Summary: Bill Murray Doing What He Does Best
Review: In The Man Who Knew Too Little, Bill Murray once again plays the character that he plays best -- the lovable, well-meaning guy who's just not quite right (think What About Bob?). This time, he's Wallace Ritchie, a guy from Iowa, who decides to take a trip to London to surprise his brother, James (Peter Gallagher). James, however, is preparing for an important dinner meeting, so he buys Wallace a ticket for the Theatre of Life, an experimental theatrical experience, in which people pay to be a part of the play. Wallace is instructed to wait by a certain phone booth until he gets the call that tells him where to go next. But he answers the wrong call -- one that was meant for a real, live hitman. He unknowingly becomes caught up in a secret operation that's supposed to begin a second Cold War -- and he thinks he's just an actor. This movie is filled with hilarious action -- like a car chase involving the police and Wallace driving a Mini the wrong way around a roundabout. Bill Murray does an excellent job of acting clueless (like I said, it's what he does best). Peter Gallagher's performance, on the other hand, makes me nervous. He's just so rigid and unstable -- but Murray more than makes up for what Gallagher lacks. The Man Who Knew Too Little is the perfect addition to any collection. Watch it, and it'll make you laugh out loud -- no matter what kind of mood you're in.

Summary: I loved it
Review: Many people I know tell me they don't like this movie. But I just loved it. This is one of those movies where it will only show a certain type of humor. If this is your kind of humor, you'll love this movie. If it's not, you won't hate yourself for seeing. I advise you to rent the movie and watch, and if you like it buy it. It's diffently one of those movies you watch more than once.

Summary: Great Laughs
Review: Wallace Ritchie is basically a loser but he is a sweet kind of loser. He cliams to work in the movie business and although he does he only works at a Blockbuster Video Store. So when his brother a sucessful businessmen offers him an evening at the Theater of Life it is an offer he can't refuse. This movie is funny proabbly the best Bill Murey movie since Groundhog Day. The laughs start at the very begining and do not stop untill the end. So overall it is very short and very sweet and I recommend it to all

Summary: Laugh Clown Laugh
Review: Bill Murray fits like a glove in this story of a man who thinks he is in a "reality play" but instead finds himself in a free for all of cold war spys pining for the old days. Murry makes it work, with his irreverant humor. He plays a saner version of his WHAT ABOUT BOB character stumbling through threat after threat against his life and limb without ever getting it. It isn't a classic but its classic Murray, you won't consider your time wasted. Excellent party movie.

Summary: Classic Comedy of Errors
Review: I don't know what it is about this crazy, kitschy comedy that makes me love it so much. It might be that Wallace Ritchie (Bill Murray) has an I-wanna-be-in-showbiz kind of flavor to him that by itself is funny. It might be that the character Ritchie throws himself into the "play" with such abandon (the car chase and subsequent conversations with the police are great). But I think most likely it's that the real international spies are delivering up every cliche in the book - when Ritchie is threatened with "Dr. Ludmilla Krapotkin", I found myself exclaiming "The evil lady torturer!" right along with him. There is such an element of "oh no, they wouldn't" in this movie, and it's always followed up with "oh yes, they would!" I think the problem with reviews like the professional one listed here is that the reviewer only saw the one joke: Ritchie has so completely failed at suspending his disbelief about the "Theatre of Life" that he's crossed over into suspending his belief about the very real things going on around him. The filmmakers did not stop with a simple case of mistaken identity here - they've given us a kind of "As You Like It" meets "Casino Royale" and thrown in a dash of "Waiting for Guffman" just to be on the safe side. This is a great flick.

Summary: EXCELLENT COMEDY
Review: Perhaps Bill Murray's best performance ever. This film is clever and entertaining all the way through. I saw this in the theaters and laughed through it. Some of the humor is deadpan, but you have to laugh at the way things just work out. Murray plays a clueless American who visits his brother in England. His brother puts him into this audience participation production for the evening, but he ends up getting off track and role-playing in a real-world espionage situation. Thinking he's playing the role of a special agent, he screws everything up for the real crooks. One of my favorite DVDs to pop in.

Summary: Don't believe the critics
Review: The other day I was telling my boss how awesome this movie was, so he decided to look online for reviews. Almost every professional reviewer gave some derogatory comment about it. From now on, I'm NEVER going to consult those reviews.
This movie is soooo incredibly funny, it ranks among my top ten favs of all time. One thing I can say is that it is imperitive that you pay attention in the beginning, as the rest of the movie hinges on your understanding of the scenario in which Bill Murray finds himself. The plot is naturally ridiculous like any comdedy, but the humor builds on itself, and keeps gettting more and more intense. The ending was a total riot.

Summary: Why do so many people find this movie funny?
Review: I saw this movie when it was in the theater with two friends, after 45 minutes(it felt more like 45 hours)and even though we paid 8 bucks each to see it, we all got up and walked out, that's how bad this movie was. In the theater I didn't hear anyone laughing, not even so much as a giggle. My friends never let me live it down that I made them go see it. I agree with the reviewer who said people who like this movie probably think the phone book is hilarious.
P.S. I gave this movie one star because I didn't have the option of no stars.

Summary: Brit Cameo-a-go-go
Review: Murray plays against type as a good-natured and naive idiot-savant who stumbles through the spy-spoof plot. The story is silly and unbelievable, but Murray always makes his scenes worthwhile, and it's important to remember this is parody. The pacing of the film is quite uneven, the last half hour suddenly pouring on the action and laughs. Extra Entertainment for us Brits is also provided by the many support parts from English celebs, such as Richard "I don't believe it" Wilson as a dastardly villain and John "Fast Show/Fat Bob" Thompson as a Russian gangster (!) It's not exactly a classic, but Murray's lovable performance and the bizarre nature of the whole thing keeps you intrigued. And it's also got Felix "Press Gang/Gamesmaster" Dexter in it, who gets killed in the first twenty minutes (a bonus).

Summary: The Man wh knew too little
Review: This is one of my favorite movies. Murray's best role as a blockbuster empoyee that ends up saving the world thinking it's all an act.
hilarious he alays seems to be messing up the enemies plan as much as he can without even trying, and even in the end he doesn't find out it's real.
