Summary: great movie that didnt get proper DVD treatment
Review: This is a great movie, and it was a moderate success in theatres. Its weird then that they didnt pay extra attention to the DVD, and just threw something together instead. Theres no booklet to the DVD, just the scenes, and theres hardly any special features. Its worth the movie alone, because believe me, its one of the funniest movies ever. just pure slapstick and fish out of the water comedy. but this DVD is just... it saddens me that they totally ignored this movie with the DVD and jsut decided to put it out several months after its theatrical release. oh well, get it for the movie, not the DVD.

Summary: Another very unfunny film from 2001
Review: I am generally not a fan of the "road film comedies" like it's a mad, mad, mad, mad world" and "cannonball run". So, you fans of those films will probably appreciate this one.
It's supposed to be a comedy, but I wasn't laughing. I must have lost my sense of humor somewhere in 2001 with the rest of the bad comedies that came out.
This film has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. I don't recommend it.

Review: this movies one of the funniest comedys ive ever seen. vince veluf did a funny job as seth greens brother and rowan atkinson carried the grosest gag in the movie. the end was cool since i love the music of smash mouth. it was corny though. rent this for laughs and a good chase movie cause its true life is nothing but a rat race..

Review: Being a big fan of classic comedies, I haven't found a recent movie that has made me laugh all that much. And then I saw Rat Race. Rat Race is built drastically after "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World." Only.... Rat Race is modern - and twice as funny. Six complete strangers embark on a rich man's race to win two million dollars. Of course, there are no rules held and it becomes an all-out war to reach the finish line. This is, in essence, a rather goofy movie. The incidents that happen are not likely to occur in real life, but the movie takes them in the most realistic ways; and that's a treat in a bag. Likewise, Rat Race has quick, fast humor. I enjoyed this movie because it never stops and spells out, "Hey, this is a joke; laugh at me!" The movie starts out slow, but once we're into it, the gags and jokes never cease... and you're gonna miss a lot of fun stuff if you aren't paying close attention. However, Rat Race also has a few scenes I found rather tastless and offensive (everything from partial nudity to a joke on World War II). -- I don't think I could bring myself to watch Rat Race ever again, but with its amazing cast and ironic situation after ironic situation, this comes highly recommended for just about any weekend.

Review: Rat Race was a great film. It had an all star cast that consisted of: Whoopi Goldberg, John Cleese, Cuba Gooding Jr., Brekin Meyer, Jon Lovitz, Kathy Najimy, and Rowan Atkinson. They all do a great comedic performance.
The story is about all these people who are in Las Vegas. They all get this token out of different gambling machines. They then go to the customer service area and ask what it's about. They are sent to a place where John Cleese is the host. He tells them that they are to embark on a race for $2,000,000. They have to get from Las Vegas to Silver City, New Mexico.
I don't want to tell you anymore because it will ruin the great belly laughs you'll have. Go out and rent this movie, I think you'll be happy you did.

Summary: LAUGHED SO HARD I CRIED
Review: When I saw this movie in the theatre oh my gosh the people behind me were laughing so hard they were almost falling on top of me. My husband and I were almost on the floor. The theatre was packed and people were laughing so hard that you couldnt hear parts of the movie! :o) I had to make sure I bought it when it will be on DVD. It was that hilarious. My friends and I rate this movie 5 stars, the funniest movie of 2001. I bought this DVD yesterday and I am so glad I did! Love it Love it Love it~

Summary: What a piece of excrement!
Review: Foul, loathsome, tasteless, and stupid -- these adjectives are too kind; they don't do this movie justice. Of course if you like "cute" bowel movement jokes, unbelievably stupid people, "hilarious" dialogue about giving birth [...], tongue-piercing morons, and animal abuse, then you should rush out and buy this movie. The actors who degraded themselves to be in this [...] ought to be ashamed! And the ending -- meant to make it into a feel-good movie, I guess -- was so utterly manipulative and condescending that I was embarrassed to watch it!

Summary: IT'S NOTHIN BUT A FAT RAT RACE!
Review: This movie is funny!
It's about these losers who get an offer to get to Silvercity New
Mexico and get two million dollars!

My favorite part was when Mr.Bean walks into that room that they are all in at the start and says:"look at this room!Have you seen this room?"
And jon lovitz says:"yes-we're in it!"
That scene was funny.

Mr.Bean and Seth Green were my favorite characters-I didn't really care for any of the others-thats for sure!

I own this movie-and watch it everyday-actually I just watch the
good parts-I fast forward every scene with that Meyer guy and
Amy Smart.
They were just too boring.

Kathy Bates had a good cameo as a sguirrel seller-which no-one
ever wants to buy one and she gives them a short-cut-which
they find a human skeleton!

I would recommend this movie to anyone who wants a laugh!

Review: Rat Race is the second coming of It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, a 1963 film many consider a bona fide cinema classic.

The earlier film featured wacky comedy legends Milton Berle, Jonathan Winters, Sid Caesar and others racing madcap over the American southwest for a huge pile of money.

I'm not among Mad World's many fans. At more than three hours, it's way too long, and its moments of hilarious glory are weighed down by seemingly endless schtick.

But Mad World's influence is all over the new comedy, Rat Race.

But here's the good news: While Mad World seemed even longer than its gargantuan 188 minutes, the faster-paced Rat Race seems shorter than its compact 112 minutes.

And Rat Race has more laughs -- that's progress.

In Rat Race, six parties are selected at random at a Las Vegas casino and given the chance to race toward a locker in a New Mexico train station, where $2 million awaits. There is only one rule: No rules.

They don't know, though, that they're being electronically traced and carefully followed. The eccentric casino owner (John Cleese) is offering his high-rollers the chance to bet on their favorite from among the six contestants.

The contestants are:

A mother and her estranged daughter (Whoopi Goldberg and Lanai Chapman), who meet in Vegas.

A disgraced NFL referee (Cuba Gooding Jr.) who's in hiding after blowing a coin flip at the start of a sudden-death period. He unfortunately starts his race by grabbing a ride from a football-gambling cabbie (Paul Rodriguez) who lost his shirt because of the ref's miscue.

A narcoleptic Italian (Rowan Atkinson) who hitches a ride with a medical technician (Wayne Knight) who is manhandling a heart he's transporting for a transplant.

The Pear family, a deceitful husband (Jon Lovitz), his unhelpful wife (Kathy Najimy) and their two bratty kids, who end up having a vacation they never counted on.

A straight-arrow lawyer (Breckin Meyer) who teams with a reckless helicopter pilot (Amy Smart), and learns some laws are meant to be broken.

And two bumbling, con-artists brothers (Seth Green and Vince Vieluf).
After the clever, energetic animated opening credits, Rat Race gets quickly into gear. Writer Andy Breckman and veteran director Jerry Zucker (of Airplane and Naked Gun) pile on gag after gag.
For example, after the angry cabbie dumps the NFL ref in the desert, the ref hijacks a tour bus loaded with Lucy Ricardo look-alikes, en route to a Vegas convention -- and I Love Lucy wackiness ensues.

And, as the Pear family speeds across the desert, the daughter spots a sign for the Barbie museum and the daughter whines that she has to see it. But they discover it's a Klaus Barbie museum, run by neo-Nazis.

The Pears only hope is to escape -- in Adolf Hitler's touring car.

Rat Race is the flat-out funniest film of the summer, a scoopful of slapstick silliness that runs refreshingly counter to the bodily fluids and gross-out humor that dominate film comedy today.

Review: I never thought I'd say this about any movie, but Jon Lovitz alone makes this comedy worth catching. Otherwise, the laughs are only spotty.
