Summary: Disappointing
Review: The movie relies too heavily on Jim Carrey to carry it off, rather than have a real plot. The gags are lame. The cotton mouth scene was not funny, nor was shooting a cow 6 times in the head, strangling it, shoving his fingers in its nostrils and having Irene kick it, funny.
Although the movie had a good end, it was an overall disappoinment for me.
The 1 star is for Jim, of whom I am a fan, and the other is for the makers, for effort.

Summary: Well, I guess it turned out OK
Review: This film was certainly not amazing, but was OK. Here are its pros and cons:

Pros:

1. A guy with a split personality who's really loving but whose other side isn't. Hilarious concept, possibly genious.

2. Other twists make it great

3. Interesting supporting characters such as the sons and Whitey: all good so far.

Cons:

1. Badly manifested and doesn't realise its potential.

2. Possibly offensive to some groups of people.

3. Jim Carrey sinks ever lower.

Summary: You Were Expecting, Maybe, Hamlet?
Review: Why are some so shocked at the content of this movie and using words like "gross" and "crude" to express their displeasure and indignation. This isn't the Muppets, its Jim Carrey and the Farrellys. You pretty much had to know what you were in for when you bought your ticket. At least you had to know what you could expect. Comedy is among the most subjective of the Arts. Can't analyze or explain it. You laugh or you don't. I did. This is one man's opinion. See this movie with your eyes and mind open then form your own opinion based upon its content alone, and not against a backdrop of others' moralistic expectations. Yes, there's language but if you can live with that you'll laugh. This is a comedic genius at the top of his game, doing what no one else on the planet (or elsewhere) can do. They don't hand him $25 mil. per picture for nothing.

Summary: Funny, but Heavy on the Profanity
Review: This movie is one of the funniest movies I've seen recently. It was heavy on the profanity, so caution is appropiate if that offends you. In short, the movie is a story of a nice guy that snaps one day after years of being abused by the entire neighborhood.

Its been a while since I've seen Jim Carey this funny.

Summary: Surprisingly hilarious!
Review: This film was simply hilarious. I could not predict what was going to happen from one moment to the next. When I first heard of the concept of this film and saw the commercials for it, I thought it would be too silly and stupid to be funny. I was so wrong. It's filled with one laugh after another. I loved it. It's the type of film I could watch again and again. For those with kids, this is a Jim Carrey film and it is not intended for a young audience. There's too much profanity for that. My boyfriend is usually bothered by bathroom humor but was not bothered by this. You'll have to use your own judgement on that one. I was surprised that so many people seemed not to like the film. I rented it, but I certainly would not hesitate to purchase it.

Summary: If you like crude, crass and vulgar this movie is for you!
Review: One of the worst movies I've ever watched. I'm not a prude, but this was demeaning to women especially. I had to veer my teenagers out of the room, and didn't watch it; however, my husband continued to watch thinking it would get better. A real downhill acting job for Jim Carrey, and it makes me not want to watch another movie with him in it if this is his true self.

Summary: Toilet humor without the humor
Review: I love toilet-humour but this is mostly toilet without the humour. The Farrellys always had, until now, a good idea of what's funny, and if they can be gross and funny at the same time, well, that's even better. But I didn't find anything funny about the prolonged shot of the defecating dog nor the placement of the chicken where the sun don't shine. I think I only laughed aloud twice -- at the bit with the cow and at the sloppy wet kisses between the black dwarf chauffeur and Charlie's ex-wife. There were other good moments but those damn promo trailers had already spoiled them. I think the involvement of scowling corrupt cops in the plot was also a misstep. Not only are the scenes involving the paper cut-out criminals incredibly dull, but just the presence of a menace in a Farrelly brothers movie is incongruously jarring, and as a result, I couldn't sense any of the sweetness that was at the core of their previous films. Moreover, the Farrellys felt obligated to wrap up all the loose ends begotten by their ill-conceived plot with a stupid action sequence replete with an albino deus ex machina. As for Jim Carrey, he is fun to watch, as always, especially in those scenes in which Hank and Charlie confront one another, which reminded me of the hilarious bathroom sequence in 'Liar Liar'. But alas, he was unable to save the film. I should also note that hockey fans may want to stay for the closing credits. Giving billing to normally ignored extras at the end of the film may seem pointless for most folks, but hockey fans will see where Cam Neely, Brendan Shanahan and Reggie Lemelin's kids appeared in the film.

