Summary: This Movie is the BEST
Review: We loved this movie so much, it is fun and entertaining and so "80's". This is the best movie ever. You can watch it over and over and enjoy it every time. 5 stars definately!

Summary: Intensely Written
Review: Personally, I don't like heavy metal but this movie got me thinking twice about my likes and dislikes. The songs were juxtaposed quite perfectly, and I sincerely recommend this movie to anyone who is either inlove or on the verge of joining a music group. The song "We All Die Young," was definitely the perfect fit for this movie. Mark Wahlberg out-did himself in this movie. It's A Must See....

Summary: Awesome!
Review: I loved this movie, the acting and the music. In fact, I went about the soundtrack too! Completely entertaining.

Summary: Cool, but predictable
Review: This is a cool movie. Not the best movie you'll ever see, in fact not even close, but still worth watching. Mark Wahlberg does a surprisingly good job playing a rockstar. Jennifer Aniston does a pretty decent job, although I think she usually plays the same type of charachter in every movie. This movie is basically about a guy named Chris Cole(Wahlberg) who sings in a tribute band that plays songs by his favorite band, Steel Dragon. He copies everything about Steel Dragon and is completely obsessed with them. Anyways, one day Steel Dragon calls him up and asks him to come audition to be their lead singer. He makes it, and his dreams come true. That's not the end though, but I'm not gonna tell you the rest. I will tell you one thing though:it's pretty predictable. I'm not saying that this is a bad movie though, it's very enjoyable. Also, Zakk Wylde plays guitar for the fictional band, and is in the movie a bit, and of course he's an incredible guitarist. I have to admit, their songs are pretty cool. However, this is not a great movie, and for better movies about rock bands, try "Almost Famous", and the hilarious "This is Spinal Tap".

Summary: Out of words to say how bad this is.....
Review: For those of us who really like rock and heavy metal (the kind og guy who buys hundreds of CD's, that knows a about a band history, a band line-up, that know the songs for their names, etc), this movie is sacrilege. It's utterly bad. It has produced damage to the already prejudiced image of rock. Wahlberg's acting is lame; the options for the soundtrack is absurd: the so-called band STEEL DRAGON is supposedly a killer band, witht hei own great original material. But the songs that STEEL DRAGON play in the movie, as if it was of their authory, are not!! It has one song from RAINBOW, another from DEF LEPPARD, it's absurd!

Even as joke it did not work, because it was not conceived as a joke!

Summary: Good music but story had holes
Review: I grew up in the 80's and loved the music. I thought Mark Wahlberg did a good job and the plot had promise. There should have been more about his relationship with his Steel Dragon bandmates other than with his girlfriend, played by Jennifer Aniston. I didn't even see the point of her presence in the movie. She basically played Rachel with an 80's hairdo, uttering bored and sarcastic lines, and wasn't quite skanky enough to play an 80's metal groupie. Watch it for the tunes, or better yet, just buy the soundtrack and/or skip to the audition and concert scenes on the DVD chapter selection.

Summary: GREAT FLICK!!
Review: I just can't seem to get enough. This is a new favorite of mine and I would think anybody who didn't like it must not have enjoyed 80s metal music! As one who's lived and thoroughly enjoyed the heavy metal, head-bangin', COOL music of the 80s, I can say the music made the movie (and so did Mark Wahlberg)! High fives to Jennifer Aniston & Mark Wahlberg for their great performances!

The fictitious band, Steel Dragon, has some great tunes (especially We All Die Young) and again, high fives to those who wrote these songs and put this great mix of individuals together to perform the Steel Dragon songs!

As for the ending - I won't say what happens but I was quite pleased! I HATE reading bad reviews on this movie because there was nothing bad about it!!

5 stars - a must see!! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Summary: All's you need is a Dream
Review: In RockStar, Chris (Mark Wahlberg)had that dream and he followed through with it. If you like 80's Metal Bands, this movie is for you. I fell in love with this movie the first time I saw it in the movie store.. Definately worth the $$$ you spend on it - wherever you buy it from, of course it's going to be cheaper here, it's worth it.

Summary: Utterly Ridiculous
Review: Ingredients for a BAD film:

1 Mark Wahlberg
1 Jennifer Aniston
1 Totally ripped off story line
3000 or more cliches about the music industry

Mix together for approximately 2 hours
NEVER SERVE!!

Based loosely (and I use that word liberally) on the life of Tim "Ripper" Owens, Rock Star is the story of a man who gets the call to sing in the band of his dreams. Ripper took over for the singing duties from the departed Rob Halford in Judas Priest. Not only do they soil the reputation of one of the most legendary heavy metal acts of all-time but they also make light the ex-frontman's choice of lifestyle. What really bothered me about this film is not all of the cliches about the rock industry or the horrendous acting but the ending. The ending is an insult to every single heavy metal fan living, suggesting that in the end, Wahlberg has "outgrown" this kind of music and has now "progressed" onto the "latte" rock of the Dave Matthews Band. To suggest that Heavy music is just a phase to its listeners is nothing short of blasphemy. This film is the worst kind of tripe that hollywood is capable of cranking out. Do yourself and favor and get a root canal instead...you'll thank me later. "I'm sorry but this gets my lowest rating ever...7 thumbs up" - Homer Simpson.

Summary: Promising premise,but...
Review: When I first saw the trailers I thought it looked kinda fun(Heck,I was into the hard rock/hair metal thing for a time in the 80s),but then I saw the movie and that hope was dashed.A promising premise is undermined by a shoddy script and saccharine sentimentality. Is this a CBS sunday night movie? How this flick ended made me smirk, thinking of how so many metalheads morphed into the grunge scene.Barf!
