Summary: Better than average laughs
Review: A fairly standard spoof, with a few gems, most notably the scene in which Charlie Sheen fries an egg, two rashers of bacon, and two hash borwns on Valeria Golino's stomach, which will likely become a classic as time passes. For a few good laughs, this hits the spot. END

Summary: Great fun
Review: A hilarious movie, made moreso by the fact that the acting and plot are universally better than what you'd find in the object of it's spoofing, "Top Gun." The film is loaded with Abrahams's usual sight-gags, puns, slapstick, and quick wordplay. There's always something going on in the background, making for fun repeat viewings. The overall cheesiness of the special effects really adds to the overall experience. Besides that, it's educational, too! You'll never again wonder what a chafing dish is.

Summary: The Mother of all Slapstick
Review: After setting the police profession back 100 years with the "Naked Gun" movie, director Jim Abrahams decided to set his sights on the military with "Hot Shots." And the military will never be the same again.

What makes this movie so much fun are the sight gags that are in almost every scene. As with all good slapstick comedy movies, there are too many sight gags for you to be able to catch them all the first, and even second, time around. Every time you watch this movie, you will find another sight gag that you hadn't noticed before.

The movie also comes with a great comedic cast. It stars Charlie Sheen who for the first time really gets a chance to show how funny he can be (his previous comedy movies are pretty much forgettable). He is supported by Jon Cryer, Lloyd Bridges, and Cary Elwes. Each of these people have a great track record on their own when it comes to comedy. Together, they make the movie work.

Summary: very funny
Review: Classic 90's film. Charlie Sheen and cast are very funny. Don't try to make sense out of the film, its just one big blunder of mishaps and follies. Enjoy.

Summary: Pudding???
Review: First off, Valerie Golino is so beautiful. I mean how can you not fall in love with her at first site? What she does with her belly button and grape is nothing short of amazing.

That said, this movie is hilarious. I hate the movie Top Gun, and can't stand Tom Cruise. It was a joy for me to see one of my favorite actors, Charlie Sheen, taking 'Hot Shots' at Cruise and his lame movie.

Also Lloyd Bridges steals every scene he's in. He made the movie as funny as it was. The guy had a wound from every battle in the last 50 years and had an artificial body part to prove it.

In the tradition of Naked Gun and Airplane! You have to also see the two Hot Shots movies. Part 2 is just as funny as 1.

Summary: Perfect Top Gun Takeoff
Review: Hot Shots is a great spoof of the mega movie Top Gun. It was released at almost the perfect moment in time: after the victory in the Persian Gulf War. This was a time when America was willing to laugh at something that would ordinarily require the utmost seriousness: the military and by proxy, war.

Charlie Sheen plays Topper Harley, the Tom "Maverick" Cruise character, who is haunted by his father's accident. Cary Elwes is the Val "Iceman" Kilmer arch rival who doesn't think that Topper is safe enough to fly. But the stage is stolen by Valeria Golino who plays Topper's love interest. She delivers her lines with the precision of an experienced comedic professional. Almost all of the really funny scenes involve Golino playing some stock female character to perfection. Lloyd Bridges also gives a good performance as the half wit admiral in charge of the unit.

Hot Shots succeeds in capturing the humor of previous movies like Airplane and Top Secret. It's not quite as funny as its predecessors, but it comes close.

Summary: Hilarious!
Review: Hot Shots is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Charlie Sheen is okay, but in my opinion, the real comic here is Lloyd Bridges, playing Admiral Benson. Of course there are many other funny characters including the wall-eyed vision Washout. If you like movies with stupid humor, this is a must see.

Summary: Sheen is great in this classic.
Review: Hot Shots! is a great movie with a great script and great acting by Charlie Sheen. Sheen is a great comedy actor and this movie proves it. This movie came out the same summer as one of the Naked Gun movies, and it spoofs Top Gun perfectly. Lloyd Bridges is also great as an absent minded General. Valarie Golino is great in this movie too.
