Summary: The positive reviews of this film are FUNNY!
Review: I rented the movie. Watched the first thirty minutes of it. Pushed eject. Place the disc back into its case to be returned to the video store on Monday. Came to my desk and sat down. Signed on with the intention of writing a review about the movie. Got sidetracked and decided to read some of the reviews of Dumb and Dumberer first...and it wasn't until I started reading the 4 and 5 star reviews of this film that I got my first good laugh. Those who think this movie is funny must have been on something when they watched it. There is absolutely nothing funny about this film. Nothing.

Summary: PAINFULLY AWFUL (I second that)
Review: I have been wanting to check out this film since it came out on video so this evening I stopped at the local video store and rented it. What a mistake that was! I got through about 30 minutes of this over-the-top super moronic, extremely stupid, very unfunny piece of crap film before I decided that I had suffered enough. This has got to be one of the worst comedies EVER. This definitely ain't no Dumb and Dumber.

Ditto to the reviewer who said that this film was painfully awful because that it is.

Don't buy it, rent it or watch it. You will be wasting your time and money like we did!

Summary: What a Let Down!!!!
Review: It was amost insulting, They thought that this movie would be a hit because it stared Harry and Loyed. they must have thought that the viewing public was too dumb to care about the script/story line.
This Movie has nothing on the first Dumb and Dumber movie. The jokes are lousy/poorly timed and so is the story. The story is about Harry and Loyed's first time at high school. The principle sets up a special needs class to get extra funding, he wants to use this funding for a holiday for himself and the lunch lady/special needs class teacher. He finds that the Harry and Loyed are just the students they need in their special needs class to get the funding. To prove that this is an legitimate class, they take the special class on field trips and get them doing other class activities. The school's plan come unstuck when a regular (female) student, who is currently doing a report on 4-colour pens, decides that she would investigate this new suspicious class. This female student becomes Harry's love intrest.

It is a very weak story line with not much substance. it seems like in the bonus material, they say that their main concern with this movie was getting the casting right (they did do a good job of this) but the story line/script must have come in a distant 2nd. So in conclusion the jokes/gags are cheap, the story line is weak, this was a waiste of 88 minutes.

Summary: Desperate try for cheap laughs
Review: Dumb and Dumberer: Comedy. Starring Eric Christian Olsen and Derek Richardson. Directed by Troy Miller. (PG-13. 88 minutes.)

"Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd" sounded like a bad idea, and the movie removes all doubt. Inspired by the very funny 1994 hit "Dumb and Dumber, " the film contains nothing that made the original a success -- namely its stars, Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey, and the filmmakers, the Farrelly brothers. But it does give us the back story on how Harry met Lloyd because, well, everybody's interested, right?

To call this effort misguided would be kind. The job this "prequel" does on the original "Dumb and Dumber" is the movie equivalent of surgery that removes all the vital organs and then gives the patient a prosthetic third arm. What's needed isn't there, and what's here we don't need.

Even the the title is off. "Dumb and Dumberer" is hard to say and not exactly funny, while the subtitle is intended (for some reason) to evoke "When Harry Met Sally," but it sounds more like a tribute to the silent comedian Harold Lloyd. Why not "When Buster Met Keaton?" or "When Charlie Met Chaplin?"

The movie leaves two young actors twisting in the wind, imitating people funnier than themselves, while working off a script that Carrey and Daniels couldn't have squeezed laughs from. Two young idiots, who will some day blossom into glorious imbecility, meet on the way to high school when they collide into each other on the street. Lloyd (Eric Christian Olsen in the Carrey role) takes Harry (Derek Richardson in the Daniels role) under his wing and shows him the ropes at school. Within minutes, the class bully has hung both of them from the top of the school's flagpole. The bit is no funnier to watch than it is to read about.

In moving the Carrey and Daniels character into adolescence, "Dumb and Dumberer" keeps Lloyd's personality intact but loses the weariness that Daniels brought to the role of Harry -- the weariness, that is, of going through life, year after year, without a clue. It's what made Daniels funnier than Carrey in the original, but in the new film that aspect of Harry's personality is gone, and Richardson is left to play him as a wide-eyed innocent. For those keeping score, Lloyd was dumber in the first movie, while this time Harry is dumberer.

