Rating: Summary: own this today! Review: Such an entertaining movie. The best thing I liked about this film was that it is real life. This is what the new generation is about.Trust me you're gonna like this one, humourous and worth the time!
Rating: Summary: Timothy Olyphant is AWESOME! Review: This movie was very good and very fast paced. It will keep your attention throughout. The star who I really want to see more of is Timothy Olyphant who plays Todd Gaines the drug dealer. He and Katie Holmes have one of the sexiest love scenes and they keep their clothes on! He is very convincing as well as the other characters in their roles. This is a movie which is one story that takes place in one night, but seen from all points of view and it all comes together very well. Tim what are you in next?
Rating: Summary: VERY entertaining! Review: I thought this was a nice change of pace from Swingers, but it has the same character elements as some of the swingers characters...but darker. Much different than Pulp Fiction, nonlinear storyline- yes, but far from a ripoff. Great |Flick.
Rating: Summary: fun, fast, flipped Review: good music, great characters, interesting plot. similar to pulp fiction in the use of time sequencing, but not enough to spoil it.
Rating: Summary: Sylish and Upbeat fun but nothing essential Review: I am a huge fan of Doug Liman's film "Swingers" and an even bigger fan of Quentin Tarentino's movies. Now if you merge the two I've just mentioned, you get Liman's new film "Go", a stylish film that takes you through the dark edges of the L.A. Rave scene and Las Vegas. The film has three stories that are all connected to a grocery store and all go together somewhat in the end (Pulp Fiction anyone?). Why it sounds like that was stolen from Tarentino the film's stories are very original. 1. A girl and her friend have to run a drug deal for 2 soap stars working for a cop. 2. A guy and his buddies go to Las Vegas looking to live it up but indstead get chased by the owners of a gentleman's club. 3. The soap stars and a cop try attempt to bust the girl in story 1. All the stories fold together in the end. The secound one is the best and the other two are too much alike and not all that interesting but the style and dialogue keeps these scenes going. Overall the film isn't bad. It's a great rent. It does drag at parts and there are only a few really exciting scenes in a film that seemed like it had more promise. But I couldn't help but appreciate Limon's effort to bring a Tarentino-esque plot to life with his own unique stlye.
Rating: Summary: Somewhat Predictable... Review: I think I have seen this movie before, it was called "PULP FICTION". The plot was extremely predictable, they must have had to "dumb it down" so that slacking 20-somethings could follow the plot or something. On the positive side the movie was VERY funny, it really had some great quirky moments. Also it won some points for it's true to life nature (I can say that, having been part of the crowd that started the whole alternative/gen-x culture about 10 years back) this is definitely a case of art imitating life I suppose. All and all it was an entertaining movie, not a bad little flick. If it were not such a blatant Pulp Fiction rip off, I would have given it 4 stars. I really wanted to give it 3-1/2 but there is no option, so I have to settle for 3.
Rating: Summary: you must have it! Review: very funny, good acting, soprizing, feature editing is best
Rating: Summary: Highly entertaining movie, brilliant feature-packed DVD. Review: I highly recommend Go to anyone who likes any or all of the following movies: Pulp Fiction; Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels; Very Bad Things. Go is another movie in the crime-comedy genre, although that's all I will suggest about the content; I had no idea what to expect when I watched Go for first time and I loved it. The DVD picture and sound quality is brilliant and it contains tons of extras (director's and editor's commentary, trailer, making-of documentary, music videos to three catchy songs from the soundtrack, and 14 deleted scenes/outtakes). Here's another suggestion: don't expect Go to be an imitation of Pulp Fiction. It isn't.
Rating: Summary: Not Great - but very very good Review: First, this is a VERY good movie - probably one of the better ones for 1999. Unlike sooo many movies - it has a fairly good acting, a good story - with a few unexpected twists- and overall, is entertaining all the way though. You've got to appreciate the way Liman is able to tell a good tale without Big name star or special effects. That said - at times i wonder if Doug had any original ideas when he wrote this. Clearly he takes a lot from Tarintino - from the non-linear story line (actually more 'Jackie Brown' than 'Pulp Fiction' - since it's a fairly straight line - just from different perspectives). To the 'deep thoughts' spoken in Diners ('I'm strangley drawn to Family Circus') to big 70's cars and dead 70's celebrities (Tele Savalis) and of course the whole LA - Drug culture scene. Also - the car chase in Vegas reminded me a lot of James Bond in Diamond are Forever - I mean - didn't they turn down the exact same alley???? Look - Liman isn't Tarrintino - his stories are a little too neat, and seem to always end puedo-happy (ala Swingers) - but don't sell this movie short - and the sound track is great! and more modern than Tarrinto would ever do.....
Rating: Summary: What a disappointment Review: I find it insulting that the Director and writer(maybe one in the same) tried to pass this off as something original. It is a shame that Liman modeled it after Pulp Fiction because now Pulp is just going to get more bad press that it doesn't deserve. That was a great movie that yes, broke the rules by having a non linear screenplay that fused three stories together...however Tarantino is well schooled in cinema...and he understands the elements of characterization and screenwriting. As a result he was able to artfully take liberties and create something that was hip and stylized. Go, on the other hand reminded me of a script done by a filmstudent who pulled an allnighter: Hackneyed and cliched and sloppy. I would expect something a little better from the director and the people who gave us Swingers. But Hollywood is full of one hit wonders. Next time study the basics guys.
