Summary: Good premise, good execution
Review: Ramis compassionately and skillfully mounts this culture-clash. In my opinion, Joe Viterelli steals the show. The wise guys in this movie are all just too precious! Almost all the gags (ranging from one-liners to long-range developed joks) are quoteable/memorable. The only thing I didn't like about the movie was Lisa Kudrow simply because she always plays the same irritating role.

The only reason I don't give this movie 5 stars is because it doesn't "move" me as I believe a 5-star movie should. It is good solid rousing entertainment and stands up to multiple viewings. The DVD extras include options to overlay the movie with either actors' or director's commentaries, which are totally fun to listen to. I rented this but will end up buying it because it is such fun entertainment.

Review: It starts out like any mob boss film, then it's like Pual Vedie's (DeNaro) life just changes.DeNaro plays a mob boss who has stress and Crystal has to cure him.Crystal plays the down to Earth shrink.DeNaro convencies him to be his shrink and Crystals life justs starts to close in on him.At the end DaNaro winds up in prison like almost all bosses do.Ask anyone that has seen it, they'll say it was a good movie.

Summary: Good mindless entertainment
Review: The movie is pretty funny. Robert De Niro demonstrates his suberb acting ability and Billy Crystal makes a reasonable attempt to meet the standard set by De Niro. Lisa Kudrow on the other hand appears to be far from versatile in her potential roles as she essentially acts just like Phoebe from Friends (complete with silly gestures).

The DVD special features are the trailer (almost a pretty standard feature on DVD nowadays) and the outtakes reel. I didn't consider the outtakes to be that great.

Overall though, it's pretty fun and I'd give the movie 7/10.

Summary: After analyzing it.......
Review: .....I found that this movie wasn't to funny. I have no idea what they were trying to do in this movie, but it is definitely NOT one of my DeNiro favorites, as a matter of fact, it's nowhere near the top. It's worth renting, but not worth buying.

Summary: You Won't Find A Lot Of Laughs Here
Review: The movie was watchable (rent from Blockbuster or another video rental store). Don't waste your money buying the DVD, although the "out-takes" portion of it was worth more laughs than the movie. Which isn't saying much.

Summary: Flat Ending
Review: Funny bits and performances, but ultimately unsatisfying. The problem, I believe, is with the film's flat climax -- it just wasn't all that funny, or thrilling, or dramatic. Too bad. Crystal and De Niro give their usual excellent performances. Lisa Kudrow, however, steps right out of some sitcom with an annoying, winey wife-to-be performance in a throwaway subplot. The FBI subplot was one big cliche. The colors on the DVD seem over-saturated (I had to turn the color way down on my TV), and the night/dark-room shots had too much contrast. Still, it's worth a rental just to watch Crystal and De Niro!

Summary: Lisa Kudrow was brilliant in this film
Review: This message goes out directly to the person from Tampa, FL who said that Lisa Kudrow "will always be Phoebe" and that every part she ever plays is an "extension of Phoebe" has no idea what she is talking about! Before making such an opinion, perhaps this person should rent "The Opposite of Sex." Lisa Kudrow was brilliant in that, and that jaded, cynical woman wasn't a bit like Phoebe. True, Michelle from "Romy and Michelle" was also a ditzy blonde, but even she was different than Phoebe. The thing that people always miss about Phoebe's character is that she is not stupid in the least. She just has a different way of thinking and is very literal-minded and naive. Michelle, on the other hand, is just plain stupid. Note, Phoebe always understands things. Joey is the dumb one. And to return to her role in this film, it couldn't be any farther from Phoebe: She is a professional career woman in this film. She also is not quirky or "different" like Phoebe. In fact, her part is way too small in this film, but the parts that she is in, she shines. The only similarity to Phoebe is her voice Lisa Kudrow is a brilliant actress who can make even one-syllable words seem funny and poignant. Just listen to her say "OH!" and you'll know what I mean. Her comic timing is impeccable and her reactions are amazing. Probably the funniest part in the movie is when DeNiro, the gangster Paul Vidi, is offering her a wedding present. She says she cannot accept. he says, "sure you can" and immediately she says "Thank you". The vocal intonation and the way she says "Thank you" is the funniest gem in this entire film. Crystal and DeNiro's performances would give this film four stars, but it is Lisa Kudrow's highly underrated, smaller performance that gives this movie five.
