Summary: Extreme close up!
Review: Wayne Campbell (Mike Myers) and Garth Algar (Dana Carvey) have a television show on a public access station that they film in thier basement. A producer (Rob Lowe) buys the show and puts it on his network. But little do Wayne and Garth know that he plans to exploit the show and takes Wayne's girlfriend Casandra (Tia Carrere).

This is the best SNL movie ever and is filled with lots of memorable lines and scenes. This was filmed on a small budget but was a major sucess. There are plenty of famous people in small roles like Chris Farley, Laura Flynn Boyle, Alice Cooper and Ed O'neil to name a few.

The DVD is presented in widescreen and in DD 5.1 surround. It also contains a featurete filled with interviews and clips from the movie and the theatrical trailer.

Summary: Funny Movie!
Review: I'm a really big SNL fan, I have been watching ever since SNL first aired on TV when I was 10 years old. Wayne's World is one of the best movies started from an SNL comedy routine and Mike Myers and Dan Carvey are very funny as Wayne and Garth. There are a lot of funny cameos in this movie including Ed O'Neill (Married with Children) as the manager of the donut shop. Also pretty good in this movie are Tia Carrere as Cassandra and Lara Flynn Boyle as Wayne's accident prone obsessive ex-girlfriend Stacey. Highly recommended to fans of SNL, Mike Myers, and Dana Carvey! I had this movie on video and will probably get the DVD.

Summary: Party Time, Excellent!
Review: I love this movie. It is the best comedy/rock 'n' roll combunation ever. School of Rock is right up there too. No one could play Wayne and Garth better that Myers and Carvey. Waynes World is very funny all the way through and I highly recommend it to anyone with a sense of humor.

Summary: Leonard Maltin doesn't get it.
Review: Given the spotty record of Saturday-Night-Live-skits-made-into-movies, "Wayne's World" (along with the "Blues Brothers") stand as noteworthy exceptions.

I am probably in the minority opinion, but I think Wayne Campbell is, by far, Mike Meyer's funniest and most entertaining character, much more so than Austin Powers. Add Dana Carvey's schwingatude as Garth, and you have a mix of slapstick, 1-liners, farce, satire, and out and out hilarity that has few peers.

The reason why Wayne's world works, is twofold. First, Wayne and Garth's characters are better developed than most, and have more than a single facet. The other side of the coin is that other great characters, actually characatures, surround our heroes. Rob Lowe's intentionally-overdone producer role is a good fit for the overall attitude of the film, ditto for Ed "Al Bundy" O'Neill as the I'd-rather-be-somewhere-else manager of Wayne's favorite hangout. The list goes on...even the celebrity guests, like Alice Cooper, get in on the act. Unlike some of the SNL-based films, which seem to cut-and-paste characters and try to make them fit into a story, character, supporting cast and story (at least what there is of one), intertwine seamlessly and form a comprehensive and, more importantly, cohesive, package.

The gags are really clever and well-executed, and as stated, a healthy mix of 1-liners, farce, and satire. While occasionally lowbrow, they aren't as nearly repetitive and randy as those in Austin Powers. This results in a film with a LOT of qoutable dialogue.

It is unfortunate that this movie hasn't been released on DVD. Maybe Paramount will come to their senses and do so.

As far as Leonard Maltin and other critics who didn't get this movie? "Assphinctersezwhut?"

Review: To put shortly this movie is much better than any of the Austin Powers movies. It's comic genius man, and its excellent. In this one part Garth and Wayne are all like playing hockey in a street right, and these cars like keep coming around right, so they have to keep moving their net off the street. Then this ex-girlfriend of Wayne's is like riding on a bike distracted by Wayne and hits a parked car. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. That part was so funny and I shook the house and flew through a window but got back up and gave a thumbs up because I was still feeling good because I was watching a great movie. Rob Lowe is all evil, because he wants Wayne's girlfriend right, and Wayne wants to keep her but Rob Lowe is really cunning. Garth is a real big nerd and has a problem asking out women, because well he is a nerd. Then Foxy Lady starts playing in this Garth dream sequence and Garth starts dancing and HAHAHAHA its to funny to go any further but I'll keep trying. Garth starts dancing all nerdy and stuff and doing devil horns and swaying around like he's a cool dude, even though he's not.

This movie is better than the Austin Powers' series for one reason alone, witty pop culture references. Whether Terminator 2 or Scooby Doo they show genuine knowledge and understanding in the flaws of other movies. Whether it be the 'Oscar clip' sequence or the 'gratuitous sex scene' sequence. In short see this movie.
