Review: For a long time, I had no desire to see this movie. I think because it came out around the same time as a movie called House Arrest, which I have admittedly never seen. However, House Arrest looked unbelievably awful, and I thought that the Ref looked to have a similar premise and didn't really want to see it. About a year ago however, I decided to watch it, and it has since become one of my favorite movies. Others have done a fine job of summarizing the plot of the movie, so I won't bother. Let me just say that the movie is brilliantly hilarious. Everyone will love it. And by the way, they're GOOKINS, not coosins, honey.

Summary: An awesome offbeat comedy sleeper
Review: The cast is terrific in this film. Kevin Spacey, his wife, and Denis Leary all work wonderfully together. The film deliveres miles a minute of joke, and the joke to laugh ratio is very high. I have never seen this many jokes in a film since maybe Airplane, Beverly Hills Cop, or Good Morning, Vietnam. I have to imagine that some of these things are improv. Anyway, the story involes the Denis Leary character as a robber on Christmas Eve, kidnapping a lady in a convienence store, making her take him home with them. They are having marital problems (in the film she is married to Kevin Spacey).. The only huge problem is that they are expecting family for christmas eve. The robber pretends to be the marriage counseler, and halarious things happen. "You listen to me," this film is great, especially the ending, "Do you know what your present is. I'm gonna buy a cannon, load some gun powder in it shoot you to Jersey, I'm gonna steal a car, drive to Jersey, pick up your ashes in a big plastic bag, sip tea, watch the Charlie Brown Special, and watch your ashes burn in my fireplace." Other amusing parts are the "What's that smell" parts, and "Excuse me, exceuse me, excuse me, excuse me!" DVD please?

Review: WHY ISN'T THIS MOVIE ON DVD YET? BY FAR THIS MOVIE IS A STANDARD BY WHICH GREAT ACTING AND WRITING INTERTWINE WITH THE OUTSTANDING CAST. NAME 3 OTHER ACTORS WHO COULD HAVE PULLED OFF WHAT KEVIN SPACEY,DENIS LEARY, AND JUDY DAVIS DID. NOT TO MENTION THE SUPPORTING CAST WAS TERRIFIC. CHRISTINE BARANSKI PLAYS THE SNOB CHARACTERS SO WELL. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE IT IS SO FUNNY YOU WON'T BE SORRY. PLEEEEAAASE!!!! GET THIS MOVIE ON DVD SOON, MY VHS COPY IS WEARING OUT.

Summary: Connecticut is the fifth ring of Hell...
Review: This without a doubt is the funniest movie I have seen period. The cast gives a wonderful and very well presented story of a home robbery gone horribly wrong. Along with a dysfunctional family that makes ones own family seem perfect. Dennis Leary is the best!!! The script is one of the funniest and, the director took full advantage of that with the characters. If you have not seen this movie you owe it to yourself to check this one out. I have seen it (well I've lost count how many times) and still laugh just as hard as when I first saw it. Two thumbs way up!!

Review: If you love quick witted personalities, this movie IS IT! Denis Leary is tearfully funny and really should have recieved a lot more recognition for this movie than he did, and Kevin Spacey, well his name says it all! This is a MUST SEE...if you haven't yet, you don't know what you are missing! And if you have seen it...the more you watch it the funnier it gets, because you pick up on more of Denis Leary's lines you missed because you were laughing so hard! And most importantly WHEN IS IT COMING OUT ON DVD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Review: This is one of the funniest movies out on the market today. Let me start by that. Oh, yeah, before this review begins: WHY ISN'T THIS ON DVD YET!!!!!? WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!!!!?Now, back to the review. This is a movie that is GUARANTEEDto make you laugh until it hurts and you are on the ground, laughing so hard that your crying. This is also a very underated movie that should've gotten a lot more recognition. It's about a Christmas gone straight to hell. Denis Leary plays a theif who is fleeing from the cops when a robbery has gone wrong. He takes a couple hostage, hoping to hide out in their home and stay away from the police. Well, he's about to find out that he's going to wish the cops had caught him, because the couple he has taken hostage are bitter, angry, and always yelling at each other. Gun or no gun, this couple will fight and argue until Hell freezes over. Leary does his best to try to calm things down, but he just might lose his sanity before the night is over. Denis Leary steals the show, spewing some of the funniest lines ever heard. He is presented as the foul-mouthed, anger-filled comedian we all know and love. Kevin Spacey is also very funny in this movie, and this was before he was famous. The script is very original. This is a holiday classic that should be on everyone's list. What are you waiting for? A freaking invitation? Go and see this movie already! You won't regret it. This has to be one of the funniest films I have ever seen. An orignal work of art, if you ask me. I can't wait for this to come out on DVD, but for now, I guess the VHS will just have to do. "The Ref" is a hillarious, uproaring, tongue-lashing, anger spewing, one-way ticket to hell...and you're going to want to go a second time!

Review: This movie will have you laughing to the point of tears. It was one of the funniest things I've seen in years. Spacey,Davis,Leary and Glynis Johns are just beautiful.The caustic dialog couldn't be any better.Get this and watch it immediately. You won't regret it!

Review: This is without a doubt, one of the funniest films you will ever see. Judy Davis and Kevin Spacey are brilliant as the bickering couple who are taken hostage, but Leary steals the show as the kidnapper being driven mad by the constant arguing. It is criminal that this film has not been given a DVD release, especially considering some of the rubbish being released. COME ON PEOPLE, GIVE US THIS FILM ON DVD!!!!!
