Rating: Summary: You must own this video. Review: This video is a critical piece of anyone's vid. collection. I can't stand Richard Dryfus, but he and the rest of the cast is damn funny. Do not pass this movie by.
Rating: Summary: Pretty Funny Review: Although this film is far from perfect it still delivers quite a few laughs. The critic in me stops me from giving this four stars but this was nevertheless a pretty enjoyable film. It's fast paced humour and short length allow a thin story to still get pulled off. And if you're a horse racing fan you can't help but love this movie.
Rating: Summary: The perfect comedic picture of life at the track Review: This movie is a great comedy and has plenty to offer any movie fan. But if you have ever been out to the track to spend a day at the ponies then you absolutely must see this movie. All the nuances, colorful personalities, and superstitions that occur every day at racetracks around the world are spoofed here in a fun and extremely entertaining fashion that will make this a classic. The comedy itself is delivered flawlessly by an all star cast including Richard Dreyfuss and Terri Garr. But even these stars are are outshone by the job done by Robby Coltrane....but you will have to see for yourself. For anyone that has dreamed of having that one lucky day, or has rooted for the underdog will want to watch this movie time and time again.
Rating: Summary: Dreyfuss' Best Comedic Movie Review: This is the movie I can watch over and over again. It makes me feel good. It is a clasic, along with Local Hero. All the characters are so well defined and lovable including the fellow with the carpet shoes. I'm sorry that Mr. Dreyfuss doesn't get more recognition for this movie. It is joy. Michele
Rating: Summary: Let it Ride Review: How do compulsive gamblers act at a racetrack? First time director Joe Pytka manages to show the real faces behind the hopes of a 45-second horse race of the characters who inhabit the smoke-filled, loose-morals day gamblers. Dreyfus gives a bravado performance along with Garr and Johannsen who provide perfect foils to Dreyfus'ambitions for the day. Jennifer Tilly is priceless. And who can ever forget the green carpet shoes going up in smoke!
Rating: Summary: Don't miss this one... Review: Let It Ride is one of those lost treasures. Dreyfus is at his comic best and David Johansen (Buster Poindexter), Teri Garr, Jennifer Tilly and the rest of the cast are excellent as well. FUNNY throughout. Leonard Maltin, what were you watching? Featuring some very true-to-the-track moments, this movie wins going away. (Based on the book "Good Vibes" by Jay Cronley...read it!)
Rating: Summary: Let It Ride Review: One of the classics about horseracing. Sure, lot's of the "events" couldn't have happened in the course of one day at the track, but the characters, lines, and "underdog wins" content of the movie just makes it all the more hilarious.DVD soon, please
Rating: Summary: Why not, I¿m on the pill¿¿. Review: There have been some really funny movies (like Operation Petticoat and My Favorite Year) and there have been really funny movies about sports (like Caddyshack), Let it Ride is right there with them. Directed by maniac Joe Pytka (the man who brought you those fast-talking FED EX commercials among others), this fast paced slapstick approach to degenerate gambling will keep you in stiches. Richard Dreyfuss has never been better. Robbie Coltrane is HILARIOUS! Richard Edson and Allen Garfield are both perfect, as usual. For the boys, probably, worth the rent for the pre-Superbowl party, or other male-bonding experiences
Rating: Summary: Worth going to the USA for! Review: Let it Ride is an absolute gem, a feel good movie.. Every dog should have his day and our hero deserves every minute of it, supported by a fine cast, include our very own Robbie Coltrane as the sarcastic clerk who grows to love "the little fella".. No longer available in the UK I literally dived at the video shelf when I saw it on sale in San Francisco.. My only wish like many we see a DVD transfer soon.
Rating: Summary: Hey, Leonard, did you REALLY watch this movie? Review: OK, Maltin pans this flick, and of the other 20+ reviewers, only ONE gives it as few as 4 stars. Like just about everybody else, it's one I can watch again & again. Richard Dreyfuss is supported by a great ensemble cast, including David Johansen (who needs to do more stuff like this and SCROOGED), Robbie Coltrane(UK TV's CRACKER), Teri Garr, and OH MY GOD, can that really be Michelle Phillips from The Mamas and The Papas? My only real problem with this movie is that I cannot find Jay Cronley's book of it, Good Vibes. [NEW INFO- Looking for this book on a number of used book sites, WHAT IS UP WITH $100 FOR A USED PAPERBACK? This book needs to be rereleased as a trade PB. Holy cow, I'd even pay full price]
