Rating: Summary: Funny Film! Review: I tend to like Albert Brooks and understand his unique world view. This is a very good role for him. Debbie Reynolds is great too!
I would highly recommend this one. It's full of a lot of belly laughs, deep belly laughs!!
Rating: Summary: You DON'T have to be over 40 to enjoy this movie Review: I think the realistic, yet funny, mother/child relationship has a lot to do with why this is such a pleasant movie to watch. Someone commented that this movie will probably not be enjoyable to those under 40 years of age, but I would have to disagree with that. I'm 19 now and was even younger when I first saw this movie, yet I still think it's one of the most enjoyable movies I've seen. Everyone has different taste when it comes to movies, but I think everyone should watch this movie at least once. It will bring back memories, and I'm sure you will enjoy it regardless of your age.
Rating: Summary: Mother Review: I thought it was very funny and very touching. One of the best movies I have seen in a long time.
Rating: Summary: ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS! BROOKS AND REYNOLDS ARE GREAT! Review: I thought this film was so funny. I couldnt stop laughing the whole way through. I am one of Debbie Reynolds largest fans and she was just marvelous in this.
Rating: Summary: irritatingly hillarious Review: I usually don't like bickering, which is what alot of the dialogue is. However, the relationship between mother and son is right on the mark. The first time I saw the kitchen conversation, I had to pause the tape just to catch my breath. I laughed so hard. Remember driving around the parking lot, looking for "the" perfect space with your mom? Debbie is lovable as always.
Rating: Summary: oh, yes! they got this one right. Review: if, by chance, you have ever lived with your mother during a middle age divorce, this is a movie you two can watch together and chuckle at. it is not a good date movie, however. just remember: albert brooks is the brother of the guy on letterman who shoots himself out of cannons and stuff.
Rating: Summary: "Mother" is not only hilarious, but true-to-life Review: It's a shame that in 1996 the Academy overlooked nominating and giving Debbie Reynolds the Oscar for "Best Actress" for this hilarious comedy. I saw it at the theater with my mother stting next to me, and Debbie's portrayal was so perfect, I felt that she and my mom were twins. Albert Brooks is good too, in all capacities--acting, directing, and especially writing. You will laugh and smile and nod with recognition during many scenes. A worthwhile addition to any collection.
Rating: Summary: Cuts close to home Review: The first time I met Debbie Reynolds I was with my mom....this movie had just come out. As Debbie graciously posed for a couple of photos she asked my mom if she had seen the film...my mom said "no, I haven't". Debbie asked me why I hadn't taken my mom to see it...I told her that it cut too close to home. It would for me to be comfortable sitting laughing at what is essentially a version of my own mom on screen.
The way Debbie delivers lines like " I am not going to spend ten dollars on B...s..t jam! Just slays me.
Albert Brooks and Debbie Reynolds on the phone....She says "I love you son"...he says "I know you think you do".
very very clever stuff.
Rating: Summary: Mommy Problems Review: This Albert Brooks film is an interesting little movie. Once you think you get a funny comedy, it turns and has some serious and dramatic moments. It's an intriguing movie. Brooks stars as a science fiction writer who moves back in with his mom, played superbly by Debbie Reynolds, to help him understand his problem with women. What happens is an interesting premise where mom and son reveal secrets and feelings. Sometimes funny, okay, hysterically funny, and often tender and serious, this is one great achievement for Albert Brooks, who also wrote the film. It's also a great moment for Debbie Reynolds. This is the greatest thing to of happened in her career. Rob Morrow o-stars as the younger brother who can't seem to grip the whole odd situation. Lisa Kudrow has a very brief role as a bad date Albert goes on. This is one incredibly crafted movie with a great, intelligently written script. Check this out.
Rating: Summary: The funniest movie I ever saw! Review: This has got to be the funniest movie I ever saw! Albert Brooks is pure genious. Whenever I am feeling down, I watch this hilarious movie and I am immediately refreshed. It's a definite must see for anyone who has ever had a mother!
