Rating: Summary: Bette, Kathy, and Sarah Review: I watch a movie for 2 reasons; the trailer, and the actors. If it looks good there's a good chance I will go see it. If it has actors I love and it looks good there's an even greater chance. With this movie, I first rented it because of the three actress's on the cover. Bette Midler, on the cover, just looked like she would be funny. I was right, I have never seen Bette funnier in this type of comedy, the voice, the facial expressions, the lines, GoodBye World? I also had loved Kathy Nijimy in Sister Act and she also was funny in this movie especially with the vaccum? Sarah J.P. was really funny as the dumb frightened, at times, witch. Seeing her jumping onto the black river, very funny? This movie doesn't have the best scipt all the way through but it does more than make up for it with these three great leading actress's. This will surely be a Halloween Cult Classic for years to come.
Rating: Summary: Bring us the sequel! And the DVD! Review: I also love Hocus Pocus, which is one of my favorite movies. I hope someday Buena Vista bring us a sequel, it would be great. But, before that, THEY HAVE TO RELEASE IT ON DVD! I Still can't believe they haven't released it on DVD yet. This is a very funny movie mixed with some suspense in a great way. All the cast (Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler, Kathy Najimi, Omri Katz, Thora Birch, Vinessa Shaw...) is great. Kenny Ortega did an amazing job with this movie. PLEASE, BRING US THE DVD!

Rating: Summary: They'll "Put A Spell On You"! Review: A traditional "Halloween Ghost Story" turns into a real life adventure for 3 kids who break the spell of the Sanderson Sisters. The story is an engaging one and will have even grown-ups pay close attention. The Sanderson Sisters (wonderfully played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy), convicted of witchcraft in Colonial Salem, Massachusetts and put to death some 300 years ago, are brought back to life when "a virgin lights the black candle". It's up to two teenagers and an 8 year old to stop the wicked witches from succeeding with their sinister plan: to lure the town's children to their witch house and "drink" their life-force away from them. -- Bette Midler steals the show when the sisters crash a Halloween party, singing "I Put A Spell On You". There are many "time jokes" as well, having the 17th century sisters "confused" when they experience 20th century life: Blinded by a truck's head lights, they are convinced the sun is rising; they frantically avoid stepping on a blacktop driveway when they are told that it is "a black lake of death"; unable to find a broomstick, one of the sisters heads for the sky on a Hoover vacuum cleaner. The jokes are pretty good, and I was entertained throughout the film. I have watched "Hocus Pocus" several times already, and will watch it again and again. This is another example of a movie made for kids, but enjoyed by grown-ups as well. Recommended!
Rating: Summary: Great Review: This is such a great movie it is absolutely one of my favorite movies, it is entertaining , funny , exciting , scary but not too scary , fun , and a great tale. It is a movie one can watch all of the time and over and over again. Defenitely watch and get this movie!
Rating: Summary: Awesome halloween film Review: I love this movie I have watched it a least two times a year since it came out. My mom and I decorate our house like the houses of Salem. I've even complemplated being the witches with my two sisters. This is the one movie that I need to get a new copy of I've worn out my old one I just got like three years ago. If you like haloween movies that won't scare you to death and you can watch with your kids (at any age) this is the perfect movie to watch just before halloween. I like it so much I've even watched it in Febuary.
Rating: Summary: One of my all time favorite movies!!! Review: This definitely ranks up in my all time favorite movies! I LOVE Holiday movies and specials, and this is the PERFECT Halloween movie! But this movie is great anytime really. The cast is superb, the story is great, the effects are excellent without a lot of computer generated mumbo jumbo, and the atmosphere is just perfect! I can't tell you how many times I've watched this video! I'm sure by now that I know it by heart! It deserves a DVD release more than most of the stuff I find on DVD does! The story concerns a teenage boy who accidentally brings back to life 3 bumbling, but very dangerous witches on Halloween night. From there we are taken on a wonderful chase as the hero, his baby sister, and his dream girl, led by a black cat who is really a teenage boy under a curse, run through the streets of Salem trying to evade the three hilariously scary witches and their Zombie sidekick, and simultaneously attempting to figure out how to destroy the witches before sun up. This might be scary for some LITTLE kids, but only some. Primarily it is a comedy, most of the jokes coming from the witches encountering modern day suburbia and confusion about what is what and who is who on Halloween. This movie is a real treasure and should be on the shelf of everyone who enjoys Halloween! I can't imagine a Halloween going by that I don't watch this at least once on the big day, and several times leading up to it. Best to watch when it's just getting dark outside, or after total darkness is achieved. Good anytime though. If you love Halloween movies by the way, check out my Halloween movie lists for more than the 80's slasher stuff. And check out The Worst Witch starring Fairuza Balk back in the Return to Oz days. Oh, that's another good Halloween movie! Return to Oz! Laters!
Rating: Summary: Chuckles galore. Review: I absolutely LOVE this cute Disney movie, as the Divine Miss M. as the wickedly funny Winnie Sanderson, the witch sister of two other witch sisters, Mary and Sarah (Kathy Najimy and "Sex In The City"'s Sarah Jessica Parker) are resurrected by naive teen (Omri Katz) and his cute little sister (Thora Birch) trying to impress a pretty girl (Vinessa Shaw) who lights a black flame. A little bit of belly laughs, but mostly chuckles. But what makes up for the humor is the hilarious hijinks that ensue when the sisters are resurrected-looking for young children to suck their youth from, so they can live forever. This cute Disney movie has sufficient humor. It also has a little romance, a teeny bit of horror, and genuine warmth are cleverly interwoven in this 93-minute movie. A obvious Halloween favorite. (Don't miss that musical interlude, where the Divine Ms. M sings the funny "I Put A Spell On You." It obviously does put a little spell on you.) You can also see it on HBO and Cinemax. Rated PG for mild language and some scary stuff.
Rating: Summary: This Is a Funny Movie Review: I like this movie for several reasons. For one thing, Bette Midler (as Winifred Sanderson, one of the witches) looks so ugly with her buck teeth, but she's also very funny. I also think that the zombie, Billy (the one with his mouth sewn shut) is funny, the way he groans when he's hurt and loses his head (literally) twice. What I also like is the theme of brother-sister love, such as the love that Thackery Binx, a 17th-century boy who's turned into a talking cat by the Sanderson sisters, feels for his deceased sister, Emily (who dies at the hands of the three witches). I also like the funny lines-- like the scene where Billy tells Winifred to go to hell and she says, "I've been there. I find it quite lovely, thank you." Normally, I don't watch Disney movies, but I like this one. It'll put a spell on you!
Rating: Summary: Hocus Pocus night'! Review: You're in for a devil of a time when three outlandishly wild witches --Bette Midler,Sarah Jesica Parker and Kathy Najimy --return from 17th century Salem after they are accidentally conjured up by some unsuspecting pranksters! It's a night full of zany fun and comic chaos once the tricky 300-year-old trio sets out to cast a spell on the town and reclaim their youth--but first they must get their act together and outwit three kids and a talking cat! Loaded with bewitching laughs, HOCUS POCUS is an outrageously wild comedy that's sure to entertain everyone!
