Summary: Refreshed and reversed Back to The Future
Review: I loved the film, it had something most movies lack, MAGIC, the same magic that was in back to the future. It wasnt even a film I was looking to see,I just picked a movie at random and I had no idea what it was about but I came out of the cinema smiling. It was well written, unlike many American movies, this one didnt try to explain eveything like the audience were 5 year olds. The acting was good, and I loved the "imperfect" dance scene. I didnt realise it was Sissy Spacec until I visited this site after seeing it (walked in as the starting credits were going) She was definately the best in the movie, a funny alcoholic!

Going to see it again.

Summary: Awful........
Review: How can ANYONE enjoy this ugly mess of a film?! I cannot believe that movie producers are still willing to take Alicia Silverstone on as a leading actress. HELLO??????? THE GIRL CANNOT ACT!!!!!!!!!!! I had to try and keep myself from falling asleep. The plot was basically California Man/George Of The Jungle/Crocodile Dundee mixed into a 'fresh new idea'. Yeah right! It really saddens me that producers are willing to waste $40 million on crap like this, when they could be turning great screenplays (yes, there ARE struggling writers out there with decent scripts, that keep getting ignored for rubbish like this), into movies. Also, has anyone noticed that whenever Alicia appears in a movie, there is never another 'big name' actress playing alongside her? Is it because the studios are afraid that she'll be upstaged by the other actress? Or is it because Alicia realises that she is an awful actress, and doesn't want anyone to know? Why don't you all go and see decent movies with actresses like Reese Witherspoon, Chloe Sevigny, Angelina Jolie, Robin Tunney, and all the other underrated, underpaid actresses in them? Sure, Alicia may be your idea of 'hot', but it's the acting that counts - besides, she may be 'eye-candy' for the boys, but she sure as hell ain't for the girls!! BTW - If anyone's wondering - the one star is shared between Christopher Walken, Sissy Spacek (what the $!@? are they doing in this?!) and Brendan Fraser.

Summary: Great performances of a great cast
Review: This movie is really funny. The first part with Christopher Walken and Sissy Spacek was really good. Usually the parents are played by really wellknown actors but then they don't get any screentime. In this case they got a lot and it was good. Alicia Silverstone and Brendan Fraser were the perfect couple with many funny dialogue between them. I saw this movie quiet a few times and if it was still in the theaters I would go again and again and again and ...

Summary: This movie is great!!
Review: Blast from the Past is a terrific movie. (I should know, I saw it five times.) Brendan Fraser is terrific as a guy who has been locked in a fallout shelter for 30 years and then has to adjust to 90s L.A.

Summary: Cute Movie
Review: I loved this movie although I know its a bit too sweet and too cute at times. It's an excellent candidate for a "family movie" but actually its just a good, solid movie all around. Christopher Walken and Sissy Spacek turn in delightful performances as Brendan Fraser's parents - wholesome and quirky. This movie does have its hints of the darker side of the middle class 60's type environment in which Adam (played by Brendan Fraser) was raised - such as Spacek's closet alcoholism as well as hints of the way our society has changed - from the so-called innocence of America during the Kennedy era with its Cold War paranoia to a modern-day America with its acceptance of a diversity of lifestyles that the 60's hadn't accepted just yet and also its societal problems that just didn't seem to be a part of the early 60's consciousness even though they existed then as now. Brendan Fraser turns in a wonderful performance, effectively portraying Adam's innocence and sense of wonder at everything he sees with humor and even pathos. Alicia Silverstone does a passable job although I felt the flaws in her character were not her fault so much as it was the fault of her character being underwritten and the director being confused as to what to do with her character. David Foley is wonderful as always. The movie is also peppered with wonderful character actors who actually make up some of the movie's funniest moments. Although the screenwriting is not as tight as it could be - especially with regard to the latter half of the movie when Fraser wanders around the modern world - Fraser carries the movie with ease and charm. This movie is well worth watching. Good movie if you're in the mood for something light, not too serious but not bubble gum either, funny, and with wonderful comedic acting by Walken, Spacek, and Fraser. The type of movie you can watch again and again and still enjoy because its just fun and cute and well done.

Summary: BEAVER REDUX
Review: Brendan Fraser is remarkably good in this good-natured comedy about a young man born and raised in a fallout shelter. Fraser manages to parlay his rugged good looks and youthful exuberance into an intensely likeable hero named Adam. Once released into the modern world, Adam is gleefully joyful to watch. Alicia Silverstone is fine as his "Eve" who is both enamored and repelled by Fraser's childishly kind behavior. Dave Foley as her gay friend is marvelous as well. I also liked Joey Skolnik as the bartender who metamorphoses from a happy teenager to the self-proclaimed monk of a new religion. Kudos also to Nathan Killion (Firefly series) as Alicia's macho boyfriend who gets put in his place by Fraser. Also to the delightful dance scene where Fraser and two girls jitterbug to high heaven. But one cannot overlook the truly marvelous performances from Sissy Spacek and Christopher Walken as Fraser's paranoid parents. They are both brilliant, and one can see how these two won Oscars for previous performances. Director Hugh Wilson keeps it all together and I found myself smiling and chuckling all the way through. A delightful find!
