Summary: ALICIA (YOUR A FINE GIRL)
Review:

THE WOOD
Taye Diggs, Malinda Williams, Omar Epps, Richard T. Jones, Sean Nelson 1999

Synopsis
Four hours before Roland's wedding, three best friends (Roland, Slim and Big Mike) reminisce about their boyhood days in Inglewood ("The Wood"), California. From the big dance to the first love, they laugh and tease each other about some of their most memorable times growing up together.

My Review
Great fun and with some good talent from the three boys who play the "young" Roland, Slim and Big Mike. Malinda Williams is beautiful, in every scene. . .I love her. You may remember her from the film 1997 "High School High" with Jon Lovitz and Mekhi Phifer.

Summary: Fantastic and Heartwarming
Review: Everyone ought to see this heartwarming movie because sometime in your life you have, or will, encounter a situation like this one.

It shows unity among blacks and brotherhood among men. It's about friendship and how the bonds of friendship can be thicker than blood. It teaches the meaning of forgiveness.

Summary: easily the best movie that i have ever seen!
Review: finally a independent black movie, that doesn't deal with drugs, and the ever plot line about ghetto life and love. this movie is easily my favorite movie and for many reasons. the main idea of the movie, is that the 3 boys, are reliving all of there high school memories right before the big wedding of taye diggs. i liked every part and i have to say that i was never borded. the movie is so realistic, and it explains teenage life to the full, with realistic problems, language & conversations, its a movie i really could relate to, and i like a lot.

Summary: Nostalgia Only
Review: Having grown up in the Wood (which we never called it) it reminded me of first loves and innocence. I found myself more interested in the whereabouts of my once close friends rather than being truly involved in the story being told. Been there. Done that. Got the T-shirt and the hat. Not to diss what paid someone's bills, but The Wood was just a film. My memories are priceless, but the total running time of the flick is time i'll get never back. I'm not quite sure it was worth that.

Summary: Genuine all round appeal
Review: I am a black Englishwoman and saw this video with two of my four brothers and my cousin (she was visiting from the U.S.). I have to say that it was one of the best evenings we could remember. We laughed so much, not only because of the dialogue and its brilliant delivery, but also in total recognition of ourselves in these characters. Yes! Even over the pond in London our childhoods were eerily similar to those portrayed in this funny, honest and affectionate look back at the mid-eighties and how it shaped our futures. I actually wanted more - to know what happened at college, etc and I certainly wanted to see the 'happy-ever-after'. As all of the other reviewers have pointed out, it does make a change to see a movie with strong performances about ordinary lives. Of course the drugs and violence exist, but not everyone can relate to it and people shouldn't have to have it thrust in their faces every single time they want to see a movie about/ concerning black people (international). Thank God for the Spike Lee-inspired new wave making films like this, The Best Man, Love Jones, Soul Food. Now white people have even less reason for failing to get to know us as equals with the same highs, lows and loves as any other race. These films will all be added to my home collection for repeated viewing. One of my other brothers will be getting it for his birthday and the other, I'm sure, is smiling down from Heaven at this fantastic film.

Summary: Great movie to watch wit' 'yer homeboys an' reminisce...
Review: I am sure that just about everyone can relate to this film in some way or another, whether it's in the memories of your childhood and teenage years spent with your best friends or in the marriage-jitters aspect as one'a you prepares to start a new life. I remember walking outta the theater after seeing this movie and having this exhilerated feeling of happiness just flowing through me. It was a feeling that stayed with me for days after that, lingering within, just refusing to leave. It was a mood of reflection. Of memories that I never want to lose hold of. Of childhood days spent with your best friends, the first day of school, making silly little bets about who will get the girl first, the overall hardships and growing pains that you go through as a teenager. I long for those bright sunny days when I had the whole world ahead of me and the awe of the gifts that life had to offer. I cherish those times so much. The cast in the movie work great together, 'specially the three men, Taye Diggs, Omar Epps, and Richard T. Jones. Their performances are charming and cheerful, full of warmth and heart, they exchange humorous dialogue and have a sincere brotherly love together that makes them so enjoyable to watch, it will put a big ol' smile on your face. This movie really does hit close to home. I really can't think of a better way to describe it, so if you still don't get what I'm saying, just see the movie and then you'll know.

Review: I just love this movie. I don't buy DVD's for the extras. I was so happy I could get this movie on DVD. The movie is about three men who are friends. One is getting married, and he is having second thoughts. The movie takes you through a series of flash backs. I spend time laughing at how folks dressed and wore their hair. It makes you remember when you were in junior and high school. The movie is fun. It's a movie about choices, growing up, friendship and most of all love. Loving your family, friends and the one you want to spend the rest of yoru life with. It's a fun movie to watch.
