roles. The supporting cast is terrific. I am sure that all those young girls who admire J. Lo's music so much will thoroughly enjoy this movie. And they are its intended audience. For everyone else, Maid in Manhattan is a pleasant enough distraction.

Review: This movie is actually a really good romantic comedy and shows that JLo can really act.THis is one movie thats for the guys and the girls. Its funny,entertaining,elegant,and JLo really shines with her beauty and this movie is really good. JLo really rocks in this film and I recommend it to everyone.

Review: If you are looking for a light hearted romantic movie, then this is a good pick. I liked the chemistry between Jennifer Lopez and Ralph Fiennes. Never realized how sexy he was until now. I always rent before I buy. This is one I definitely plan to add to my collection.

Summary: So what if it's familiar...
Review: Yes, this movie does present the familiar Cinderella story. But who doesn't like a good Cinderella story? I thought it was well acted, and unlike some of the other comments in this forum, enjoyed Jennifer Lopez' performance. With all the bad things happening in the world, I personally like to come home to a nice, feel-good kinda movie that brightens my day. So expect to see something a little familiar, live with it, enjoy it, and be happy!

Summary: No extras? Please. I sense a second release...
Review: This is just a theory... but I predict that this movie will be released AGAIN in a few months -- that time, with extras. Yes, this is a nice, cute love story and worthy of owning if you watch chick flicks many times. BUT... There is absolutely NOTHING extra on this DVD.
More and more the studios try to get us to fork over our money twice... first by the original DVD release... then months later with a "Collectors Edition". I guess we are supposed to love the movie enough to buy it twice. That ain't happ'nin. As I said, this is a cute chick-flick I would watch over and over... but I am going to wait for the extras that I bet are coming.

Review: J-Lo...ah, the type of actress (and singer) who makes you yearn for silent films. To think, they could have taken the money they spent making this turkey and fed some people. ("jenny from the block"..yeah right!.as an ex-Bronxite myself, give me a break!)

Summary: A Really Good JLO Romantic Comedy
Review: This was actually a really good movie I actually thought it was going to be just a real chick flick it was actually really good and funny.This is really good and I think as good as The Wedding Planner and a little better. These films both opened at #1 for JLo so she has a presense with these romantic comedies and does a good job at them. So I recommend to my doggs eben this is a really good movie and u get to the hottest chick on this planet miss JLo.

Summary: It's an okay movie, not bad, but not great at all either.
Review: Cliched movie only held together by the great performer of JLo. Watchable but not as fun as what we got as watching the "Pretty Woman". The whole story is so cliched and mediocre but we still finished it and the feeling is 100 times better than watching that horrible "My Big Fat Greek Wedding".

Review: The acting is bad, very bad. The story is so dumb it makes my brain bleed. Sure, JLo has a big booty but does that mean she can act? I tolerated her wooden performance in The Cell, due to the special effects and the presence of real actors in the film; but she keeps making these horrible flicks! Let me put it this way: I'd rather watch Mariah Carey's "Glitter" than sit through this horrible JLo commercial again.