Summary: Not Worth Watching
Review: I really wanted to like this movie, by I didn't. Jim Carrey delivers a mediocre performance while the plot is so dumb and cliche-ridden that it's pathetic. Worst of all, the humor is almost entirely missing. With a few rare exceptions (and most of these scenes you've already seen in the trailer), there are no funny moments. I was left wondering whether this film really was intended to be a comedy. But if it wasn't, then what was it?

Summary: amusing but not up to standards
Review: **1/2 In the Farrelly Brothers' "Me, Myself & Irene," Jim Carrey gets to run through his considerable bag of tricks playing a Jekyll and Hyde-type character who, as a Rhode Island state trooper, finds himself escorting a young woman back to the authorities in Upstate New York. Playing a man suffering from a split personality - one nice, the other psychotic - Carrey is free to pull out all the stops in terms of mugging, pratfalls and plain old-fashioned silliness. No comic actor working in movies today is more adept than Carrey is at the instant transitioning between seeming normalcy and uncontrolled mania. Yet, for all his hard work here, the Farrellys, who seem to have plateau-ed in this work, have left Carrey pretty much stranded in the script department this time out. Perhaps the shtick is simply starting to get old and, as a result, for all the film's humorous, inventive moments, "Me, Myself & Irene" feels strangely stale. Even Carrey seems at times to be just going through the motions - picking up a fat paycheck doing what he's done numerous times before while waiting for that next big "legitimate" project like "The Truman Show" to come along.

Don't get me wrong. No movie written and directed by the Farrellys and starring Carrey and Renee Zellweger can fail to elicit its fair share of laughs. Some of the concepts are simply so outrageous that they can't help but be funny. But that is a far cry from a fully integrated work of comic intelligence - a result these gifted filmmakers, working together, have been able to achieve several times in the past (to great box office success, I might add). Regrettably, for all its moments of inspired zaniness and silliness, "Me, Myself & Irene" finds both Carrey and the Farrelly Brothers marking time and resting on their laurels. I think it's time for all of them to move on.

Summary: Not great, not terrible
Review: Well, I couldn't help but add my review to this pile that seems overwhelmingly negative. I just watched this movie again with my mom and sister and must admit I was quite embarassed by the extreme toilet humor. Most if it I had to explain to my mother, the rest I just left unexplained. If she doesn't know what most of the jokes meant, good for her. It's a pretty good example of how far into the depths our society has fallen! I'm constantly being amazed at what is being allowed in theaters nowadays and believe me people, this is NOT progress! On the other hand there were some hilarious moments, even among those NASTY jokes. Frankly, this movie proves that Carrey can make almost anything funny. The movie itself is, well, I couldn't begin to explain the plot. I mean, I get the whole split personality thing, something that comedies have used before in the past, but what the heck was the deal with Zellweger? What I'm asking is, what was the whole plot there? All I understood was that her ex-boyfriend/boss was trying to kill her because he thought she knew something, but WHAT? Can someone please tell me what she supposedly knew? Of course, it was clear that she DIDN'T really know, and neither do I. That was my main complaint. Also, I really didn't think the triplets were all that hilarious. I mean, the whole "foul-mouthed geniuses" thing. A lot of the jokes were totally stupid. And I don't mean stupid funny, like we're used to from Jim Carrey. I mean, what's funny about them mutilating a cow for example? That joke did nothing for me, while in a movie like Dumb and Dumber I was laughing from beginning to end. There are plenty of laugh moments in this movie though, here and there. I DIDn't feel it was necessary, or even all that funny, to have a narrator, not even if it was Rex Allen Jr. Still, this movie is worth seeing if you like toilet humor alla Something About Mary, but don't expect a new Carrey classic. Rene Zellweger looked pretty cute in it though!
