Summary: My Big, Fat Disappointment
Review: While the movie had it's moments, overall, it stunk. If you are into the whole Girl get Boy thing, it'll work for you. However, the comedy is mediocre-at best. And the publicity made MUCH more than the movie was worth! Save your BIG, FAT BUCKS!

Summary: Funniest movie I ever saw!
Review: "My Big Fat Greek Wedding", has to be one of the funniest movies, I have ever seen. Even though I am not Greek, I could relate to Tula's over bearing family. They were totally funny, and old fashion, and sweet. I don't know if I could have put up with them like she did though. I Nia Vardalos was charming in the lead. I am so glad they picked her to play the part. The rest of the cast was irresitable. This movie was funny from the very beggining to the very end! I hope that the television show will be as fantastic.

Summary: Very Enjoyable....
Review: This is not the type of movie I usually intentionally watch. My Sweetheart rented it for an "evening at home". I found it very entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable. This movie could have very easily gone over the top on the ethnic jokes and tiresome, stupid, situations that seem to be the backbone of this genre. It doesn't. Although it uses a Greek family as its basis, anyone from a large family of any type, can relate easily to the story.
The cast is perfect, believing they are a real family is the easiest part of the whole film. We have since puchased a copy of this on dvd and added it to our collection of "will watch again". I think I will carry it to our next "family reunion" and see how many of the characters fit into my family. This is not a "chic flic", nor a condemnation of traditional family values. I don't think the writer was trying to make any political statement at all. I highly reccommend this film to anyone who wants to watch a very good movie and come away feeling good.

Summary: MediaGab Review
Review: Nia Vardalos stars in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" as a young Greek woman who falls in love with a non-Greek man and struggles to get her family to accept him while she comes to terms with her heritage and cultural identity. A romantic comedy which fails to really get any momentum. The movie started really slowly. I was constantly waiting for the movie to bust out into a rage of comedy but it never panned out that way.

The movie did have some funny moments. Of course without these bits of comedy I don't think I would have lasted through the entire 96 minutes. I don't fault the acting as it was superb. I can see why everyone is into Nia Vardalos. But the fault for the movie lies with the director and the producers. I feel that they could of made the movie move along a little better and keep my interest in it longer.

Summary: Great Romantic Comedy
Review: After all the hype surrounding this movie I knew I had to see it, but I wasn't sure if it would live up to my own expectations. However it did, and I really enjoyed this movie. Nia Vardalos plays Toula, who at first is a frumpy woman you wouldn't expect anyone to take a second look at. Helping run her families restaurant. In comes Ian (played by John Corbett), a man she is instantly attracted to. Toula longs to go back to college, and she makes her dreams of something more come true, and goes to college to learn about computers, and decides to work in a travel agency. She falls for Ian almost instantly, but is worried what her Greek family will think, since she is supposed to marry Greek, and continue the tradition. Her family is loud and outrageous, and an overall joy to watch. With a little resistance from the father, they eventually marry and its a fairytale ending. This is a very humorous film that is very romantic, and overall was very entertaining. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly reccomend it if you are a fan of this genre. It's definately a movie you will want to watch again and again.

Summary: One big fat great evening
Review: I heard about the movie last summer and loved it when I saw it. Nothing but fun looking at life in a real world. No my family is not quite like this one but I would would marry the brother any day just to be part of it.
I loved sharing my enthusiasm for the movie with friends and I have not met anyone who did not enjoy it. Ok it did not have any one killed in it, no one was blown up, I didn't see any blood and in the end but I did enjoy laughing. If you can't laugh at this movie you can't enjoy life.

Summary: An nice little movie but too cute for my taste
Review: It's easy to see why My Big Fat Greek Wedding has struck such a chord with movie goers. It's about an underdog who perseveres despite the obstacles that she has to overcome, most of which are placed squarely in front of her by her family. Much of it is sweet and well meaning, much of it is also broad cultural stereotypes. Not offensive per se, but stereotypical to be sure. This movie is a bit like Cinderella on Ouzo. A formula story, a happy ending and a bit of a hangover afterwards

Summary: My Big Fat Greek Wedding is big, fat funny!
Review: I loved this movie more than any I've seen in a long time. I could not stop laughing, and I will be watching it over and over. I love the Greeks! They know how to live and have a great time.

Summary: A little disappointing...
Review: after all the hype! It was just not that funny. I may have laughed 3 times, maybe!! The movie is very predictable, kinda corny and lacks real romance between the characters. Her family was a hoot, but just not enough to take me over the top.

Summary: My BIG FAT GREEK Wedding!
Review: When I figured out that "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" was not going to be at the movie theatre near my house, I was quite enraged. I've never been a real "stickler" for movies such as this, because I'm usually one that only enjoys horror movies or action flicks, but for some reason this movie seemed to catch my eye. So when it came out to rent, I marched my happy self up to the movie rentals and got myself a copy.

Did I watch it the first night I rented it? No. Did I watch it the second day I rented it? Yes; however, I probably would have put off watching it even longer if it wouldn't have been due that day at 3 P.M. When I got up that morning, I reluctantly put the movie in and sat down to watch it, almost wishing I hadn't rented it. I thought the movie was going to drag on, because the opening of it seemed as though it may be a little "corny" or "flakey." Against my will, I sat there for a few more minutes.

If I would have given up at the beginning, I would never have watched the entire thing. I had thought that within the first thirty-seconds (honestly) that it would be a stupid movie, but against my thoughts, I actually enjoyed the movie and watched the movie yet another time before I returned it to the store that day. That night, I went to the closest store that sold movies and picked myself up a copy.

Don't assume that since some of the actors/actresses in the movie aren't exactly "big," or because a member of *NSync is in it that it is going to be a horrid movie, because you may be surprised at what you get from "My BIG FAT GREEK Wedding!"
