Summary: Loved it!!!
Review: I went into this movie not knowing *anything* about it. I don't even think I knew Jim Carrey was in it. I came out of it amazed! Awesome movie that I ended up seeing twice in the theater. It's not a heart-pounding, keep you glued to your seat type of movie, but more of a modern classic. Don't take my word for it though, check it out for yourself.

Summary: Jim Carrey's Best since The Truman Show!!
Review: It was my birthday when I decided I wanted to watch this movie in the theater. This was Jim Carrey's best movie since The Truman Show. I couldn't believe it! Jim Carrey only acted silly at parts where he was drunk. Other than that, he took on a very serious role and stunned me. I loved this film and you would too. Gosh I thought The truman Show was the best serious role Jim Carrey was in. The Majestic completes it. Thought the end was rather cheesy it was a good movie and I recommend it to anyone who would want a touching, shocking, and lovable film. Jim Carrey isn't only serious in this film, he's fantastic. Buy this movie for what it's worth. I recommend it!

Review: It was interesting to see my first ten hour movie, and...oh, I'm just reading the info here that says it's actually a 2 1/2 movie. It only seemed like ten hours!!!!!

Summary: A wonderful surprise!
Review: Let me start by saying I'm not a fan of the madcap Jim Carrey. I watched this movie only because the free oscar screener came my way, and sat for the first few minutes with my finger on the "Stop" button, ready to press it the second he pulled a face.

I was in for a massive surprise! I absolutely loved it! It's gentle love story and the wonderful small-town characters (who couldn't adore Martin Landau?) were a movie in themselves, but the breath-taking Hollywood communist witch-hunt added an amazing dimension to an already enthralling tale.

It's a movie which makes you think - so recently, this staggering event took place. For once, it's the small guy whose side you are on as he battles through this shady and forgotten piece of recent US history. Throw in a passable non-face-pulling performance from Jim Carrey and the gentle characters he ends up with, and there's a movie I recommend to anyone, without hesitation!

Summary: feel good capra-esque movie
Review: First of all i have to say i really liked this film. it was a very enjoyable movie with decent acting. i gave it 4 stars because i can understand people saying that it was slightly cheesy and tried too hard to evoke emotions from the audience. i thought jim carrey's performance was really amazing, considering he first became known in a film where he talked out of his butt! he had proved himself to be a decent actor in man on the moon and the truman show but this film requires even more emotional depth than those. in short the film is a good, sweet movie that one should watch if they love frank capra as i do.

Summary: Someone wants Jim Carrey to steer clear of what he shines at
Review: Somebody (possibly including Jim Carrey himself) just isn't content to let Jim Carry do what he does best - be a madcap comic genius. He reached the zenith so far of his career in DUMB AND DUMBER and ACE VENTURA WHEN NATURE CALLS, perfecting that madcap vein. Then, as so often happens with farcical geniuses, someone wanted him to go more "mainstream". Beginning with LIAR, LIAR and THE TRUMAN SHOW, he's been doing relatively serious-shooting comedy. He's been okay at that, but seems to be doing what a lot of other performers could do and do just as well. His former madcap persona, on the other hand seemed to be what he was uniquely gifted at. So fans of the old Jim Carry can hardly help be disappointed at the new Jim Carry, who, though not half bad, scarcely distinguishes himself as the unique talent he formerly shone as. Now with THE MAJESTIC, he continues a long line of undistinguished performances and sometimes misfires. Seems that this movie is sort of a CINEMA PARADISIO wannabe. And I think I might speak for a lot of Jim Carrey fans when I say that CINEMA PARADISIO is scarcely the kind of thing in the first place that appeals big time to Jim Carrey fans. What we have as a result is neither a very memorable movie nor a very memorable Jim Carrey performance. I can't clearly remember much of the plot if called upon to summarize it. And Jim Carrey seems herein to be struggling for an acting identity, even though he formerly had a most stunning one. Surely I'm not alone among his fans in wishing he'd make a sequal to DUMD AND DUMBER and/or a second sequel in the ACE VENTURA series. Even allowing a bit of room for the "sequels are seldom as good as the originals" expectation, that would signal a considerable hope that Jim Carrey as we knew and loved him would be back.

Summary: Superb
Review: Jim Carrey is definitely out of character, but he does a fantastic job. This is a "don't miss" movie. It has emotion and feeling - substance. It's not a shoot 'em up, glorified sex, or hollywood visual effects flick. This is down to earth, real good stuff that I intend to add to my personal library as soon as it's available. This is one of those movies you're glad you went to see. Not just two thumbs up - HANDS up!

Summary: Outstanding!
Review: I loved this movie. I usually like Jim Carrey as a comedian. In this movie he stepped out of his usual role to be dramatic. I'm buying it when it comes out.

Summary: Majestic Cheese
Review: I really wanted to like this movie-- I really did. The first half hour even led me to believe I would . . . And the remaining three hours killed it entirely. Jim Carrey, who turned in a surprisingly intuitive performance in The Truman Show, demonstrates less of his ability to take on a serious role than how to ham up something already seeping with sentiment and cliches. To its credit the film had several endearing moments, and I think with some work and an entirely new screenwriter, the cast could've pulled off a more sincere, thought-provoking movie that didn't scrape the barrel for tears and cheers throughout. One star for the monkey. . .

Summary: The Majestic
Review: I thought "The Majestic" was the best movie Jim Carrey has starred in. I was impressed in his depth as an actor. ...