Eugene Levy plays the embezzling high school principal, who is given plot- pushing lines such as "I think I figured out how to bilk this school out of enough money for that condo in Waikiki." Levy's scenes with his partner crime, the school lunch lady (Cheri Oteri), have comic energy, enough so that were the sound off one might suspect that fun stuff is happening, but it's not. It's just Levy and Oteri holding up their end, making sure they're not the worst thing in the picture.

It's hard to say what's the worst thing -- Olsen and Richardson, perhaps, in a dead heat -- but they're also the movie's biggest victims. Richardson at least gets to be bland. Olsen has the misery of imitating Carrey's physical shtick, the walk, the talk, the goofy takes. And while anyone can be funny imitating Jerry Lewis, there's nothing less funny in the entire world than someone imitating Carrey. It's even worse than someone imitating Steve Martin singing "King Tut," which, happily, no one does anymore, though the nightmares will never fade.

At less than 90 minutes, "Dumb and Dumberer" still feels stretched, with back-to-back musical interludes, halfway in, that seem like a desperate attempt to string things out. In one musical moment, Lloyd dances to Vanilla Ice's 1990 hit, "Ice, Ice Baby," even though the movie is set in 1986. That's how dumb he is, dancing to music that hasn't even been recorded yet. .

Summary: APTLY NAMED, GIVEN ITS CRAPSHOOT SCHTICK
Review: Kudos to the lanky Olsen for rising to the daunting task of mirroring Jim Carrey - he does it with such conviction that I almost overlooked the tragic lack of logic in the film's schemes or the frequent dry spells in humor. It's the best Jim Carrey impersonation I have ever seen! But it's the script around him, the premise, and the film (in every way, down to the costuming) that makes a mess of his Jim Clone 101 act. While there may be a handful of minute comical moments that salvage D&D-er from the scrap heap, it is ultimately nothing more than a scorching bore. Perhaps folks between the ages of 10 to 15 may find this a tolerable rental.

Summary: Dumb & Dumberererer
Review: Dumb & Dumber was a classic movie, quite possibly the funniest movie I've ever seen. Therefore, it was going to be impossible for this prequel to be anywhere near as funny as the original, especially without Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels. And it isn't. However, that doesn't mean that Dumb & Dumberer isn't funny. I laughed several times during the movie. Eric Christian Olsen does an amazing job imitating Jim Carrey as Lloyd. Derek Richardson is mearly adequate as Harry. Nonetheless, while this prequel is nowhere near as good as the original, it's still a good way to kill a couple hours.

Summary: If you have a dumb sense of humor - WATCH IT!
Review: This is no Dumb and Dumber...however, the young actors did a great job at making me laugh. One of my best friends can't go a month without watching the original, so when she asked me if she would like Dumb and Dumberer, i wasn't sure how to respond. I told her it was not as funny as the first one, but if she went into the movie with that attitude, she would love it. And she did. She bought it the first week it came out. That is how I will describe this movie: Don't expect Dumb and Dumber, just expect some dumb humor...and you will be satisfied!

Summary: Just Plain Dumb!
Review: This was by far the dumbest movie I have ever seen. I have to agree with one reviewer that you have to be on some serious drugs to actually enjoy sitting through this movie for even the first 30 minutes. I was willing to give this movie a chance since it was not well recieved in the theaters. This is one of those rare occasions in which the majority was right. I don't blame Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels for not signing onto to this movie. They must've read the script and said forget it. The script was simply horrible the characters too stupid and incompotent to be believed. It got to a point where it just became annoying.

Summary: It's no Dumb and Dumber, but still pretty darn good!
Review: Ok, I am a big fan of Dumb and Dumber. But when I saw this movie I thought it would be crap without Jim Carrey. It's not. Although When Harry met Lloyd doesn't have the original actors, it is still a great movie filled with dumb/retardted humor. Harry and Lloyd are twice as dumb as before and that leads to great a comedy. If you can get this movie for $20 instead of $26, I recommend buying it.
