Summary: Getting that "gay thing" straight
Review: 17 year old Megan (Natasha Lyonne) comes home from school to a surprise; an intervention, whereby, she gets shipped off to a rehab used to turn gay teens straight. Her and eight other campers venture into the undesired world of heterosexuality, but on her "path to righteousness" Megan falls in love with fellow female camper, Graham {Clea DuVall). "Cheerleader" is a charming movie for those who can see the foolishness of ignorance. The film provides everything wonderful about storytelling: passion, humor, anger, love, and a means for anyone to find their 'true direction'. Definitely a movie worth owning.

Summary: A beautiful comedy & a beautiful love story
Review: A great slapstick movie poking fun at straight people. This a beautiful love story and a wonderful comedy about 2 ladies sent to a gay rehabilitation camp trying to cure the "evil" gay lifestyle.In the proccess of being rehabilitated
love is found. This feature not only the love between two women but also between the gentlemen. Not to mention the pycho camp leader who has a closet case son. This is a wonderfully funny movie to come out and watch with your love one.

Summary: Good, quirky fun
Review: A lovely original little movie with lots of charm, that manages to expertly take the piss, while also having serious thought-provoking dramatic moments.

Its only fault lies in the fact that it overreaches its self too much at times.

In spite of this (or perhaps due to it?) it's a quirky comedy/drama ideal for gay or straight viewing!

Clea DuVall and Natasha Lyonne are excellent.

Summary: Entertaining but fell short
Review: But I'm a Cheerleader, was entertaining however it had a low buget feel and fell short of it's comedic ability. The story had a lot going for it and the talent was there to be had. Ritchard Mull, who played Bull in the T.V. sitcom Night court, plays a militant gay who is trying to undo the damage this True Directions facility is doing. Clea DuVall did a great job as a angry lesbian and the rest of the cast did a good job. I noticed many chances to get a comic jab but they passed without a laugh. I feel this is good enough to add to a Gay themed collection but not a top ten pick. I had high hopes but felt a bit let down. Rent it if you can and make your own call if you want to buy or buy a used copy.

Review: But I'm a Cheerleader~ Jamie Babbit is a very good movie about a female cheerleaders whom is a lesbian. Usually I hate these kind of movies since they are very preachy, serious over acting and other political statesments. I did not take it all that seriously and that made the movie much better. It is a great comedy that happens that have a lesbians and gays in it. The plot centers around Megan Bloomfield whom is a cheerleader whom is not like all the other girls. She has pinups in her locker and when she kisses her "boyfriend" she starts to think about her fellow cheerleaders. I find it to be an awesome and funny movie that never takes itself too seriously and that is a good thing in this case. This is a very good flick...

Summary: Pretty good
Review: I am a fan of this movie, however the general lack of character development gets to me. They rely too much on stereotypes to make the personality of most of the characters, and the few characters that aren't stereotypical have very little personality.

The movie is enjoyable otherwise, despite the lack of personality. It does represent, to some extent, what GLBT teens have to go through. I'd reccomend it, but if you're in the mood for something that will leave you amazed, find something else.

Summary: You Don't Have to Be "GAY" To Love This Movie
Review: I am about as straight as straight could be, and mind you, I have absolutely "nothing" against anyone's sexual preferences. Otherwise, I don't think I would have even watched this movie, let alone give it 5 stars. Matter of fact I live in the next town over form the Lesbian Capitol of Massachusetts, and they're some of the BEST people you'd EVER want to know.I agree with the other reviewer on here who says you do NOT have to be Gay to enjoy this movie. It's just a really feel-good type of flick, about a young school-aged Cheerleader coming to grips with her sexuality.I caught it one night on IFC, (Independent Film Channel) on Satellite TV with my wife, as we were flicking through the channels, and we both absolutely loved it. It's funny as hell. The humor is dry & witty. We even have Richard Moll, (Bull, from Night Court) playing one half of a gay couple, and he has HAIR, by God. Although that's been known now for awhile. We even have Ru Paul OUT, (literally) of DRAG, in this flick.I would compare this movie closely to like a John Waters flick, (Think Hairspray, Polyester Gen), in terms of humor. If you like this kind of humor, as much as I do, then I think you'll really enjoy this film?We missed about the first 15min. of this on IFC, but we finally tracked down the OOP release of this, brand-new, and sealed for $10. Can't beat that price for this great movie.Even Roger Ebert's comments are on the cover of this movie. "A Very Funny Movie"- Roger Ebert, Roger Ebert & The Movies. Of course I didn't know this was on the cover until I bought it, but if you trust Roger Eberts reviews like I do, then go for it, and get this flick. You won't be disappointed.

Summary: Eh: Kind of corny, but opened my mind
Review: I first saw this movie a year ago, and, well, I had to rent it again. No mean feat let me tell you with no Blockbuster Card and two fairly homophobic parents. However, I still like it, and once I can buy movies without them knowing, this one will be on my shelf.
Complaints: There are a few. The plot is cheesy, the music is horribly cliche, and the characters are so incredibly stereotypical it's almost embarassing.
Praises: Proof for questioning people (like myself) that despite what parents may think, being gay is not wrong. Plus, it stars Clea Duvall!
This movie needs to be taken with a grain of salt. It is very corny, but then again, its basically a gay chic-flick. If you want a laugh, especially if you're a lesbian, then I suggest it.
