Summary: Great fun, great plot, great acting!!! A truly great film!
Review: I first saw this film when I was a child and it still makes me laugh out loud, and I'm now 24. The casting and acting are flawless. Every actor gives their best to the role. In particular, Dolly parton excels in her first movie role. The halluconogenic sequence is absolutely hilarious. The only problem with the movie is that a sequel was never made?!?!

Review: Though surounded by two veteran actresses in this mega star trio cast Dolly Parton steals the show. Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin play alonside Dolly in this film about women in the work place. Dolly Parton was oscar nominated for the title song she wrote for this film. It is only one of many highlights made by Dolly in this film. This is a must see and must buy film with a great cast!!! Summary: For Every Office Worker Who's Wanted to Bump Off the Boss...
Review: Saw this movie over 15 times before it even hit video, let alone DVD - saw it in a theatre when I was younger, and it quickly became one of my favorite comedies. The casting is brilliant. Lily Tomlin plays Violet, an office manager with a sexist-egotistical-lying-hypocritical-bigot of a boss, Mr. Hart (Dabney Coleman), who she is trying to put up with because she's in line for a promotion (even though she's had her share of seeing men SHE TRAINED promoted above and before her). Dolly Parton is Doralee, buxom secretary to the lecherous Mr. Hart, who put up with his advances and pinching and staring because she needs the job (little does she know, thanks to him and his mouth, she's also - behind her back - known as the office floozy). Jane Fonda is Judy, a newly divorced woman who's husband left her for his secretary - she's just started at Consolidated, and is having a hard time adjusting to office life. In one bad -- really bad -- day, Mr. Hart manages to push all three of these women to the breaking point ... and that night, over good barbecue and an even better joint, the women fantasize about what it would be like to kill their boss; each woman has a unique and juicy way of doing him in that is both funny and suitable. The plot changes drastically from here, when each woman systematically -- and accidentally -- puts a variation of her plan to action (or so she thinks), leading to all sort of misunderstandings, uncovering of big business schemes, kidnapping -- even a change in office decor! The casting is ideal; this was Dolly Parton's first film, and she positively glows as Doralee. Jane Fonda, playing against type, is terrific as the mousy Judy, who finally finds her backbone after dealing with her husband's abandonment. And Lily Tomlin is awesome as Violet, a widow with four kids who's just trying to give her family a good life ... even if it means dumping her boss's body to do it (don't worry - this doesn't give the film away!). It's rare to find someone who hasn't seen this great comedy -- anyone who's ever worked in an office can relate to it especially. It's funny, watching it now and seeing all the old typewriters and other office machinery that has now been replaced by computers in 2004 -- kind of dates the movie, in a way, but also adds to its charm. One of the best comedies of the 1980's, "Nine to Five" is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon - and a satisfying tale of justice served for every one of us who's had a hellacious boss.

Summary: Ironic & Funny Movie
Review: The acting of the three lead characters is second to none (Doralee played by Dolly Parton, Violet played by Lily Tomlin & Judy played by Jane Fonda). Each one of them plays such a different character but they all work so well together.
This movie tells the story of three clerical workers in corporate America who have to endure a sexist boss (played perfectly by Dabney Coleman). Each of the main characters fantasize about getting their sweet revenge with their boss. And one day, due to a freak accident (caused by Violet) they actually live out their fantasy! Mr. Heart (the boss) hears of how he was "poisoned" from his 2-faced cohort Roz (played by Elizabeth Wilson) who was only too happy to repeat the gossip that she overheard. By the way, doesn't everyone have a coworker like Roz?? The movie then takes on a twist of black comedy and poetic justice when Judy, Violet & Doralee decide to tie up Mr. Hart and hold him prisoner while they find enough dirt on him so they can blackmail him. It's then a race for time for the ladies to keep Hart tied up and out of sight. Fortunately, Mr. Hart's wife is on a cruise but Roz is still lurking about. After the ladies concoct a scheme to send Roz away for a few weeks their true magic really starts to happen! They enact several policies that were groundbreaking for their time: an alcohol rehabilitation program, equal pay & a daycare center!
The company had never seen such growth and it was all due to Doralee, Judy & Violet. Unfortunately, Mr. Hart manages to finally break out of his "prison" and gets back to the office just in time to see the company's CEO who wants to congratulate. Of course Mr. Hart is more than happy to take ALL of the credit for ALL of the work that he did not do. The CEO decides to promote him! Mr. Hart was shipped out to Brazil without a second thought! Judy finally got her long overdue promotion & the rest live happily ever after!
This movie has a much greater meaning than simple comedy. The secretaries of this country do a lot more than it seems. We should not be stepped on or degraded or put down. I lost my job last summer (corporate downsizing) and I am working as a secretary now. Although dated in some aspects, I found this movie to be an accurate portrayal of what the business world is really like.
This is an excellent movie that will make you laugh with it's irony and comic timing!

Summary: Unique and brilliant
Review: '9 to 5' is a great work of comedy, deserving of a spot with Airplane! and Some Like it Hot. It's story focuses on three strong women, one widowed, one seperated and working on a divorce, and one young and married, all of whom are treated like dirt by their sexist, egotistical, biggot of a boss. The three women are hillarious and have exelent timing with delivering their lines, really bringing out the latent humor in the script. Scenes like the hospital scene, the Xerox room, and the ending remain in your mind, and will cause your lips to roll up into a smile whenever you think about them. It is also inexpensive, which improves the movie's value all the more. You definately get what you pay for.

Review: IT'S ENOUGH TO DRIVE YOU CRAZY IF YOU LET IT. I LOVE THIS VIDEO. THIS WHOLE VIDEO IS JUST FUNNY. I LOVE HOW THEY GET EVEN WITH MR. HART. IT IS JUST A GOOD COMEDY TO HAVE .

This film is about three hard working women Judy, Vilolet & Doralee who is treated bad by thier boss Mr. Franklin Hart Jr. mr. hart had viloet get him some coffe one day and she was really pissed that she acidently put rat poison in his coffe. Mr. hart's desk chair was broke and he fell and bumped his head. meanwhile when violet found out that he fell that she also found out that she accidently put rat poison in his coffe. she thought she killed him and thats whenn all the good stuff happens. You gotta check it out and find out what happened. Don't forget to check out the DVd & Soundtrack to the movie

Summary: The Sane Mutiny
Review: What happens when a group of women working as secretaries for a big company get tired of their tyrannical, chauvinistic, not-very-competent boss? The answer is lots of laughs, if the women are Lily Tomlin, Dolly Parton, and Jane Fonda, and the boss is the deliciously despicable Dabney Coleman. At first, the women just daydream and chat about silly revenge plots. Then, a golden opprtunity for real revenge comes along, and they take their shot at realizing their daydreams. Jane Fonda was the bigget name in the cast when the film came out, but she, while okay here, is outshone by Tomlin, Coleman, and Parton. The first half of the film is funnier and better than the second half, but it's a worthwhile watcher. To buy it? Only if you get a good price on a good used one.

Review: I first saw this movie on cable when I was a teenager and I just didn't care for it and was bored but about two years ago I saw this movie on Comedy Central and this time around I loved it and thought it was very funny and I think Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda were all very good and Dabney Coleman was also very good as their chauvinistic boss and now I find movie very funny and I highly recommend it and I will have to think about buying the DVD!
