Rating: Summary: plastic morality Review: Not to *** about the sagging moral character of Hollywood, but the last third of this film destroys the otherwise satisfying pace, character, and construction of what comes before it--it's a tricky business to ride the absurd and dark line between farce and violence and the director stumbles more than he stands. There are certainly memorable scenes and the film warrents a viewing, but to claim it's the best film of 1998 offers a sad testimony to the state of modern cinema.
Rating: Summary: Movie Buff LOVES "GO" Review: This is a great movie! The action sequences are exciting, the danger feels real and the black comedy is everywhere! Of course there are similarities to Pulp Fiction but that was a great movie too! If you haven't seen this film yet then buy it NOW and have it sent next day air! You won't be sorry!!
Rating: Summary: Yeah... we got our own domain. Review: As a more-than-casual fan of the cinema, I must say that "Go" was quite entertaining. Is it a masterwork in the classic sense of the word, shining beautifully with subtle but striking profundity? Certainly not. But as a vehicle of engaging storytelling, "Go" works. You'll love "Go"
Rating: Summary: PULP FICTION FORMAT DUPLICATED! WARNING! WARNING! Review: This movie tries to capture the beat and pulse of the late nineties "generation" of teens and twenty somethings. I am a proud member of the generation X and maybe I'm either "too old" or just didn't get it. This film represents and exaggerates the styles and mentality levels of today's youth. And let me tell you, they are a disgrace! This film has characters that are drug addicts, jaded!, pretentious, phony (one white character thinks he's black...pathetic!). I did not like the style to this film either. All the boys in this film need to WASH THE HAIR GEL OUT OF THEIR HAIR, AND TRY COMBING IT. That spiky looking ninties hair is so blah I want to throw up! I can't wait until the next fashion trends get here. This movie epitomizes everything that is going wrong in America today. Columbine ring a bell? And not to mention this is a total rip off of the premise of Pulp Fiction. Get your own ideas Doug Liman!
Rating: Summary: "Go" is the best movie of 1999 Review: This film should have raked in the money. Why it was not promoted more is beyond me. It is intelligent, fun, action packed, and has supurb dialog. Sarray Polley is wonderful as is Katie Holmes, Jay Mohr, and Scott Wolf. The way that the movie portrays each persons perspective of different vignettes is very original. I reccommend to anyone who likes good, fun movies that are intelligent
Rating: Summary: not bad film Review: i think i didn't really like this film because some part of this film are quit boring.
Rating: Summary: Bride of "Pulp Fiction," but who cares Review: So, basically it's "Pulp Fiction" (like you haven't heard), but it's still better than all those so-called "hip" independent flicks that came out right after "Pulp Fiction." Doug Liman sets a trippy mood with the opening credit sequence and doesn't let up until the final credits roll. Even the usually god-awful Katie Holmes is good and if Sarah Polley isn't the next big thing, I don't know who is. But, if sex is what you're looking for, the three-way is sexier than anything since Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly in "Bound."
Rating: Summary: Hilarious and inventive 2/3 of the way through, then... Review: I loved this movie from the get go with it's kenetic visual style and wry acting. However, the third act involving Scott Wolf and Jay Mohr just about completely fell flat and ruined a movie that had me giving it 4 stars. However, I do recommend this film for anyone that was a fan of Pulp Fiction or black comedies.
Rating: Summary: A MUST for your DVD collection Review: A great, loud kinetic movie. Do yourself a favor and don't waste it on your VCR. Better yet, invest in a DVD player and make this your first title for your collection. It is a 2.35 aspect ratio widescreen, see it as the Director and Cinematographer intended. You might also want to crank the volume on this one!
Rating: Summary: GO- Halfway there Review: Go is a film with a lot of energy, attractive cast, intriguing set-up... and a let-down at the end. With the various characters colliding in humorous and surprising ways throughout the movie's three "chapters," I think a lot of viewers were expecting a big, bang-up climax at the end (like its obvious influence, Pulp Fiction). Hell, given the irresponsible behavior (drug-selling, gun-shooting, hit-and-running, etc.) of most of the characters, even some introspection on someone's part would ben nice. But no. The movie just ends. Much like another indie icon, Spike Lee, Doug Liman paints himself in a corner and just stops the film and rolls the credits. But like I said, there's a lot to like here. The movie made me wish for a while that I was in my twenties, living hedonistically in LA. Plus we get great performances by Katie Holmes (the first time she's ever impressed me), Sarah Polley (amorality is SO sexy), Timothy Olyphant (ditto), and Taye Diggs (something for the "manistream" audience who missed him in How Stella Got Her Groove Back). Because the last impression I took from the movie was mild disappointment, I'm not sure if I would buy the DVD, but for anyone who thinks "youth" movies are only as deep as stuff like She's All That, GO should be at least seen.
